Welcome to Top of the World!

Top of the World earns its name with truly expansive mountain top views and a spacious outdoor area sitting eye-to-eye with the surrounding peaks. The interior has a tasteful, contemporary mountain contemporary style, with an eclectic flair throughout, further elevated by the 2021 renovations performed by its new owners.

Guests can relax and enjoy the ridgetop views from the oversized deck, the hot tub, the porch swing, or the fire pit and picnic area. Relax indoors in the bright, open great room and bar, or the lower level game room and den while playing pool, foosball, or a game on the Multicade arcade machine. Or enjoy the comfy sitting area and the large HD Smart TV. There is also a new full bathroom on the lower level for added convenience.

There are two suites with king beds, one on the main level and one on the upper level. Both have HD Smart TVs, custom ensuite bathrooms, sitting areas, and beautiful views. The third is a generous king bedroom with an HD Smart TV and oversized windows revealing impressive long-range views. The fourth is a queen bedroom, also furnished with an HD Smart TV. The fifth is a bunk room with a twin-over-full bunk bed. A third full bathroom upstairs services these bedrooms.

The main level boasts a large, open kitchen with stainless appliances and marble countertops. The open dining area offers ample seating for eleven (11) guests and is adjacent to the sitting area and the great room. The great room features a stone fireplace with gas logs, a nice bar, an HD Smart TV, soaring ceilings, and a wall of windows and glass doors allowing sunlight in and framing the priceless mountain top views. There is a cozy sitting area with two custom armchairs in front of a dramatic view window, as well as a half bath/powder room.

The renovated lower level is a huge game room and den with a fourth full bathroom. It features an eight-foot slate pool table, a foosball table, and a cocktail-style Multicade arcade machine loaded with tons of retro and current video games. The den is open to the game room and has comfortable furniture and a large wall-mounted HD Smart TV.

For more mountain views and fun, visit nearby Hawk's Nest for Ziplining and Snowtubing - just a few minutes away. The new Alpine Wilderness Roller Coaster is a short eight (8) mile drive from Top Of The World. Sugar Mountain offers winter fun on the ski slopes, ice skating, and an 18-hole public golf course, all less than nine (9) miles away. Beech Mountain Ski Resort is about sixteen (16) miles away. Appalachian Ski Mountain and Tweetsie Railroad are about seventeen (17) miles away, on the other side of Boone. Grandfather Mountain and its famed Profile Hiking Trails are a short five (5) mile drive from the house. The village of Valle Crucis, with its famous Original Mast General Store and huge riverfront community park, is only eleven (11) miles away. Downtown Banner Elk is less than eleven (11) miles away. The town of Boone is less than twelve (12) miles away, and downtown Blowing Rock is less than fifteen (15) miles away. Friends and family getaway
The property was beautiful, clean and did not miss a detail. Three families and our young children enjoyed staying here as we learned to ski at the local slopes. Loved that the snow tubing was so close as well. Would love to come back for another stay soon. Couldn’t ask for a better property!

The views were amazing! The house was very accommodating to our large family. We were all able to be together but not feel crowded. The outdoor space was amazing along with the game area. We loved the option of multiple master bedrooms. The living room with fireplace was cozy. Will definitely be booking this property again for more vacations with friends and family!

Lives up to its name
This amazing property lived up to its name! The view was spectacular from any room in the house. The location was perfect, only about 15 minutes from shops, restaurants, hiking, and a winery. The house was clean, comfortable, and inviting. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed to prepare a variety of meals. And, the game room downstairs provided hours of entertainment on a rainy Sunday. We would definitely stay here again.

unexpected experience
we rented top of the world for mother's day fir the weekend and turned out property wasn't completely maintenance or ready for stay first day no hot water,hot tube not working, tv were not working, place was dirty and dusty kitchen was on ongoing remodel, grill was not safe to operate, staff was really nice but after making arrangements to serve this needs those were not completed during our stay

This was a wonderful place. I even told the family I could live there. The upgrades were wonderful and the view amazing. That said there are a few fixes that would make it perfect and not take much time. 1. A guide on how to use the TV behind the bar. It took us 3 days to figure it out. 2. The hot tub kept sitting off and would get cold. We would turn it back on but had to wait hours for it to heat up. 3. Almost all the cabinet doors in the kitchen were loose. 4. The fire pit is on uneven ground. People struggled sitting in chairs without falling over. A level place would be ideal. 5. More silverware. We had to go buy some because there wasn't enough for more than one meal. Outside of those small changes it was a great place and we would love to come back.

We were directed to this house after we had another property cancel on us last minute, and honestly this house was better. It was absolutely beautiful on the inside, had a well-stocked kitchen, lots of space to be together and be separate, and the views were amazing. Already planning on returning in the future!

Winter Wonderland
I can not say enough about this property. The home was beautifully designed, decorated and laid out. The views were heavenly and we were lucky enough to get snowed in and it was a true winter wonderland. You dont get to such a beautiful and remote picturesque place without a good 4 wheel drive, so be prepared in the winter. The rental property was great, very responsive, and was able to get us a snow shovel as when we arrived there was ice and snow built up on the walkway, but nothing a little bit of old-fashioned exercise couldn't tackle. We would definitely stay again, however would just bring a set of four tire chains as opposed to two, as the hill is a little brutal going up and down with a big truck as the road engineers for Seven Devils clearly did not get the memo from GMC engineers on the turning radius of a 2500 diesel:). The house is beautiful, comfortable, and has everything you need. Carolina Cabin Rentals keeps it very clean. It was holiday decorated. The drive to it is challenging but worth the amazing views. Avoid driving there at night or with oversized vehicles. Tight switchbacks and one lane wide for 2 way traffic.

Perfect Long Weekend
The house is beautiful and the views are spectacular. The photos don’t do the house justice. We enjoyed all our family time. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and storage for food items in cabinets. It felt luxurious inside and what fun we had in the game room. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were out of a 5 star hotel. Can’t recommend this house enough and we will be back. Convenient to lots of activities as well. Top of the World Property
Stay was great. When it suggests 4WD and chains in the winter- you need to come with that kind of vehicle. We did and still had difficulty. We slid off the road. While the neighborhood did scrape- it could not keep up with the snowfall and icy roads. There were a few accidents as the neighborhood has extremely steep inclines. Some alternate roads to the top of the mountain were completely in accessible. The property itself is beautiful. Beds are super comfy and the kids had a great time playing ping pong and sitting in the hot tub. Plenty of room to spread out. We had 10 people and did not feel cramped at all.

We stayed at Top of the World for a few days after Christmas. It really is on top the world. The house has incredible views and lots of big windows. We really enjoyed watching the light and clouds travel across the mountains. We also enjoyed sitting by the huge stone fireplace and reading beside the fire in the afternoons and evenings. We had a dip in the hot tub one night also. Much of the house, including the bathrooms, has been recently updated so it feels fresh and modern. The interior design is also updated and feels like a vacation/ mountain house without the usual (and tiresome) cabin theme (heavy logs, bears, etc). The house was well cleaned (other than the back deck -- see comment below). The beds and linens are all very nice. The kitchen has all the utensils, pots and pans you need to prepare meals, tea, and coffee. There is a good set of knives. There are no spices (other than basic salt and pepper) or cooking oils. The house is very big and can easily accommodate a large group. We had two teenagers with us and they really liked having big bedrooms to retreat to as well as the space in the basement with the pool table and ping pong table. For anyone staying at the house in the winter, you really do need to take the emails seriously about snow and access. The roads up to the house are steep, sharp angled, and narrow. It had a snowed a few days before we arrived and while the roads were mainly clear we definitely needed 4 wheel/ all wheel drive in a few icy/slushy spots. The only issues we had during our stay were that we couldn't get the TV in the main room (behind the bar) to connect to the internet (though the TVs in the bedrooms worked fine) and whoever stayed at the house before us had let their dog use the back deck and did not clean up the excrement afterwards, which was unsightly. The basement and area around the hot tub are not very inviting/ not updated like the rest of the house. Overall this is lovely, spacious, comfortable vacation house with amazing views. I would stay again.
