Captain's Quarters @The Boat Shop - Overlooking Paradise Bay

We welcome you to enjoy your vacation in this beautiful one-bedroom apartment in the heart of downtown Beaver Island. Located close to the Beaver Island Marina, this rental puts you within walking and biking distance to restaurants, stores, entertainment, and pristine beaches. The large covered deck gives you a fantastic view of the harbor during the day and offers a relaxing place to take in star-filled nights.

Leave your cares behind while you enjoy your visit. This rental offers one bedroom with a Queen bed. All linens are included and shared laundry facility. HBO Now, Netflix, and Internet included.

You will be staying over at the historical St. James Boat Shop. The Burtons built the shop in 2017, and the craft continues with Dan Burton and his family. We have been crafting handcrafted cherry wood boats and buckets since 1985.

Paddling paradise bay
We enjoyed the quaint small town life that beaver island offered. This location was absolutely perfect, suiting our paddling and exploring needs! Bike rental beneath us, market next door and access to the water just across the street!! We will be staying here again next summer!!!!

Wonderful long weekend
As always a great stay at The Boat Shop. Clean and well supplied. Comfortable and great location. Apartments are always fun and cutely decorated. Love that balcony and the view. Carol is always helpful and very friendly and welcoming. Feel like it’s home away from home.

It was advertised that there was a microwave, which we were counting on for meals at least lunch. It was a 3 foot long and prob 50lbs and it was located in a closet. There was no way to get it out and use it. Yes, we could have used the oven but there is no air conditioning and it was too hot to use the stove/oven. As for the bed, the matress is about 5" thick and on a piece of plywood. The base is about 12" off of the ground. On our first morning there the owner knocked on our door to tell us we needed to leave for 2-3 hours so they could spray for spiders (we work 60+ hours a week and the time we were there was the only time we have to sleep in) she said we could stay but all the windows had to stay closed for that time period. Again, no ac so there was no way we could stay there. A couple of days later she was out on the deck directly in front of our room hammering at 10 am. The view from the deck is not what the view is on the online pictures. Yes, u can see the lake, but the yard is full of cinder blocks laying everywhere, old pieces of wood and metal. The yard is all over grown. The island itself is very pretty with a couple nice beaches, but all of the museums are closed and the lighthouses are ran down. We will not be going back.
