This motel gives you the bare minimum of what you require, and little else. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable (except for 2 rock-hard pillows), the AC worked, the shower had plenty of hot water, and there’s a mini-fridge, microwave, and Wi-Fi. But there’s no ice machine, no hotel lobby (only a walk-up window), no coat hangers, just 2 electrical outlets, no Kleenex, and of course no pool or breakfast. When I asked about ice, the manager suggested I get it from the mini-fridge's freezer—except there were no ice trays. When I mentioned that, he just said, “Sorry.”
The motel is located just off I-35, but noise was only a problem when a loud motorcycle or pickup truck went by on the service road. The motel room doors face outside, not an inside hallway, and at 5 a.m. one morning a man pounded on our door (and others) looking for his girlfriend’s room. The motel room door had what used to be a sliding chain lock, but there was no chain on it. There are security cameras, but I can’t say I ever really felt safe at this motel.
Our bathroom door was misaligned so that it scraped the floor and would not close unless I lifted it up to align it correctly. The bathroom fan didn’t work. The toilet tank took an incredible 4 ¼ minutes to refill—and not quietly, either. The in-room phones did not work.
We stayed 2 nights and there will never be a 3rd. There wouldn’t have been a 2nd if I could have found anything available that night in Austin at a reasonable price.
