THE BEST
I fell in love with this place.
Location, location, location! There's no Italian marble in the bathroom. If you want to cook a huge dinner for guests, you're pretty much out of luck. There's no huge TV or luxury living room, and it's not in a swanky neighborhood. This has something much more valuable than any of those things: seclusion.
I stayed here at the end of October. It took me over 3 hours to get from Cheticamp because of an early-season snowstorm. The next day I sat looking out the kitchen window at hailstorms, snow squalls and even a couple waterspouts go by. The little house creaked and groaned. I felt like I was at the end of the earth. But it was warm and safe and I could finally concentrate on my writing.
My dog Auggie and I loved going to Cabot Landing beach, and had a bunch of apples from the trees along the driveway. We also liked exploring the little ATV trails around the house that go down to the harbor.
At night, you can see the lights from the tankers and freighters going through the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Meghan is an exemplary host and is quick to respond to inquiries. The only thing I didn't like about her is that she wouldn't sell me this gem of a property because it was '...in her family for generations..." or some such nonsense .
Anyway, this place is truly special. I hope to visit it someday in the summer when the restaurants and other facilities are open.
