Your Very Own Castle
Since the eleventh century Château de Chanzé has stood on the banks of the river Layon, a tributary of the Loire River - a cultural and horticultural rich region of the North West fondly known as the ‘Garden of France’.
A significant night in the Château's history was in 1576 when the owner, Jacques du Bellay had the honour of hosting the King of Navarre, later to become Henri IV or "le bon roi Henri", under the roof of the castle.
Having been meticulously restored in the mid 1980’s it offers modern comforts while still retaining its original grandeur. The Château’s impressive character is preserved in its thick stone walls, high ceilings and seventeenth and eighteenth century antique furniture throughout.
It is through castles such as this that the history and culture of the region live on and Château de Chanzé offer a unique opportunity to experience a slice of French life.
The self-catering Château has five bedrooms which can accommodate up to fifteen guests. While the entire property can accommodate groups of up to 40 guests when hiring the neighbouring apartments (adjoining self-contained cottages) and studios (adjoining cottages without a kitchen).
A heated 14x6m swimming pool is open during summer.
The Château is rented in its entirety. A €1000 fully refundable security deposit will be requested separately 2 weeks prior to arrival day.
The apartments may be booked with the castle for a minimum of three nights.
