Location was good, by the bus station and a 10 minute (uphill) walk into the touristy central area of Belgrade. It's a difficult hotel to review as it's trying desperately to be something, elegant? classy? but it falls short. The décor is more quirky shabby chic than elegant. Some areas need attention, stained carpets and marked walls, not all the lights seemed to work in the room. I had a room on the first floor at the front and it's incredibly noisy; the traffic on the main road and the lack of good soundproofing (double glazing) results in poor sleep quality. Standard rooms do not have a safety deposit box which is very disappointing and inconvenient, meant having to carry passport and valuables all the time. The 'better standard' rooms have safety boxes but we all have valuables and all deserve some security regardless of room rate. Breakfast was OK but there was a lack of staff attention eg having to ask for cutlery or things to be replenished. There was no black tea; all kinds of herbal and fruit but not ordinary black tea - why? They also use plastic stirrers on the hospitality tray in the room and in the breakfast room; in this day and age this is a big NO. Other cutlery provided was metal so why not teaspoons? Overall, not bad for the price would ask for a room at the back in future for some peace and quiet. Didn't live up to my expectations.
