About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

The Stable Cottage is situated in an Idyllic Rural Location near Woodchurch.

Situated in quiet countryside close to the attractive village of Woodchurch, surrounded by over 2 acres of garden and paddocks, this attractive, hayloft/stable  conversion enjoys beautiful views across open countryside. It has character and charm with oak beams and old stripped pine. The original gantry adds to its charm, although now only used as a fire escape. The cottage is ideally located for visiting numerous National Trust Properties and Gardens or for a trip to Tenterden with its steam railway. Bodium, Dover and Leeds castles and the ancient town of Rye, as well as the cathedral city of Canterbury are easily visited from this location. Numerous tracks and footpaths offer visitors the opportunity to explore the area on foot or by bicycle. The Woodchurch Rare Breeds Centre is situated on the outskirts of Woodchurch. 'Shop till you drop' at the designer factory outlet at Ashford.
On the ground floor there is well equipped kitchen/diner and a large comfortable lounge. From the kitchen/diner a staircase leads to the first floor where the large double bedroom and the second small bedroom (see photos for second bedroom options) have outstanding views across open countryside. The two small single beds in the second bedroom are designed to fit together to make a king-size bed. There is plenty of hot water to allow for a long soak in the bath or a refreshing shower following a hard day's sightseeing. There is ample parking . The Stable Cottage can
be booked direct with the Owner. This means prices can be kept low and represent excellent value.

Great Location and Hosts!
Carol was a lovely host and made us feel very welcome upon arrival. We got to pat one of her adorable dogs and see cute sheep out the window every day. Lovely place to stay if you like quiet and a rural location! Some of the roads close to the cottage are one way just to bare in mind and we had deer crossing where the woods are one night (which we were very excited to see!), so please drive carefully. Cottage was nicely decorated and comfortable, and with a smart TV which was an added bonus! Will definitely recommend to family and friends :) Thank you so much for a lovely stay! :)

Property owner is very social, friendly and helpful. Some items in property are in for an update ; -larger main bed ( 2 x 80 cm) with firmer mattresses -remove bath for walk-in shower, to allow for more space in bathroom

you cant get more rural than this
This is a historical property converted stables, Historical properties come with creaking floors, low doorways but they more than make up for it in charm and character. it is in the perfect location to experience the Kent countryside, sheep and chickes outside the window. Short drive to the local pub and town.

Peaceful Rural Location
The property was in a wonderful, peaceful, rural location with lovely views of the owner's sheep in the field. All necessary amenities were provided and the owner very kindly provided us with supplies for our cooked breakfast and provided milk! The owner was very friendly. Parking was easy. The Summer house was great to use. The cottage was lovely. A wonderful experience and I can highly recommend it.

Good Location and beautiful views
Property was nicely situated on owner's land although some individual, private outdoor space would have been appreciated. The stairs were a little tricky (for us elderly folk) although probably would not be problematic to younger people - might be worth a mention in online listing though. Carol was exceedingly pleasant, very friendly and helpful and we very much enjoyed out stay.

Short Break.
We found the whole process of booking very easy, lots of communication between myself and Carol, she was very informative about the local area, and places to eat or visit. The cottage, was warm and cosy. We had everything there that we needed. We enjoyed our stay, and the added bonus of some fresh eggs from the chickens on the day we left. Thoroughly recommend the cottage,

Down on the farm
An amazing location with peace and quiet in abundance. Beautiful scenery and the stay was made even more wonderful with the sheep and chickens to keep us entertained. We enjoyed a lazy afternoon one day, sat in the summer house with a bottle of wine and watched the dragon flies flitting over the Lilly pads in the pond. So relaxing and peaceful.

Charming place, 360 degree view of countryside fron every window plus private summerhouse to chill. Plenty of sheep, chickens and bunnies to keep children occupied and also learning them how to look after those on a daily basis. Lots of safe garden space for them to run around in too. The hosts were very kind and always around if you need anything with lots of information on best places to see.

A perfect break
Our stay at Stable Cottage was perfect! Carol could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. The cottage is beautiful and picturesque with outstanding views of the country side. We loved meeting all the animals and Carol even provided us with a lovely chilled bottle of wine and some eggs from her chickens which were delicious! The cottage is in prime location to visit local National Trusts and gardens, we stopped by Sissinghurst, Great Dixter and had trips into Rye and Tenterden. An over all great summer holiday and we hope to return again soon! Thank you again Carol & Robin

Properly rural retreat
Arrived at Stable Cottage after a prolonged period of 12 hour days (and a looong drive!) and my wife and I were greeted by the very helpful Carol, the property owner/manager, three sheep, a pony, assorted chickens (who subsequently provided eggs for breakfast - thanks to owner Carol!) and two lovely Collie dogs...after this we kind of knew we were in the right place - even before setting a foot through the door! The cottage itself is comfortable, quaintly original and was spotlessly clean. It also provides 270 degree views over farmland, the owners attractive gardens, a local oust house and hills beyond - which combine to really underline the fact you're "in the country" Geographically Woodchurch is a well placed base from which to explore much of Kent and a little of East Sussex and we spent a very relaxing four days doing just that but always looked forward to our return to Stable Cottage each evening...and that we will return to Stable Cottage in the future isn't in question...we'll be back! Many Thanks Phil and Jean B

Lovely stay in peaceful surroundings
The cottage is in a very peaceful setting but well located for lots of attractions, and within easy reach of a variety of beaches. The kitchen is well equipped with all you need for self catering, and the bedrooms were very comfortable with great views. Carol was a great host and made sure we had all we needed. We didn't have any issues with slow wifi as mentioned in other reviews! Thanks for a lovely stay.

We had a lovely short break with our 3 year old. The property was just the right size for us and had enough equipment to cook if you want to. The animals are right outside the window which is great for kids and there is lots of space to run around. Carol was very helpful and a lovely host. The weather was great too!
