Location:
Private home located on 50+ extremely private acres, bordering the Pisgah National Forest, 15 minutes outside of Weaverville, & only 30 minutes north of downtown Asheville. You are 45 minutes to Asheville Regional airport, and 35 minutes to the gates of Biltmore Estate. You are also an easy 20 minutes from downtown Mars Hill.
It is fairly easy to access the home, via easy, paved roads, until reaching the private gravel road. The home affords year round access to any and all vehicles, but may require an "all-wheel" or 4 x 4 drive vehicle if ice or snow are present. The driveway/private gravel road does have an incline approach to the home, so in the Winter exercise caution with potential ice, and year-round we suggest front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicles.

Description:
Come enjoy the Whiskey Rock experience.
Wow(!), an amazing estate property, spectacular views, a plethora of onsite amenities and amazing outdoor spaces!! This stunning property essentially has it all.
Aptly named after a nearby mountain boulder outcropping (which you can hike up to in the Pisgah National Forest), and with close access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Whiskey Rock is a true luxury getaway affording great mountain views & a plethora of outdoor activity spaces on 50 acres of mountain splendor.

Whiskey Rock has been entertaining travelers for years & has become one of the most popular homes in our Yonder luxury portfolio, and very quickly became one of the most requested! It is not surprising when you put a terrific estate property & home together with simply spectacular views, outdoor spaces & amenities.

As for Whiskey Rock, this fully modern farmhouse is located on a 50+ acre mountain estate, on your own private mountainside. It is truly a mountain retreat getaway, or blissful hideaway. Get ready to be "wowed" by this 3,600+ sq. ft. spectacular modern, arts & crafts, farmhouse mountain style retreat lodge, and the cozy modern "hideaway cottages". With soaring vistas, high ceilings, vaulted spaces, exposed wood beams, eclectic decor, and hardwood floors, you will immediately feel at home at Whiskey Rock. (That is of course if you can tear yourself away from the views, sitting by the fire-pit & soaking in the spectacle of the Blue Ridge Mountains, & actually venture inside!)

The great room, with stone fireplace, and fully equipped gourmet kitchen, is where everyone will want to gather to enjoy their time together inside the house, with plenty of space for all. But, if you need some "alone time", there is plenty of space inside and out to find your own serenity. There are 7+ outside porches, decks, screened porch and patios for ultimate outdoor relaxation. Dogs are WELCOME as well! The estate consists of 3 separate structures; main lodge house (4-bedrooms/3 baths), and 2 separate “hideaway” studio/1-bedroom cottages,, Big Ivy & The Pisgah, which have a bedroom, small coffee station, and private ensuite bathroom. They each also have Sleeping Lofts with twin beds to accommodate families and/or larger groups staying at Whiskey Rock.

Kids love getting out in and around the expansive estate property, and explore the other rolling outdoor areas. The expansive patio & deck areas are all around the property. All of these afford additional outdoor space to relax & unwind. While everyone enjoys the outdoors & more, you can pull up a chair and take in the view, (the long & short range views are spectacular!!), observe the night as it fills with stars, and watch the fireflies come out to play in your backyard.

Take a seat and enjoy the sound of nature and the serenity in your own private paradise at the top of the world. There is a spring-fed pond, private areas, and there is also a grassy, flat area for the kids to run around & play! Whiskey Rock offers lots of acreage for nature walks and exploring, and other exercise on the mountain without leaving the property. Besides bordering additional hiking in the Pisgah National Forest, there is a community park with a pool just about 5 minutes from the estate called Big Ivy Community Club, The outdoor pool is open from 12:00 to 6:00 Monday-Saturday and 1:00 to 6:00 on Sunday, and costs $3.00/person, free for ages 3 and under. The park is great w/ free basketball, volleyball, & playground. You are also just down the road a piece from Navitat Ziplines, and down the mountain from Wolf Ridge Ski Resort.

You are just minutes from America's favorite scenic byway, The Blue Ridge Parkway, motorcycle touring, biking, hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, zip lining, Segway tour…just about any outdoor activity! Or, take a quick ride to downtown Asheville to enjoy the first-rate restaurants, shopping, galleries, spas, and entertainment.

My friends and I stayed for my 40th birthday. The property is so fun with lots to see. The main house is beautiful and the cabins are modern and romantic. Loved every part of it!

Malfunctioning fire alarms
3 of our 8 nights were severely disturbed with fire alarms going off in the middle of the night in 3 separate buildings on 3 separate nights waking adults & terrifying children. Yonder has dismissed our complaint with a “sorry” & denying an issue with the alarms. These weren’t chirping low batteries. These were hard wired alarms emitting full blown alarms in the middle of the night. No one in our group smokes or vapes. Please contact me for more information. I am very unhappy with Yonder’s handling of our complaint.

Whisky Rock/Thanksgiving
The property accomodatiions were as described and the two cabins on the property were as described and fit our parties needs. There were some disappointments with the overall maintenance such as: 1. A broken faucet handle in the Master Bath. 2. The vents and AC/ Heatpump returns were disgustingly discolored, dirty and perhaps even home to mold. 3. There were numerous windows which had cobwebs (mostly outside) 4. There were several lightbulbs which did not function 5. The property had litter in evidence such as beer cans, broken solar fixtures and plastic bottles and caps. 6. Several comments regarding mattresses being well worn. Paying over $12, 000 for this stay was a bit heavy and charging $400 for both the early check- in as well as late check - out was way over the top.

Amazing Stay for our big family
Our stay at Whiskey Rock was Amazing!! It's the perfect place for our big family of 18 people. Each of my 2 daugthers' families stayed in the 2 tiny houses on the property and we spent most of our time around the fire pit eating and roasting marshmellows. We will most definitely be back

Couldn't have been better
We had a group of 15 stay at this property for a small wedding / birthday celebration. The house it absolutely stunning, huge and well stocked. We had a late brunch one morning with all of us seated at the table and played board games late into the night on the big comfy couch. The grounds are also beautiful - we had so much fun having fires, playing corn hole and exploring the trails on property. One thing I'll note is the cabins are further away from the main house than we expected, and are definitely a legit walk or drive at night. I had a lot of questions and requests and working with Yonder was great - they were always responsive and kind (even when my friend's car got stuck in the mud and we weren't able to get out of the house until well past checkout because we were waiting for a tow truck). We did end up having to pay some damages for the car getting stuck but the lawn was damaged so makes sense. We had such a fun, memorable weekend and can't wait to return! 10/10 would stay again (and hope to)

60th b'day as a great family event on this outstanding property.
Absolutely amazing mountain location, family facility and furnishings. Super clean, all amenities and then some. We are very happy with our stay and the facilities. We are not used to dealing with a third party agency for VRBOs, but we got details worked out, including some special accommodation to allow a decorator in to hang some balloons before our guest of honor arrived. Pisgah NF proximity for hikers and rolling hill roads for bikers were a real plus. We loved the trails on and near the property and lucked out with the weather - its all set up for rain or shine, and easily accommodated our 12 adults, 1 teen, and 1 baby... and our dog. She loved the trails. Excellent proximity to Asheville for those that wanted to run in... we had a story-telling, banjo fellow by the fire pit outside, and it was just great to experience out there... Easy access for our military members from Ft. Bragg, as well as Nashville, and Pittsburgh so for us outstanding location. One note would be to watch for the fees and taxes - our 3-day booking added up to almost another 30% of day rate in fees, with cleaning, etc. It was all worth it to us!

Spacious home with many features and nice outside cabins for extra sleeping space. About 15 minutes from Weaverville and 30 minutes from Asheville. Located in hilly area with farms and ranches, some views of hills and many trails. For a big group...an excellent home and site. Well decorated, good wifi, and 4 large TVs. Several outdoor eating areas and 2 firepits with large lawn areas and outdoor platforms for relaxation.

Fantastic Family Week!!
The whole family thought that the property was amazing, and the kitchen was extremely well stocked, from KitchenAid mixer which we used to make fresh pizza dough, to a large All Clad slow cooker which we used to make pulled pork. The double oven was helpful for feeding a large group. The older kids/young adults were very happy having their own spaces up at the two cabins, which were a walk away (suitable for teens, but I'd worry about younger kids up there without an adult present). It was perfect for our crew! Being in the mountains was nice...so much cooler in summer time. There was a great swing and hammock which were often used, and the cornhole boards provided hours of fun for all! Great pavilion on property for yoga, workouts or a family performance night if that's your thing. We had one slight issue the first night where the youngest child (4) locked a bedroom door from the inside and promptly fell asleep (it was a keyed lock and we called the emergency number to see where the key was, but they didn't know)...we were finally able to rouse the child to unlock the door. I cannot say enough good things about the house. Comfy beds, nice linens and towels, great water pressure, etc. Book this place!

Pleasant mountain home
A super pleasant mountain home with plenty of space to accommodate our group. The linens were soft and the beds were comfy. The property was very well kept and the fire pits were stocked with wood. The home had plenty of community seating from the dining rooms and the living room. There were plates and kitchen ware galore! The only thing I couldn’t find was a vegetable peeler, which was not a big deal. The cleanliness was rated okay, because of the pesky sugar ants in the kitchen and in the master bathroom. The exterminator came and sprayed outside upon our arrival, but did not help the unwanted guest from crawling around the sinks. The home is about 15 minutes from walker falls, which was beautiful. I recommend taking a 4x4 vehicle to this home, especially the cabins. The rocks are slightly bigger than your average gravel driveway. I also suggest you clearly define the main house with a different sign, every guest we had missed the first turn to the main house. Other than that, great home and great listing!
