Adorable South Shore Hood Canal Home with Boat Ramp

Welcome to Wanderers Retreat, a little slice of heaven on the sunny south shore of the hood canal . Perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Spend your days relaxing on the spacious porch in the sun, or exploring the bay by boat. The canal is perfect for swimming, on those hot summer days, or if it’s too warm escape away into the air conditioning.
The house has two fire pits so you can spend those beautiful summer nights sitting around a fire. A propane one for those dry summer days, and a wood pit tucked away at the waters edge, perfect for watching the spectacular sun sets.
Must be 30+ to rent, minimum two night stay, preregistered pets are welcome for a additional fee, please clean up after your pets, doggie bags are provided for your convenience. Note, the beach has barnacles and oysters, please be careful, they may cut their paws.
Two kayaks are available for use by guests to explore the local shoreline. And for your safety a small selection of life jackets are available for guests as well.

Located 5 miles outside of Belfair on the South Shore of the Hood Canal, just a short 3 miles from the walking trails at Twahno State Park, 30 minutes from the off-road park in Tahuya, home to a extensive trail system for quads, hiking, biking, and 4x4 rigs.

Great getaway

Good location, I appreciate the kayaks & swam every day, great clam beach, no propane for the outdoor fireplace. Nice kitchen, comfortable beds, no inside dining table.

So much fun

Great Getaway

No problem renting; great clam beach but no tools (borrowed from neighbors), best features awesome deck & outdoor lights all around, kayaks, comfortable bed, many pillows. Biggest problem lack of dining table inside.

Everything we needed to relax and chill

From the very beginning, Kristie, the host, was cordial and responsive and generous with her time. This is a sweet little place right on the water with a huge deck (doggie proof) and direct access to the water for our paddle boards (or even your own boat!) Bonuses: huge TV for nighttime movies...large recliner couch!...new dishwasher! Plenty of parking...and best of all: air conditioning!!!

Exterior was full of weeds. Outside of barrique was filthy. Plants on deck were not watered or trimmed. Weeds growing all over deck. Shower door was not working properly. We would not stay there again.

Excellent location and owner

This small cottage is literally ON hood canal, the enormous deck sits just over the water at high tide. Amazing views. Bring your pole (and license) you can easily fish from there. Lots of deck seating and all deck exits are gated so they will likely contain all but the smallest dogs. low tide you have about 30 feet of rocky beach, no sand so plan to wear water socks or at least flip flops. There is a narrow boat ramp available as well. Something wide like a catamaran won't fit. Lots of towels and blankets are provided. Shower is narrow as someone else mentioned, but its fine. I am a plus size gal and had no issue. Owner was kind and responsive, great to work with. Will definitely return!

Reliving a bit of paradise.

I grew up on swimming in the warm waters of Hood Canal and being able to spend the weekend with my family who love and miss the Canal so much gave us a bit of paradise. We so enjoyed spending time there. We especially loved the large front deck over the water. It's a beautiful place to spread out, eat and visit. The propane fire pit took the chill off the in the evening and early morning. Access to the cabin and beach was easy (Especially for those with walking issues). The cabin was clean, the kitchen well stocked, the beds were comfortable and there was an abundance of towels, bedding, bathing and first aid supplies. We loved the beach and my family especially enjoyed using the kayaks. The ramp to the beach made easy to access to the water and raft and the abundance of clams. Kristie was friendly and easy to work with and gave good directions to the cabin and renter instructions. The only problem we had was seeing the address on the paddle for the driveway. It was difficult to see and people tailgate on the road, especially when you slow down, looking for an address. We all overshot the driveway entrance. We all had a wonderful time on her property and it's a beautiful place to bring your family.

Hood Canal Mini Vacation

We had a very relaxing stay and especially loved the large deck. If you feel like going on an adventure, go to Hama Hama Oyster Farm and eat some fresh oysters!

Right on the beach!

This is a beautiful place to stay. Loved the deck and the sunsets were fabulous! Sitting on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee, watching the seals was my favorite part! The house is small but enough. Could use some updates but all in all I would rent there again!!

Cozy cottage, spacious deck

Quaint cottage, well appointed and comfortable for two but might feel a bit crowded for three or four if the weather keeps you inside. Bathroom might be tight for a big person, it's small. Road noise can be heard outside when water is calm. Owner seems friendly and responds promptly to messages. Kayaks provided, beautiful scenery for a paddle. We had a family of seals following us the whole time we were out on the water. Loved it!

Peaceful, wonderful views

Nice property with wonderful views. Very peaceful, well stocked home. Family enjoyed visiting us while we were there & enjoyed the looking for shells & BBQ-ing. We enjoyed our stay very much & my return as we have family that lives in the area.

Quiet getaway

We were transported back to a quieter time at this well stocked home. The deck overlooking the Hood Canal with gas firepit, see deck with lights and heater, efficient kitchen, big screen tv, an comfy beds provided much needed calm.

Waterfront dream

We stayed here for a long weekend and the home did not disappoint. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds comfortable, and the home felt incredibly clean. But the best part? The back deck. You walk outside and literally feel like you are on the water. We had the most incredible sunset while we were there, and later enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire while listening to the water. We brought along our pup, and she enjoyed it every bit as much as we did. The only downside is that the road that the home is on it quite busy with fast moving traffic (+/- 40 mph) and minimal shoulders, so it didn’t feel particularly safe to leave from the house to take the dog for a walk. Not a huge deal for some people I’m sure, but something to consider if easy and safe walking nearby is important for your trip. Despite that, this was a wonderful home and we would definitely recommend.

Beautiful spot

I spent a way too short weekend here with my pup. The cabin is comfortable, well appointed and perfectly clean. And the deck is spectacular! The only reason I took one star off the neighborhood is that people drive way too fast on the road behind the house. Just something to be aware of with pets or kids. We will definitely return!!

Wonderful cottage on the canal

Everything was just perfect. The cottage was well stocked with everything you could need from the kitchen to the abundance of towels, comfortable beds. The deck is amazing. The location is absolutely beautiful and quiet. Swam and kayaked in the canal. Loved the floating dock, too. It was very hot and the AC was a lifesaver. Easy check in/out and communication with the host was great. We were sad to leave. We will definitely book again!

Beautiful sunsets

This place was great for our stay. The sunsets were fantastic and the deck is an amazing place to hang out at the end of the day. Thank goodness for the air conditioning because it was HOT the week we were there and we wouldn't have survived without it!
