The large elegant living room has lofty ceilings, ornate cornices, an antique chandelier and gorgeous muted gold papered walls. Tall sash windows with working shutters overlook the smart historic Queensbury hotel on a listed Georgian terrace complete with black iron railings and decorative balconies. Two large handsome sofas and a comfortable armchair surround a large grey marble fireplace with mirror over. There is a TV with DVD and a selection of films, books and games.

The bedroom is romantic, tranquil and similarly decorated in gold tones, with a 6'bed (which can be made up as a twin room with two 3' beds.) An antique wardrobe sits in a wide alcove with a central chest of drawers and an easy chair and iPod docking clock radio placed by the window with its sweeping drapes.

The apartment continues down three steps to a delightful curved lobby lined with bookish wallpaper, with doors into the bathroom, utility cupboard and kitchen.

The contemporary bathroom is fully tiled in travertine with a bath (with shower over), a hand basin and WC. There is a separate utility cupboard housing a combined washing machine and dryer, domestic appliances and shelf space.

The kitchen combines the old with the new, with an antique pine table and contemporary chairs to seat 4, in front of an exposed bath stone chimney breast. Surrounding this is a contemporary glossy cream and grey kitchen with a well organised array of crockery and cutlery. The kitchen provides an induction hob, an electric oven, a microwave, dishwasher, and a large Smeg fridge and small separate freezer. French doors lead out to a charming terraced courtyard garden.

The garden is a green sanctuary with bath stone walls, broad stone steps and mature trees and shrubs on 3 levels. You can hear the gentle chimes of The Christchurch on Julian Road. A store-room provides two folding outdoor chairs and a table for alfresco dining.

Good location so managed to leave the car parked for while of our stay. Comfortable bedroom, living room and handy kitchen with terrace. Plenty of room, but bathroom was in need of minor maintenance and water never got that warm. But suitable for a short stay.

Our Stay at Russel Street.
We were mostly positive about our stay. The kitchen was very well-equipped and stocked with an excellent variety and quantity of crockery, cutlery and glassware. The folder contained comprehensive information on restaurants etc. The location was good with a mini market just around the corner for every day needs, with larger stores a comfortable walk away. We enjoyed the proximity to the Royal Victoria Park and the Botanical Gardens. We felt the cleaning was a little deficient in a couple of areas - the floor behind the bathroom door along the bottom of the bath seemed neglected. There was grit on the floor of the wardrobe. The headboard of the bed was dusty as were the curtains. The sheer curtain in the bedroom looked as though it could do with a wash. The bath mat did not look clean. The toilet seat was loose and skewed. There were initial problems maintaining an internet connection but Ray came in and fixed it on the Tuesday (and seemed to have fixed the toilet seat as well!). He left a bottle of champagne in the fridge as compensation for the inconvenience. I enjoyed reading in the garden. The garden furniture was rusty and rickety. We narrowly avoided breaking a glass which fell over when placed on the table. The biggest negative of all was that we could not gain access to the apartment when we arrived because we had been given the incorrect code to open the key box. We could not get any response from any of the contact numbers we had been given.

My daughter and I stayed in this flat during the two hottest days England has ever had (so far). We were able to stay cool, thanks to blinds and shutters shut and an ice cube tray for the freezer. The kitchen was well equipped and it was very quiet when we sat out back in the garden We will definitely come back! Very helpful property manager and excellent communication despite our last minute booking over a weekend.

Lovely apartment
This was our 2nd stay in the Russel Garden apartment and it was just as good as the first, except that it was too cold to sit in the lovely little walled garden. Everything is very high quality and comfortable. We love the spacious elegant sitting room and the bed is very big and comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom are very well fitted and have everything you need. The location is great, quiet yet within walking distance of the city centre.

This property is even better than described. Beautiful interior decoration with modern appliances. Sue is so welcoming and warm. The welcome package included basics and treats. This was our best lodging on our trip in England.

Absolutely excellent
This was a perfect place to stay. The apartment is immaculate and everything works well. Everything is good quality, from the welcome pack to the bath towels. We were met by Sue, the owner, who showed us round and also gave us some useful tips about the area. The apartment is very comfortable and quiet and perfectly placed in a lovely peaceful and interesting part of Bath.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Russel Garden Apartment. It was comfortable, quiet, elegantly appointed, and conveniently located. The check in went quickly and smoothly, and we felt very welcomed. We enjoyed excellent communication prior to our arrival, and never needed to contact anyone during our stay because we had no problems. If we return to Bath we would happily stay here again. It is a lovely place.

The location of the apartment was excellent , a short walk to the centre of town , it was equiptd with everything a traveller could need . Restaurants in easy walking distance . Having a resident car parking ticket wa great We did not move our car in the time we were there . The staff were very helpful & obliging , we actually checked in about 1pm which was a big help as we got to Bath quite early I would highly recommend the apartment
