"We loved staying at the lodge — it was so cozy, yet still had plenty of space and felt like another home! Would definitely stay again. Gerard and Jan were incredibly communicative and helpful for anything that we needed. Would highly recommend to anyone needing a cozy getaway in Northern MI. Peter and Maddie " and

"This was easily a 5-star stay. My wife wanted a rustic weekend getaway as a birthday celebration and wanted a place that could easily accommodate our family of four plus our two God-children (all 4 kids range from 13 to 16). This place was the right choice! Gerard and Jan exceeded our hopes and expectations! The home was very neat and clean, with kitchens and bathrooms very well stocked. There was plenty to do for our teenagers (board games, basketball, firepit, and their beautiful gardens). To make it even better, they have a vegetable garden open to guests!!! They thought of everything in preparing this place. We made the right choice and were privileged to tell them while we were there, and enjoyed meeting them. They deserve the Super host rating. We have already started planning our return to the property. Thanks again Jan and Gerard! Terrence Quinn. Other things to note:
New Moon Lodge and Bakery Lane Cottage are located in the Bear Lake area. WIFI is new instal of High Speed Fiber Optics with 300+mb and wifi enabled calling.
The Lodge is literally at the doorstep of miles of State Land with undeveloped two-track roads that are great for contemplative walking, biking, birding, hiking, mushrooming or skiing adventures. We rely on mindful and slow drivers on our road and thank you for driving safely. The forest that surrounds the cottage are populated with 100 year old Maples, Ash, Beech, Basswood and Ironwood to name a few of the tree species. Spring flowers are spectacular as well as seasonal mushrooming. Every guest who has stayed at New Moon Lodge and nearby Bakery Lane cottage have given us 5 star reviews and many have stated the lodgings far exceeded their expectations. Better Than Imagined- Perfection
There was not a single bad thing about our stay at New Moon. From the enchanting history of the place, to the magical gardens and surrounding forest, the impeccable views, and lovely wildlife. A 16 minute drive from the beautiful Arcadia Beach, with a well stocked grocery just down the corner. We were never bothered by the inhabitants of the other buildings on site, and we were delighted to meet Jan on our last morning while she was harvesting in the shared garden who shared with us even more stories and love for this place. In my opinion, there is no other place to stay Up North. This is the pinnacle of excellence and magic. We will be returning multiple times a year, happily. Thank you so much Jan & Gerard for sharing this place with the world.

Outstanding experience at this beautiful, fun and spacious cabin.
We booked this stay for a long weekend ski trip to nearby Crystal Mountain. To say that this cabin and our hosts exceeded expectations would be an understatement. We were greeted with a very friendly introduction as we arrived since the hosts live on property in a cottage next door. Our daughter was dying to explore the place and she was not disappointed. The main floor is larger than the photos made it look and everything you would need is there. There are great views of the woods and plenty of nice places to sit and enjoy the ambience. From the moment we walked in, we could see that that there was a lot of love put into this cabin. This is not a cookie-cutter rental. There are many unique touches, fun random decorations, and even a goldfish to feed. There is a full-sized laundry room with large Whirlpool washer and dryer. The high-quality touches continue throughout the home, including an impressive wood burning stove (thoughtfully preloaded with kindling and detailed instructions which was very much appreciated!). The kitchen is fully stocked with plates, mugs, knives, nice silverware, etc. Plenty of toiletries, premium organic soap, towels, etc. There is fast Wi-Fi, and a desk should you need to check in with work or stream video. The three bedrooms were very nice and my daughter absolutely loved the cozy loft room with the small roll top desk. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would wholeheartedly recommend this cabin.

AMAZING!!!
Our group of friends had a fantastic time at Woodland Lodge over Labor Day Weekend! Gerard's house was in excellent condition, very clean, and comfortable. Snow-white towels and bathrobes were absolutely amazing! Beautiful garden and a very quiet place. We recommend it to everyone who wants to have a good time rafting on the river, riding the Zip Line, or skiing in the winter at Crystal Mountain. The best house wherever we stayed! Thanks to Gerard and Jan for their hospitality!

Charming, peaceful getaway
We had such a wonderful time during our stay at New Moon Lodge. The property owners are thoughtful and so very kind. The property was as described--if anything, it was even better than we expected--and our whole family absolutely loved our time there. If you are feeling stressed, this is just the place you want to go to decompress and relax. Bonus: the garden. I know they tell you there's a garden and they even show a picture of it, but seriously... it is BEAUTIFUL, and such a pleasure to stroll through, and the produce you're allowed to pick for dinner from it is the cherry on top. We definitely want to stay here again.

Hidden gem
The New Moon Lodge was the perfect fit for our families latest ski weekend in Northern Michigan. We picked the location based on its proximity to Crystal Mountain (approx 15 minutes) and Caberfae (approx 40 minutes). The lodge was clean and spacious. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. I would highly recommend the New Moon Lodge for anyone looking for a unique, quiet, rustic retreat.

Perfection.
We have stayed at many northern Michigan rentals on ski weekends. This was my favorite of them all. It is gorgeous and comfortable and is an incredibly peaceful retreat. It's at the end of a mile-long dirt road, and all you can see is woods. My husband and son skied at Crystal, about 15 minutes away. I enjoyed the plethora of nearby hiking trails, including a 30ish-minute drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes. Two things for other travelers to be aware of: There is one TV in the upstairs loft, and it's pretty small by today's standards. For us, this was a non-issue because we weren't there to watch TV. But if watching a "big game" is part of your plans, take note. Also, the Wifi is a bit weak; again, not an issue for us because we weren't there to be on our devices. But something to note if you're looking to do remote work that requires Zoom.
