Storybook Cabin - Private Stream, Secluded, Incredible Canyon View

Serenity would be the best word to describe this rustic 3-bedroom, 1 bathroom fishing cabin built in 1934 on 1 acre secluded just above the Poudre River surrounded by the Roosevelt National Forest. This is the type of charming and rustic cabin featured in story books that you read as a kid. Sipping coffee is often like playing musical chairs due to the numerous grand views to enjoy and appreciate from every angle of the property. By far the best view of Profile Rock in the Poudre Canyon. Amazing fishing in the Poudre River is just a 2-minute walk from your front doorstep. Enjoy listening to the mountain stream that runs along the back patio and side of the cabin during the spring, summer and early fall. 1 hour 10 minutes from Fort Collins, 2 hours from Steamboat Springs. Please note the 2nd cabin (bunk house) will never be occupied during your stay. The bunk house is only used by owners during their personal stays at the cabin. You will enjoy complete privacy and seclusion of the 1-acre property.

Fun and convenient restaurant, bar and general store 3 minutes down the highway. Perfect mountain getaway retreat to unwind and hit the reset button. Large, fully furnished kitchen with dining area, family room with wood burning stove, tire swing, numerous outdoor seating areas, including multiple decks and patios with 2 grills. Large sun-filled yard. Sleeping arrangements are as follows: bedroom 1 = 1 king bed with private deck, and bedroom 2 = 1 king bed, and a twin bunk with trundle.

Additional Notes: No pets allowed. Live TV/cable service not available, but we do have a TV, DVD player and a handful of 80's movies that you are welcome to enjoy. We technically have WiFi, but please understand that it is extremely limited and slow in this remote area. Faster WiFi & cell service "hotspots" available at nearby restaurant and general store. Tons of wildlife viewing opportunities include: mule deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, black bear, mountain lion, bobcat, squirrels, seasonal birds including hummingbirds.

Texans in the cabin

Brought the family up from Texas to see the mountains and find some snow. Beautiful doesn’t even describe the scenery of canyon or mountains. We hiked along the Poudre river and drove up to Montgomery Pass trail and found snow hip deep. What an experience for all of us. Thank you for sharing this cabin, truly a slice of heaven.

Great weekend getaway!

We enjoyed our weekend stay at the cabin! Plenty of space inside and out. The tire swing was a big hit with the kids. The views are incredible and the sound of the creek was very relaxing. The WiFi worked great for us too!

Great base for winter exploration

We had a great stay in your beautiful cabin over NewYear's. It was nice and warm even in mid winter, and it's only 20-30 min from all the wonderful backcountry skiing around Cameron pass. Nice kitchen, comfy beds, a cozy stove, nice hosts - what else could you ask for?

Fantastic outdoor vacation stay

We loved the views from the cabin. It is right in the middle of beautiful country. So many trails and hiking to do with in minutes from the property. The kids loved the creek and climbing around. We had everything we needed. We did have some wildlife at night on the roof! We could hear something scampering around. We saw deer in the front yard one day and lots of hummingbirds and chipmunks. We had a great stay. It was the best mountain vacation experience we have had!

Peaceful Woods Setting

This really is a wonderfully updated old cabin with lots of options for watching wildlife, playing games in the yard, listening to / exploring the babbling stream, and lots of seating options outside for reading, painting and relaxing. Owner was very quick to respond to questions and to a concern we had.

Peaceful Reboot

Perfect location! Quiet, serene, solitary, literally just perfect! Loved the fire at night and the creek is the most fantastic background noise!!! Exactly what was needed for a reboot from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We loved being unplugged and just enjoying the outdoors. The cabin was perfect everything we needed and just beautiful! Great location for a fishing cabin! Thanks for a great place to stay.

Pure Serenity Cabin

Everything was wonderful! However, I am visually impaired and would have liked to know about the steps. On the VRBO listing it should indicate that there are steps both going into the cabin and inside the cabin.

30th Anniversary trip

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at this delightful cabin. It was a beautiful cabin & just the thing we needed to disconnect from the day to day grind. The cabin had everything we needed & was exactly as described & pictured. We enjoyed fishing, kayaking, hiking, seeing wildlife such as moose & deer, reading & relaxing. The fishing in the area was excellent! This is a beautiful area of the county. We enjoyed renting bikes in Steamboat Springs for the day as well. Highly recommend this cabin.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

Everything about this property, including the hosts, Ethan and his parents, is perfect. The cabin has a comfortable, homey feel that comes from the detail and thought that is obviously put into everything from the comfortable beds and thoughtfully stocked kitchen to the many beautiful outdoor spaces that beg to be used. Check out of your daily routine at home and prepare to immerse yourself in pure nature, void of the distractions of the connected, electronic world. We did for a month this summer, and can't wait to return next year! Thank you, Emery Family, for sharing your wonderful cabin home with us.

Wonderful, peaceful creek side cabin

This sweet little spot is just what my husband and I wanted/needed for the Memorial holiday weekend. The property is off the highway, private and quiet. We loved heading down the quick 3 miles to Glen Echo restaurant and bar for their nice afternoon deck and dinners. The convenience store just a mile from the house was great, too, and had staple items we hadn’t packed with us. The cabin, and particularly the kitchen, are also well appointed. Dadd’s Gulch hike - trail head 3 miles East down the road, 7 miles out and back - was also great. Very cozy property. Thank you Ethan and family for letting us enjoy it with you. We definitely plan to return.

A Wonderful Time

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cabin. Everything is as shown and described in the listing. The cabin is in good shape and the furnishings are comfortable. The view from the front deck is grand, the multi-level back deck is fun and inviting, and the bedroom deck is so relaxing to sit an listen to the stream run below it. The pair of hummingbirds will seem to dive bomb you when you first sit out front, but you quickly realize they are just saying hello. They will return often and hover a few feet away and just check you out while you admire their beauty. We watched a total of 7 bull moose up at Cameron Pass over the three days we drove up there (about 40 minutes up canyon). We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay.

Christmas in the mountains!

My family and I had an amazing and fun time staying here. It was definitely isolated and it was a great place for my family to go back to a simplicity lifestyle. With no cable and spotty wifi, we were able to unplug from the technology world. We played board games(that the cabin had and others we brought), made a 1,000 piece puzzle that the kiddos picked before we headed to Colorado, and played in some soft white snow! We didn't see much wildlife but did the tracks in the mornings on the snow. The only thing that would have made it absolutely perfect would have been a washer and dryer, especially since the kiddos went through all of their clothes before the trip was over. It wasn't bad though, I just washed some clothes the old fashion way ;) We would definitely come back again and highly recommend to all who are wanting to get a way from it all and reconnect with nature. You will not be disappointed.
