"Such an atmospheric property, filled with echoes of its colourful past. This is not a hotel-like palace but rather a grande-dame of a chateau with all the attendant wrinkles and wear that actually feels like it's been lived in by real families for centuries. We loved the authenticity of the chateau and especially enjoyed prowling the rooms and grounds, the caves, the woods, and the secret garden, and what a treat it was to realize the chateau has an actual moat. "Details on line very misleading, property only approx 10 feet from owners property, garden not private, as described, rather we were disturbed by the owners grandson playing football in the garden. There is only one toilet in a property which sleeps 10, it is off the sitting room and not sound proofed! All a bit tired, bizarre collection of kitchen equipment. In all, rather disappointing."

"On the photos the hotel with its swimming pool looked good to me but the pool was half empty and closed moreover I found my room not very clean especially the bathroom."

Lovely stay

"Parking easy. Great central location. The check in was a pleasure; the hotel reception comfortable; the garden lovely. The room overlooking the Loire, clean and bright. Huge bath with shower over; L’Occitane products; large towels; efficient heated towel rail; separate w/c off the room lobby. The staff were extremely helpful. I would happily stay here again. "

"This place is impeccable. In spite of it being in an historic building it has been lovingly maintained. Our triple room had an enormous bedroom with twin sinks. The beds were in separate rooms and there were original paintings on the walls. Breakfast was very good. Stay there if you’re in the area."

Perfect stay at Hotel Rive Sud

"Our stay at the hotel was perfect from start to finish. The owners are super friendly and offered plenty of advice about the surrounding area, and tips on recommended places to visit. The attention to detail on the decor of the whole property gives a truly comforting & relaxed feel. The hotel is in a great location within a short 5-10 minute walk in to Chinon centre. I would highly recommend this property."
