Comfortable cabin with a beautiful view
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing weekend. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed eating on the deck overlooking the water and having a fire down by the lake in the evening. Marc is a very friendly and accommodating host.

Crooked Lake Getaway
Baby Bear was a wonderful getaway for us. We especially enjoyed meals on the deck, lounging by the fire and cruising around the lake on the boat. Marc was friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. Although we did some exploring, we were happy to just hang out at the cabin and relax.

Private, quiet and peaceful
Very private, quiet and peaceful location. It rained most of our stay, but the lake and leaves were so pretty. We had games, puzzles and lots of channels on the rain days. The manager was very friendly and even left us a little gift when we arrived. We really did have everything thing we needed except for food. Thanks for a wonderful visit.

Fishing Cabin
Everything went great and the fishing was phenomenal. Definitely some of the best largemouth, small mouth, and pike fishing that I've had on smaller lakes up north. The fishing boat with a small gas engine was a nice touch and worked great for getting around the lake. The welcome bag of wine, meat, and cheese was great as well. The deck was a perfect place to eat meals and perfect having both a gas and charcoal grill on the deck available for grilling. Would definitely come back in a heartbeat!

Baby bear cottage
Marc was a great host. We rented the cottage for our 36th anniversary. The cottage was clean and cozy. We had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend. The view from the deck of the lake was beautiful. It was a short walk down the hill to the water. We enjoyed fishing from the dock, and the fishing boat with motor. The loons were wonderful to wat and hear in the mornings and evenings. We will certainly be returning again.

A perfect, peaceful getaway!
We enjoyed a lovely, peaceful week at Baby Bear and are already looking forward to our next visit. Having the kayaks and direct lake access was a really nice bonus as we went out almost everyday. The cabin is well appointed but with the amazing deck, you won't be inside much. If we weren't kayaking we were sitting on the deck enjoying the beautiful view. The wildlife was a great bonus...the loon couple delighted us with their calls and long running take off's, and while kayaking Crooked Creek (off the lake) we saw a bobcat on the shoreline. If you are looking to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty of nature, this is the place for you!

pictures don't do justice
The only way to enjoy the view from the tree house deck, that overlooks the lake, is to DO IT! Couldn't have enjoyed it more. What a lovely and charming place! Cottage was bright and cheery. Everything was perfect!!! Quiet, serene and beautiful! Marc went above and beyond to make our stay one of the best getaways my wife and I have ever had. A cottage with a million dollar view!

Some good and some bad
Cabin was fine. Would have been a tight fit for 6 people. Driveway wasn't plowed and my cars got towed because I had to park on the street. Bedroom and bathroom get extremely cold with the doors closed

Baby Bear " This One Is Just Right"
Booked Baby Bear for a few days ( August 19-23) to get away from the city life. This place was amazing. From the moment we walked in we instantly relaxed! Baby Bear is semi-secluded with a beautiful view of Crooked Lake. We spent most of our time on the tree house deck that's has the best view of the lake. Since Baby Bear is a dog friendly rental we were able to take our two Labs who had the time of their lives running and jumping of the deck into the lake. The cottage was cozy and clean. Marc was a first class host checking in with us via email to make sure we were comfortable and everything was going well. Would totally re-rent Baby Bear for the fall color change! If you want a quiet, semi secluded cottage with a spectacular view of the lake rent Baby Bear!! 🐻🐻🐻

Loved The Lake
This is a great place to unwind, especially if you want to be on the water. The public boat launch was just two doors down, although Marc had us covered if we didn't have our own watercraft. The lake wasn't busy (even on an August weekend), which was nice for fishing. We caught a lot of rock bass, largemouth bass, and perch. We saw a huge pike, but it didn't want our bait. The need was comfortable and firm, but the best surprise was the amazing shower. Great water pressure, and no stinky water. The deck was a great place to eat dinner, and the view of the lake was wonderful. Marc made sure we were well taken care of, and it was nice to find a pet-friendly rental. We brought our dog, who was amazed by the turtles right off the dock. Would recommend for fisherman and nature lovers.

Great Cabin!
My husband and I along with our two goldens stayed for a week at this wonderful little cabin. The cabin was great and the very large treetop deck was awesome. The view is beautiful and it was so peaceful. We spent many hours on the deck listening to the loons, hearing the elk calling to each other every morning, and had several sightings of a bald eagle coming and going in the trees around us. My husband spent a lot of time fishing using the fishing boat provided with the cabin. He caught some perch and blue gill. He saw otters playing in the shallows while he was fishing. We saw a flock of wild turkeys runnung down the road. My golden boys loved the deck to run around on and all the swimming they got to do. Marc was a very friendly and helpful host. We also hiked several of the lakes and hiking trails in the area and had a great time. Clear Lake state park is beautiful. Totally loved our stay. Hoping to come back again sometime next year.

Spectacular view
The property had a beautiful setting with deck nestled in the trees overlooking the lake but the property/cabin was in need of some cleaning and updating. The cabin had broken broken chairs, and too much stuff in closets leaving little room for our personal items. The biggest downside was owner said had just updated to a faster Internet. We did not have Internet most of the time and when we were online it was very slow. Although we didn’t need it all the time we couldn’t check for workers needed. Also could not use the Direct TV as channels would not load.

Lovely Permalog Cabin with Vintage Charm, Amazing View & Pet Friendly
My husband and I, plus our two dogs, enjoyed our recent stay at Baby Bear. It rained quite a bit, so it was too "soggy" by the water (where the fire pit location is) to have a campfire, which was disappointing but the covered part of the deck was a wonderful place to sit & watch the day (and nature) go by. The little cabin was spotless upon our arrival. Truly SPOTLESS! It had everything necessary for cooking and the charcoal grill is right outside by the big deck. We didn't get a chance to try out the kayaks because of the weather but there were 2 on the shore for us to use. Although we weren't there long enough to need them, it's a nice plus that there's a washer/dryer. Along with the metal roof, deck & good maintenance of the cabin, something else that really impressed me were the tube lights. I spent a good 15 minutes looking for a switch to "turn off the lights" someone else had left on. They look just like a recessed ceiling light and are a wonderful way to provide light toward the back of the cabin, in the dining area. :) So, why the 4 star instead of 5? Absolutely nothing major but a few things that kept me from giving a full 5 star rating. First, while the inside was spotless, the outside area wasn't. We picked up assorted paper trash, wads of fishing line, a few cans, etc that were either right by the cabin or down by the shore. Second, neither of the bedroom windows had screens, so we didn't open them because we didn't want mosquitoes & other bugs to get in. It wasn't stuffy or hot in the bedroom, but it made us sad that we couldn't lie in bed & listen to the echoing loon's call or the wind whispering in the pines. Third, the beautiful, heavy wooden, back door's screen door has no latch to keep it shut. Since we had our dogs, we couldn't leave the wood door open because they could nudge the screen door open and get loose. Minor things, all. Would we love to stay there again? Yes, & hopefully we will. Mark is a very friendly and professional owner & his Baby Bear cabin has a gorgeous setting that's great for relaxing & unwinding.
