Bus stop blocks away. Few minutes walk to Downtown, 5 minute walk to grocery store and restaurants. $5 Uber Downtown. 15-20 minute drive to the airport (8 miles).
Biking is a very popular way to get around within Clarksville and the nearby areas. There are so many restaurants and attractions nearby, that for some Clarksville residents, walking is an easy way to get the area.
If you prefer to ride the bus, Capital Metro Route 9 passes through Clarksville.
The location of this vacation rental gets the best of both worlds -- a taste of urban living in a quiet, quaint and old neighborhood. Located in the center of the city and only a stone’s throw from downtown’s many attractions. The neighborhood is hip and is the home base for much of the city’s creative crowd (there are many art galleries in Clarksville), and it’s a very fun place for singles, couples and family.

Excellent accommodation in Central Austin
We've stayed here for a few nights with three people. It's an excellent spot for exploring Austin: close enough to the downtown area, but absolutely quiet at night. The place itself has all the necessities you may need during your stay.

Great neighborhood
This dwelling is as advertised. Didn’t love the window units as the HVAC, but it’s what was in the description, so was expected. Nothing fancy but got the job done and loved the location. Property manager was easy to deal with.

Great location
I was expecting a small yard my dog could use but it was not connected to the unit. Other than the mild inconvenience of having to walk my dog down stairs many times a day I had a great time. Very close to downtown and my events.

Cute property in a charming neighborhood
The pictures are very accurate of this cute 1-bedroom VRBO. I was able to walk to coffee shops, a few restaurants and was only about a 5 minute Uber ride from anywhere throughout Downtown Austin. Communication with the host was excellent. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is that the stairs are steep going up to the living area. It was ok for me, but a consideration if you have any issues with stairs. I was able to park in the driveway with no problem and felt safe walking to stores and restaurants. Great location and value.

Rather old, no frills place
I needed the place just to sleep at night, nothing really more. It's a fairly old building, uneven floors, very steep stairs to get to the apartment. The property manager was super attentive and helpful. Could use quite a bit of updating - the laundry facilities in the apartment don't work and the laundry facilities in the back of the building are kind of sketchy. They get the job done, but it's a mess back there. Parking can be an issue - I had an early flight out the morning that I checked out and the neighbor in Unit A had parked their car behind me, blocking me in. All worked out though, because the property manager got in touch with the Unit A folks and they moved their car the night before. So it was a non-issue when it mattered. Neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and it served its purpose for somewhere to sleep. Good restaurants nearby.

Location was great
How did this property get such a good rating (which is what I went by when looking at properties)? It's possibly the worst VRBO rental I've ever gotten in 20+ rentals. The pictures look nice, but everything is run down and neglected. I don't mean old and I don't mean "character". Other people commented on the cleanliness, but let me count the ways that it was unclean (there is not room to list them all) I'll start with the microwave not being cleaned out from the last people, to coffee down the front of the dishwasher ,to stacks of laundry on the wash machine and dryer in the "laundry shed" that only had hot water and was closed by a brick, to a toilet brush that was so gross I that I bought a new one to replace it. Unless you are a "kid" and just want a flop house, save your money and rent something else. We stayed 5 nights only because I would not have gotten our money back and we got up and got out as soon as possible. I planned on cooking, but gave up on that idea immediately. (There were only 2 spoons total. And knives that would not cut anything). I made toast and coffee then left for the day. Don't be taken by the pictures like I was.

I like old historic funky houses but.....
Given the price a rental brings in Austin I was expecting too much since this was on the lower end of the rental charge..but a few things could have been done realatively cheap to make the apartment more comfortable. A mattress frame to take the box spring off the floor and possibly a box spring cover at the very least. There are no bedside or table lamps so the only illumination is overhead lighting on the ceiling fan. The lights in the steep stairway going up to the apartment are burned out or nonfunctioning. A few more hooks or adding some towels bars in the bathroom would be useful other then just the two tiny hooks behind the door. And perhaps a small cabinet to place the towels in other then a basket sitting on the floor. I only saw one smoke alarm sitting top of the fridge. Overall the place was clean. The couch isn’t the most comfortable due to it’s design and there isn’t any other seating in the living room. The house sits on one of the more unattractive blocks in clarkesville but the neighborhood is a great location for walking or biking to all Austin has to offer. The pics are accurate other then the washing machine in the unit was still broken and there was an extra box spring and mattress on the floor in the bedroom. If you’re on a budget and want to stay close to downtown this place will suffice. The kitchen had a mis mash of kitchenware and I was happy to have a French press.

Extremely Unpleasant
Before we came the owner said she only accepted pet fee via Zelle (not the VRBO app) which is against VRBO policy obviously but we figured fine it’s $120 we can save her some fees. We walked in and there was an overwhelming smell of cats and urine. There was a thick layer of dust and grime on everything and dirty pots and pans, paint buckets, and random items were all just haphazardly shoved into the broken cupboards. We had both wall air conditioners set to 60 for several hours (one of which had an alarm going off for filter replacement) and it had to be at least 85 if not hotter in there. The windows were so filthy you could not see out of them. There was a soiled mattress shoved into the closet. Neither of our two computers could connect to wi-fi so we tried to call the host who had a barely audible outgoing voicemail message that said she only accepts text messages, so we text her, no response for hours. The washer and dryer were both broken but the listing said there was a washer and dryer in the shed in the backyard, the backyard gate was locked, we texted the owner for the code and she was still not responding so we said we were going to contact police, she immediately texted back at that point and said there was nothing wrong with the wi-fi and gave us a phony code to the yard gate that did not work. We asked her where the router was so we could try to reset it, no response, we tell her this is not acceptable and we would be contacting VRBO, she told us we should leave the property and once we did she would refund us but only after we left (we had no trust that she would actually do this and it was already 9 PM at this point so we were not able to load up all of our things and dogs and find an alternative place to stay). She changed the reservation to one night and refunded us less than half of the cost of our original six night stay. We left early the next morning checked into a hotel and let her know we had vacated but expect full refund. We opened a case with VRBO and are prepared to contest the charges with our credit card company. Horrible experience.

Not high-end but great location for the price
Pros: - Great location: close to restaurants, coffee shops, bars, Whole Foods yet a quiet/residential area. - Strong WiFi connection. - Clean - King bed was comfortable (didn’t use any of the other beds). - Backyard was a nice hangout but lots of leaves and spiderwebs up in the lanai. Make sure to ask for the gate lock code if you plan on using. - Host seems to have incorporated some suggestions from past reviews (beds are on frames, little end tables on sides of the king bed). Cons are pretty consistent with previous reviews. Lots of cons for us so we’re unlikely to stay here again but great location.: - Old home with cosmetic upgrades, but not down to the bones upgrades. Clean and functional. Kinda like one of those perfect location, funky hotels in the middle of Paris. - Be prepared with your smartphone flashlight to head up the stairs. There is a switch at the bottom, and at the top. The one at the bottom doesn’t work. In prior reviews. Maybe not fixable. - Kitchen wasn’t well-stocked with glasses. There was one wine glass, no drinking glasses but an ample supply of coffee cups. - No bath soap or gel. - Dryer has “do not use” sign so we did not wash any clothes as I’d hoped. - The shutters let in a lot of light at night. Bring eye mask for sleeping if needed. - Stairs are steep and shallow (not surprising in an older home). - Deadbolt doesn’t work (misaligned with the doorframe and cannot be engaged). Breaking into this apartment would be fairly easy in my opinion from the outside without needing the code or key. I suggest upgrading front door lock/handle to a deadbolt-type lock. - The couch/futon in the living room is pretty uncomfortable to sit on. I suspect sleeping on it would be very uncomfortable. - Towels are in wire baskets on the bathroom floor. - Adding a night light in the bathroom would be ideal for safety. You can open one of the bedroom doors and if you walk straight you’re headed right for the stairs. I worried every night that my half-asleep husband would take a tumble down the stairs instead of stumbling to the bathroom. - There is a sharp corner on the cabinet above the fridge that’s easy to smack your head on (about 5’ high). My husband did and has a small gash on his forehead now. Rounding off this corner would be a good idea. - It’s a bit suspect that the first two, 5-star reviews are from Mireille T. (same name as the host).

This place is within walking distance of all West 6th has to offer. A little longer walk to downtown, but reasonable. The place was clean and bed was comfortable. The stairs were narrow, steep and leaning. I would not have noticed if i was drunk. I think this would be grest for a girls/guys weekend. Not recommended for those with stair climbing issues. Totally recommend for young people. We're not young. We'd stay here again, but wed know a few things now. have noticed if i was drunk. noticdrunk.

Cozy spot
Went for a small getaway with my wife. The location is nice. House looks a bit old from the outside but that is understandable. If you or someone can't climb stairs or has knee problems I would look somewhere else. You need to climb steep stairs to reach the property. Overall house was nice and clean. The property is close to 6th street but not close to the main part of 6th street (bars, clubs). Plenty of scooters or bikes you can rent to get around town. I would stay here again.

Perfect for what we needed
What we needed was a place to sleep in a safe neighborhood while we ran around Austin all day long. With Austin being such a foodie town, we really didn't need anything more in the kitchen than dishes for leftovers and the coffee maker, but the kitchen *is* complete. The beds were comfortable. The TV never got turned on. Our only issue was that the washer & dryer in the apartment aren't functional, though there is one downstairs that is easily accessible. Had we known, we would have packed differently, because that did mean we had to switch our stuff out quickly in consideration for our neighbors. A word of warning: the stairs are steep and not very wide from front to back. We didn't have an issue, but our mid-size dog did. No injuries, but his paw pads slipped a few times coming down and his decent was a bit more rapid than he meant. All in all, we would definitely reserve this place again, if we get to come back.

Mediocre
Cable TV and antenna not hooked up, so there is no TV available. Light in stairway did not work. This was a safety issue. I reported this to the owner and she said that she would have it fixed the next day. Did not help us much. We had to use our own flashlight to find our way from the front door to the second floor of the property. Reading previous reviews, this was an issue in the past. Dirty windows gave the whole place a run down look. Beware that if the driveway is not available, then you will be forced to park in the street where there is only permit parking unless you are willing to park several blocks away. Also, you have to throw out your garbage when you leave and if you overstay you will be charged $100/hr. Beware.
