The Lodge- charming cottage on private country house estate
The Lodge is the former gatehouse to Spital House estate. It is all on one level and is bordered by woods on two sides and a large fully enclosed garden to the rear. There is an abundance of wildlife to see from the cottage and the fields to the rear have sheep, lambs and cows throughout the rear.

Lovely historical cottage very clean and fully equipped with everything you need - would definitely recommend this property
The lodge was excellent, it is situated in a beautiful area. We had a most enjoyable weekend. Although no luck catching fish.
We hope to come back, we will be recommending the lodge.
We had a lovely stay at this Lodge very picturesque surroundings. The Lodge is very spacious. Very clean and is well equipped in the kitchen. Great base for exploring the surrounding areas.
Someone who cares and goes the extra mile in both the presentation and making sure your comfort is fulfilled. One of the best stays ever and all I can say to the owner Is WELL DONE
Accommodation was spotless everything was at hand .Little extras left by owners made us feel really at home. Could not have been better highly recommend
We spent 4 nights at the Lodge and really enjoyed it.
The lodge is in a great location ideal for a quiet time away but still close to towns. everything was nice and clean and well equipped. Liz our host was very helpful with good communication from the start
The owners of this property have thought of everything someone might need for a fantastic stay.
We wanted a quiet getaway, which we got - and thoroughly enjoyed but we both commented that the location of the lodge is perfect for exploring the local area too.
We couldn't fault the accommodation for anything, it's superb, well thought out, and highly recommended!
The lodge was just as described and was immaculate with everything we needed
The welcome pack of cake biscuits and honey was much appreciated
Thank you for making our holiday fantastic
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. Beds were excellent and we enjoyed a good night’s sleep. Parking was easy. Liz was very responsive to any questions we had. And the lounge was a perfect place to relax after a day out. We were only 2 but 4 people would be very comfortable. Jean
The Lodge is a beautiful cottage with fabulous enclosed gardens, love it and the owner is lovely
This is the second time my daughter and little granddaughter and me stayed at The Lodge. My other daughter and 2 grown up grandchildren one of who was up home from her job in London for a few days, came to visit us and my daughter loved it so is going to try to book for her and her husband if available later in the year. The whole cottage has beautiful fittings, kitchen ware and furnishings
Fantastic stay in this beautiful lodge. The little gate house building was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Good location to get to the coast. Berwick upon Tweed was 10mins away and we went to Edinburgh on the train from there. Host came to say hi and pass on her info if we needed her but we were then left alone. Beautiful short break.
Everything there you need for a stay, everything works as it should.
The fence is painted with tar so it smells not good if you sit outside. Inside theres a lot of room freshener which you have to love otherwise its uncomfortable. The WLAN was very good. Its a little bit old fashioned but clean and working.
We felt a little bit disturbed by the loud lawn tractor that provided bad air when we were having breakfast on the terrace.
A good point for starting to activities all aound the sorrounding area if you travel by car.
Very comfortable and clean cottage. It had everything we needed and in a lovely, quiet location. The welcome basket of honey and cake was a lovely touch and milk in the fridge. Would definitely stay again.
