About the property:
Hemlock Haven is a stunning log home nestled on four wooded acres with awesome views of Shenandoah National Park and Shenandoah River State Park. The property borders the George Washington National Forest on the north side, giving the home a “nestled in the woods” feeling. Guests will have access to the River Oak Community Pavilion on the Shenandoah River a short walk (.3 miles, down a steep hill) from Hemlock Haven.
The property is located in Bentonville, between Front Royal and Luray. The location is perfect to enjoy day trips to the Shenandoah National Park, the Shenandoah River State Park, Luray Caverns and local wineries and breweries and numerous hiking trails. The Downriver Canoe Company is a short distance away, offering kayaking and canoeing trips on the Shenandoah River.

The main level features a fully stocked kitchen with large island for entertaining, TV area with comfortable seating and awesome views, dining room, powder room, laundry room and the Shenandoah Suite primary bedroom with ensuite bathroom.
The upper level features the Blue Ridge Room and the Bear Den bedrooms with a shared bath and access to the “tree house deck”.
The lower level features the Saloon with a bar, game area and TV area, a gym, sauna, outdoor shower, full bathroom, and the Oar Haus suite with ensuite bathroom.
About the bedrooms:
The Shenandoah Suite on the main level includes a king bed, TV, walk-in closet, reading nook, and access to the main deck for morning coffee. The ensuite bathroom is a tranquil space with soaking tub, large shower, dual vanities, and toilet room. The Shenandoah Suite is an escape on its own!
The Blue Ridge Room on the upper level includes a queen bed, reading chair and access to the tree house deck. Access the shared bathroom with shower and bathtub through the shared hallway. No pets in the blue ridge room please.
The Bear Den on the upper level includes a queen bed and desk and access to the tree house deck. A Pack & Play is stored in the closet. This room has light darkening shades and is ideal for babies or toddlers. No pets in the Bear Den please.
The Oar Haus on the lower level includes a queen bed, a futon (full) bed and an upper bunk (twin) bed and a log dog bed. The log furniture and oar theme give this room a fun cabin vibe. The room has a TV with Netflix/Hulu/Disney+ and a DVD player. The ensuite bathroom includes a shower and toilet. This room is the perfect family space and includes access to the lower-level patio, which makes it a great room for pets.
About the Saloon:
Yep, there is a saloon on the lower level ready for guest-provided beverages. The bar area includes a beverage refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave sink. There are bar utensils and plenty of glassware to make your favorite beverages.
The poker/game table is great for cards, puzzles, or board games. We provide several games, puzzles, and cards for the entire family’s enjoyment.
The TV area features a large-screen TV with Netflix/Hulu/Disney+ for your favorite movie. You will find a DVD player and a large selection of DVD movies and TV series for rainy days.
There is also a full bathroom accessible from the saloon with a fun western theme.
Gym-Sauna-Outdoor Shower:
-The gym on the lower level includes a treadmill, ARC trainer, Smith machine and weights.
-The infra-red sauna is a great to enjoy after a day of hiking or working out in the gym.
-The outdoor shower is accessible from the gym and is also great for dog washing.
-Children are not allowed in the gym or sauna, and we keep the area locked so parents can control access.
Outdoor Spaces:
The screen porch is accessible from the kitchen. Open both doors to the porch for indoor/outdoor entertaining. The screened porch features comfortable seating and a wood fireplace. The gas grill is located just outside the screened porch. You will love this tranquil area for relaxing by the fire, reading, and enjoying sounds of nature.
The front deck (view side) is a large space with awesome mountain views. Enjoy amazing sunrises (especially in the winter). Relax on the sun loungers and don’t forget to check out the stars. The dark skies are perfect for stargazing! The deck is a great space for dogs to lounge with controlled access (be sure to latch the gate on the stairs). Just note that the deck can get very hot in the summer so be sure to check before you let dogs or bare feet on the deck.
The front porch is another tranquil space with rockers and a porch swing. Enjoy the sounds of nature or pouring rain from the ultimate cabin porch.
The lower-level patio is a great entertaining space. Enjoy meals at the high-top gas fire table with seating for 8. Outdoor friendly dishes and glassware are available in the saloon. The conversation seating area includes comfortable outdoor furniture with a gas fire table for cool evenings. More beautiful views from this space.
The Tree House Deck on the upper level is a magical space with seating for 4. Enjoy your coffee or evening wine while you listen to the birds and watch the squirrels – a nature lover’s delight!
Please note the following to make your stay as safe and comfortable as possible:
-Check in is 4 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m.
-The state road leading to Hemlock Haven is gravel and not suited for low clearance vehicles. During winter months, a 4-wheel drive vehicle or all-wheel drive vehicle is required. Access to the river/community pavilion also requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
-The roads leading to Hemlock Haven are dark at night. Try to arrive during daytime hours if you can. You will find our dark skies perfect for stargazing!
-Parties and events are not allowed.
-Our house guest limit of 8 is set by our county due to septic system limitations. We cannot authorize more than 8 guests. Unregistered guests and visitors are not allowed.
-For safety concerns, the gym and sauna are off-limits to children.
-Photoshoots, filming movies, advertising using Hemlock Haven property and any other commercial activity is prohibited.
-We welcome dogs with prior approval and a signed pet agreement. We limit the number of dogs to two - sorry, no cats. Dogs must be leashed at all times and due to HOA rules, we cannot accommodate dangerous breeds. No pets on the furniture or upper-level bedrooms, please.
-Drones, fireworks, ATVs or discharge of weapons are prohibited.
-There is no smoking inside Hemlock Haven or on porches or decks. Smoking is allowed on the lower patio.
NOTE: Hemlock Haven has one outward-facing security camera at the side entrance pointing toward the driveway.
