Mountain Driving Tips: Given the winding, steep roads, always drive at a moderate speed and use low gears when descending. Watch out for wildlife crossings, especially during dawn and dusk.

Weather Considerations:
Winter: Beech Mountain's elevation means it receives a substantial amount of snow. Always check the weather forecast before traveling. Carry snow chains or use snow tires, and be prepared for occasional road closures.
Summer: Even in the warmest months, Beech Mountain remains relatively cool due to its altitude. However, summer storms can appear suddenly, so always be cautious while driving.
Fall: Fog can be a common occurrence, especially in the mornings or after rain. Drive with your headlights on and maintain a safe following distance.
Spring: Rain showers can make roads slick. Also, watch out for any leftover gravel or sand from winter road treatments.
Essentials:
Fuel Up: There are limited gas stations atop the mountain. Always ensure you have enough fuel before starting your journey.
Map or GPS: While cell service can be spotty in certain areas, a reliable GPS or good old-fashioned map will ensure you find your way.
Emergency Kit: Due to the mountainous terrain and variable weather, always keep an emergency kit in your car. This should include basics like water, snacks, a flashlight, first-aid kit, and blankets.
Exploring Beech Mountain is as much about the journey as it is the destination. As you wind your way through our mountain roads, take a moment to soak in the unparalleled beauty around you. Safe travels!
