A River Landing
Newly renovated, romantic get-away cabin secluded at the end of a gravel road. The property is located within a 2000 acre wildlife corridor and has private frontage on a deep-water stretch of the Shenandoah known for small mouth bass fishing. Enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the Blue Ridge from the cabin’s front porch. At dusk, watch turkey and deer on the lawn and meadow below the house. Grill and dine outdoors on the extensive back deck sheltered by woods. Large, well-equipped kitchen with breakfast counter. Starlink internet. Picnic, swim, and fish at the waterfront pavilion below the house. Portable chairs, towels, and wood for the pavilion’s fire ring are kept at the cabin for river use.
The area for guests is flagged with pink flags. The woods behind the house and beyond the tree line on the east side of the "lawn/meadow" should be off limits to dogs and humans as the adjacent properties are leased to a hunt club. The hunters give the Landing House a 10 acres wide berth but guests should stay in the flagged acres.
Dogs welcome but there is no fenced outdoor area, and renters are asked to keep their dogs on the Landing’s ten-acre property.
Easy access to upriver canoe/rafting outfitter and to hiking trails in the George Washington National Forest.
The road you travel is a country road through forest and along the river, 7.5 miles on the gravel road, and is about 17.5 miles from downtown Luray. Again, the drive to town is about 30 minutes on a country road, so make sure you stock up on groceries before you travel to the cabin.
The historic town of Luray, Luray Caverns, Lake Arrowhead, and Jellystone Park are located about the same 30 minute drive. Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive are about a 45 minute drive, Wisteria Vineyard and New Market Battlefield will take about an hour of travel. The cabin is located at the base of Massanutten Mountain and borders the George Washington National Forest. There are many hiking trails nearby including the Habron Gap, and Indian Grave Ridge trail. There are multiple trails located along the Massanutten and the Shenandoah National Park.
