Platte - RV Camper in the Woods with Fire pit & Hot Tub Access

The Platte Camper - Older RV/Camper located in our side/back yard. We own 40 acres of woods with several trails through the woods. This camper is not spectacular and is slightly dated, but has water, electricity, Air Conditioning, a refrigerator, stove top and cooking stove, shower and other basic necessities. There is a shared outdoor hot tub that is available for use. We do have a fire pit just outside the camper.

PLEASE NOTE - This is an older camper in the woods. We try to keep it clean and cozy, but don't expect a plush hotel at a camper price. Most people who understand this leave us great feedback, but those who expect a great hotel room at a camper price are sometimes disappointed. There are many other lodging options in the area that are much nicer, but you also have to pay two to three times more - especially in the prime summer months.

Peaceful and Relaxing stay
The trailer was just what we needed in a woodland space of peace. The hot tub was a welcome respite after a long day of travel. Check in was smooth.

Great little stop
We just needed someplace to sleep between days of hiking and this worked great! Our kids enjoyed exploring the property and we were happy to relax in the hot tub. Host was easy to communicate with, responsive and helpful.

Peaceful stay
The property offers a unique setting that provided the perfect stay for us. We couldn't ask for an easier check-in and check-out even with some plan changes on our end. All communications were quick and thorough. We highly recommend this property.

This was a perfect getaway away to be able to still be within short distance to all that the West Side of Michigan has to offer but also relax being away from all the summer crowds & still enjoy the camping experience. The camper was very convenient, clean & had everything we needed, Scott was a wonderful host!

Affordable and responsive
Platte camper provided for our needs, being an affordable, clean, camper with a responsive property owner. Im guessing the camper is around 20 years old. It is not fancy, but it did all we needed.

Location
Property was just as described. It is a fully functional older camper, perfectly suitable for 2 adults and up to 2 teens or 3 smaller children (IMHO). I enjoyed the hottub only once before my trip was cut short. It is next to the deck on back of house. We did find the bed somewhat hard, but added another comforter to sleep on and that helped a lot. Scott is readily available for assistance.

Great woodsy camper for a fall weekend!
We enjoyed our stay in the Platte camper! It was clean, well stocked with everything listed and in good repair for an older camper. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen accommodated cooking a big breakfast in the morning. For us, it was “glamping”with way more privacy and trees than you’d find at a campground. The location is ideal for experiencing everything the Leelanau peninsula has to offer. Our outdoor plans encountered some rain and we had some great evenings cozied up playing cards and games inside. We will definitely book here again!

Perfect for What was Needed
This property was just as described. Nothing special in terms of outstanding amenities, but it did exactly what we needed! A warm comfy place to sleep, & cook a hot crock pot meal. Most of our time was spent outside the camper doing activities around the area, so if you just need a place to sleep, eat and jet, this is a great idea for the price! Also the WIFI worked great, we brought a small TV to watch the football games in the evening! Lastly, the communication with the owner was great. If you know what you are getting into (read descriptions and pictures) with this property, then it will be an excellent stay!

Clean but musty
The camper is far off the beaten path so only woods nearby. I found the camper neat, but in a damp woods, it had a musty odor that did not bother me, but did bother my grandson. If you want an unusual property in a rustic location, this is for you.

Needed a place to stayover for the night. Scott is an amazing Host. Answers questions ASAP. We needed heat as it was a cold wet day/evening, heat worked great. Hot water on demand. Bed was a great sleep. Will use this again should I been in the area! Thank you Scott for everything!

Beautiful restful spot....
The camper was perfect for us (2 adults, one small child). It's in the middle of a beautiful wooded lot. The other campers are positioned perfectly, which gives plenty of privacy. The water was hot. We used the stove top and it worked well and was easy. The bathroom is small, so if you are a bigger person perhaps it may be tight, although we had no problems and it was perfect for us. We were able to take a nice stroll on the property also. The location is amazing and close to Gwen Frostic museum, The cherry hut, Frankfort, Sleeping Bear, and Empire. We had a blast. Thank you.

Don’t do it.
This is a very old camper on property near a single family home. I wasn’t expecting much but the moldy coffee grounds in the coffee pot ruined even my low expectations.

This is exactly what we expected. Nifty older camper with nearly everything in it still in working order. Loved we could use the radio, enjoyed the shower, worked fine. Queen Bed is great! I would only expect smaller people to be comfortable on the other beds. Hot tub was a nice perk as was having easy access firewood to purchase. Kitchen was well equipped, though we did not use the stove. Microwave, refrigerator and toaster were perfect for us. Nice that they provided chairs to pop open and sit near the campfire we made. Great experience in a Michigan forest!

smelly and dirty
We are adventurous, and not the type to complain. The first part of our stay was in a tent at a campground, and we wished we just camped the whole time. The camper was filthy. The floor was covered with a layer of black dog hair and dirt. The toilet stunk so badly, that it brought tears to our eyes and made us nauseous. We had to wash each pot, pan, dish, and even the coffee pot before using them. We made it work, since we were spending most of our time outside of the camper. Besides cleaning the property, a few things would make it more comfortable: directions on how to use the stove/oven, a drying tack for dishes, a key hook, cleaning products (all purpose spray).

Photos make unit look better than it really is. It’s TiGHT and there is no divider between the living area and the bedroom unless you leave the bathroom door open and that is not optimal due to odor from the bathroom. We did not use the tub but it had obviously not been cleaned as there was someone else’s dirty socks in it. The coffee pot hadn’t been cleaned and didn’t work very well and the refrigerator was filthy. There are water stains up the walls in the bedroom, the carpet is sticky and when the heat comes on it’s smoldering in the bedroom. The master bed however was super comfortable. And we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit once we went and got clean chairs from the garage.

Just don't!
This camper is old and musty. When we arrived the owner was in the process of "cleaning", we waited outside while he went in to put bedding on and empty trash, etc. The camper smelled of old grease, he did not clean the floor and we had to call him back to clean the toilet. The "hot tub" was at his house, and the so called fire ring was a small circle of rocks about 24" across. During a covid uptick, we feared for our safety in this place. My DIL had an asthma attack after one hour in this place, and both she and my son missed the wedding we traveled there to attend. We left Sunday and didn't use the second night. No refund was offered.

The pictures make this property look a lot nicer than it actually is. We drove up to find the camper doors flown wide open to let any sort of living creature inside of it. The carpet in front of the camper has seen its better days and is as thin/cheap as can be. Half the lights don't work inside, and the other half that did work would flicker when the air came on. The bathtub floor was dirty, so I wore flip flops to shower. The shower floor was soft by the drain making me assume it is rotten wood underneath. The camper itself APPEARED clean, but the outside of the property and the environment surrounding it was in major need of TLC, so it made us wonder how clean the property actually was. The hot tub that's advertised is right in their backyard, so it is on full display if you want to jump in for a soak. Overall, the camper itself is OKAY. However, I would pay double what I paid for this lodging to stay somewhere else. What you pay versus what you get here does not align. And I was shocked to see so many 5 star reviews because I would give it two stars at best. We will not be staying here again.
