Enjoyed our Stay!
This property was nice for our little getaway! I loved the retro vibe of the house and the kitchen table is beautiful! The kitchen appliances have been updated since the posted pictures. We stayed on the main level and didn’t even go downstairs. We actually were on the go most of our trip and didn’t spend a lot of time at the house! I did enjoy the sunrise views from the deck and the gas fireplace at night! It was very close to the Hawks Nest Tubing, which is so fun! We also enjoyed hiking Rough Ridge, Skiing at Sugar Mt, the Alpine Roller Coaster, Dining in Banner Elk and shopping in Blowing Rock, and the Grandfather Mt Winery…ALL which seemed within 25 minutes of this house! The location was GREAT for our needs! The only thing that was hard for us was the trash removal. We got down the mountain with all our trash and the garbage dump was closed ALL DAY on Thursdays. It isn’t the owner’s fault, but how can this county expect you to bring your trash to dispose of and not be open every day in a touristy ski town? The people at a local restaurant were nice to let us use their dumpster. Overall, we would stay here again!

Weekend skiing
Check in was very easy. My husband and I took our teenage daughters skiing and tubing. The location of this house was perfect. We went skiing at Sugar. If it is snowing you absolutely need four wheel drive. The road was constantly salted going up to the house. So it was ok but the driveway is steep and we had to use four wheel drive. Other people on this road had parked at the bottom of their driveways. It was snowing the night we checked in. But the house was great!!

Ski weekend
Everything was wonderful! Property exactly as described. Our only two complaints were that checkout time was 11 am but the place to take our trash didn’t open until 1 pm. Also, it would have been nice to have a tv on the main level and not have to watch television in the basement. Otherwise, a wonderful stay and would highly recommend.

Not happy
We arrived on Wednesday both entranceways were covered in ice 4 to 8 inches deep we had trouble getting in with our luggage. I sent the realty company a message Thursday morning asking if the ice could be cleaned for us to get in safer. Someone did come out on Thursday but they only clean the walkways. Not the porch that you also had to walk on to get into the house which was also covered in 4 to 8 inches of ice. It was very dangerous trying to get in and out of the home. The downstairs smelled of musk mold and mildew we could not stay down there, this was the only room in the house with a family location TV. We stayed up on the main floor and try to keep the door to the lower level closed due to the smell. We also had to open the doors on the main floor because of the smell from downstairs. The main floor by the windows is cloth vertical blinds, and on these blinds were stink bugs and ladybugs. Which were hanging on the blinds and also dead all over the floor. They also were in the kitchen and got on us sitting on the furniture. The icemaker did not work and there were no ice trays in the freezer we had to go buy some . The trash compactor didn’t work. We had to leave a day early on Friday morning due to the smell in the house. It tore my allergies up and by the time I got home on Friday afternoon I was sick. I have now suffered the entire week with bronchitis due to the musky mildew smell in the house. Two other people with us also suffered from headaches from the musky smell. I did contact the realty company and they did refund me one night stay since we had to leave early. Which I thought was nice. I was upset with the fact that the house smelled so bad and the bugs on the main floor. I will not be booking this home again
