Walking Distance to Downtown Asheville & River Arts District, Off-Street Parking

RIVER ARTS HOME - Cozy, comfortable, close to everything you’re coming to Asheville to see.

This newly renovated home is close to everything! Walk to Downtown Asheville, the South Slope Brewery District and the RAD (River Arts District.) The Biltmore Estate is only 2 miles away (5-minute drive.)

The right half of the house is the peaceful bedroom wing. The left side has an open plan living/dining/kitchen with center island where friends and family can gather. Just outside the kitchen is a large deck (with gas grill) that overlooks the peaceful quarter-acre grassy back yard. Nighttime views of distant city lights wrap around all sides of the deck.

A short walk brings you to the RAD with all its art studios, shops, coffeehouses, breweries, restaurants, bars and music halls, and also bike shops. Rent an E-bike to tour the RAD, the greenways and the riverbank parks (on your own or in a guided group tour). Asheville (AKA “Beer City”) has dozens of nearby breweries to visit – including the New Belgium Brewery (1.2 miles away).

A 10-minute walk from the house will bring you to the scenic French Broad River where wide paved riverbank walkways run for miles. The riverbanks are a favorite place to stroll, jog, skate, and bike. For a lazy way to experience the river - Zen Tubing in the RAD will rent you inner tubes (and pick you up at the end of the float trip.)

Downtown and the South Slope (15-20 minute walk, or a short drive) are famous for restaurants and bars and breweries, shops and museums – and too many things to list here. When you reserve a stay at the River Arts Home, you’ll get an extensive list of all the things in and around Asheville that you will want to see and do, as well as a list of favorite restaurants.

Enjoy the best of Asheville in this meticulously renovated home located in the heart of a lovely mountain city. The BILTMORE ESTATE is two miles away (a 5-minute drive to the 1 Lodge Street entrance) and Asheville’s restaurants, coffeehouses, museums, art galleries, and live entertainment are even closer. It’s a 20-minute walk or a 3-minute drive to DOWNTOWN. The RIVER ARTS DISTRICT – with sidewalk cafes and over 185 artists’ studios – is just a 5-minute walk. The house is CLOSE TO EVERYTHING, so you can take a break from sightseeing or shopping to relax at home. Chill out in the over-stuffed outdoor furniture on the deck that overlooks a large back yard or dine al fresco. This is the place to gather on balmy summer evenings to watch the moon rise and to soak up the relaxing atmosphere (the deck is illuminated by low-voltage lighting.) The living room has a large-screen smart TV over the fireplace. Stay in touch with high-speed WiFi.

The kitchen has gorgeous granite countertops, all new appliances and a gas grill just outside – perfect for preparing gourmet meals. The kitchen is stocked with coffee and tea, condiments & spices. Enjoy breakfast at home in your jammies or walk/drive to a nearby art café for a full breakfast.

Fido is welcome – there’s a large back yard and a one-acre fenced dog park not far away in the RAD. Kids of all ages will enjoy the nearby Western North Carolina Nature Center, a fishing dock not far away on the banks of the French Broad River, and family-oriented canoeing, tubing, rafting through the Biltmore Estate as well as gem mining near the Estate. Teenagers might like the skateboard park, which is a 30-minute walk from the house. The home also has baby equipment available on request – pack n play crib, high chair, infant bath.

Dozens of amazing antique stores (bargain prices!) are 5-10 minutes away. This central location in a vibrant city neighborhood is within easy reach of everything you want to see and do. Keep fit by walking to one of the best clay tennis courts in the US or at the YWCA (award-winning architectural design.) Golf courses are a short drive away. Shop daily at nearby farmers markets or at various organic grocery stores.

The Owner is always available to answer any question you might have.

Quite neighborhood and close to everything.
Due to the horrible devastation in Asheville we considered canceling our trip. I’m so glad we didn’t. The host was very helpful and the house was so cute and had everything we needed. It was so clean , comfortable and on a quiet street. It is convenient to downtown and the Biltmore. The River arts district needs the support of visitors. Thanks Georgia for a lovely getaway.

Very nice stay!
I stayed 10 days in this cottage while I toured and became familiar with Asheville. The property was very handy to all the places I visited. It was clean and very well appointed. The cookies waiting for me upon check-in were a nice touch! The host was responsive and very accommodating. Thank you for a nice place to stay!

Overall our stay was amazing!! The location was perfect, the home nicely remodeled. Our only complaints were that the homeowner had 3 hoses crossing the small sidewalk. It was dangerous trying to walk across it without triping. Also, the tub wouldnt drain properly, leaving you standing in ankle deep water. After mentioning these to the owner, the only response we got was to not alllow our dogs to tinkle on the new sod in the front yardwalwithout tripping

South French Broad House
The house is well maintained and the host did a great job of stocking the house with all the little things to make the stay easy down to warm cookies waiting for us on arrival. Everything about the inside of house met the descriptions and our expectations. The house sits in South French Board and the condition of the neighborhood is still improving. Though it is only a half a mile to downtown we did not feel comfortable walking to it. The outside area such as the deck and backyard are well set up but the conditions of the surrounding area made it less desirable to use. Overall, we were happy with our stay.

Lovely cottage
The house was lovely and fully equipped with everything that we needed. The single full bathroom was very nice. Kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed. I really enjoyed being able to have my dog there and the backyard was great for the dog (not fenced in but plenty of space.) Great deck! We were close to quite a few breweries and restaurants. The owner left us a sweet note and a plate of treats for us when we arrived. King size bed room was very nice. Queen bed felt a bit on the small side to my 2 friends who stayed in that room. Parking off street was very nice but be prepared to go over the curb some if there are 2 cars. Neighborhood was wonderful. We saw a bear while walking around the block! Neighbors did fire off a bunch of fireworks on 4th of July that landed on our cars snd the house but thankfully no obvious damage to anumyyhing. She did want my personal address which was odd to me and when asked about how she intended to use that information she just said that it was in her rules in the contract, her house, her rules. Read all of her rules before you stay here if you have any reservations about her having your personal information. Overall was a great stay!

House was likely recently renovated. Very cute, nice quiet back deck. Hot tub which we didn’t try. Great location with very short distances to most all attractions. Off street parking was a plus (would be better if the street curb could be modified for both parking spaces, a car might bottom out on one side). Comfortable furnishings and bed. Plenty of towels and good water pressure. Washer and dryer were a surprise but we did’t use them. Overall great property that we would use again.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was tastefully remodeled and nicely laid out. The house was stocked with all needed supplies. The large elevated backyard deck was pleasant with sufficient furniture and tables, a gas grill and a view of the tree shaded yard. Off street parking was available. We would stay here again on our next Asheville trip.

Beautiful home in a perfect location!!
The River Arts Retreat is an exceptional rental property; even nicer than the pics! The extremely clean, well appointed home is in a nice residential neighborhood in the RAD district so we were able to walk a lot. The artist's studios & galleries were close by (it was quite enjoyable to meet & watch them at work:) & downtown is a little over a mile from the house. The lovely home was very comfortable, has a large deck overlooking a nice back yard & the city in the distance, contains more kitchen gadgets than any rental I've stayed at ( potato masher, veggie peeler, SHARP knives, wine opener, & more!), & is comfortably furnished with beautiful artwork! We slept quite well due to the comfy beds & lack of street noise. Also the amount of storage in the bedrooms is fantastic & the owner also thoughtfully included hooks on doors for more clothes; great for us overpackers! She also provides a lot of the basics you'll need like paper towels, toilet paper, lots of spices, dish & laundry detergent & she even left us delicious home made cookies with a welcome note! She answered our questions promptly & left many maps, pamphlets & other info about the area! It was one of the best rental experiences & I plan to stay here again! Don't hesitate to book this hidden gem!!

Wonderful Stay in Asheville
Our stay was very nice and relaxing. The property is walking distance to a lot of activities and very central to the Arts District. Georgina was fantastic providing reading about the area before the trip as well as sending emails when it was rainy with other activities. I loved the fenced in porch to sit in the back yard. The dogs loved staying there as well as there are a lot of walking paths close by.

We really enjoyed staying at this home. It is well-stocked with supplies and housewares, and has newer appliances. The location is very convenient to downtown! The owner lives in a home just behind this property. The house has been updated and everything felt fresh and clean. We were very happy to find such a nice place that allowed us to bring our dogs.

The River Arts home was adorable and very well appointed. Georgia was responsive and emblematic of Southern hospitality. This location is very convenient to all Asheville has to offer. We would highly recommend the Curate (get a reservation) and Bradbury Bookstore and Champagne Bar. The Biltmore is spectacular, also easy, nearby hiking and be sure to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway enroute back to Asheville. Great long weekend destination! Thanks Georgia for a wonderful place to use as our home base while in Asheville.

A Great Stay at the River Arts Home!
This welcoming and comfortable house was perfect for our getaway. When you walk in the door, the feeling is so warm and peaceful. We liked the open plan living room with comfy sofa and a rustic brewery style kitchen island. A well- appointed kitchen makes food prep easy (the large refrigerator with ice maker is a plus.) The whole house has everything a traveler could want or need, and is spotlessly clean. The house is located near everything we wanted to see and do on our trip to Asheville, plus there is easy access to all the Interstate highways. It's a short walk to the local crafts shops, restaurants, bars and breweries in the River Arts District. We walked to the Wedge Brewery and from there across the river to the New Belgium Brewery. In the evening, we caught an entertaining show at the Grey Eagle. It was great not to have to worry about parking or driving home after drinks! We apent the next day at the Biltmore Estate. In the evening, we opted for a quick, inexpensive Uber to visit Downtown Asheville. The kingbed was luxurious, and we slept very well in this quiet neighborhood. Our stay at the River Arts Home was so much fun. We will definitely be back!

Christmas at The River Arts Retreat
The River Arts Retreat is the perfect get-away-to-Asheville home! This home is immaculate and the photos do not begin to reflect the calm, peaceful, vibe. The furnishings are modern, the beds and bedding are super comfortable and the owner has thought of everything to make your stay delightful. She is easy to contact to answer questions and offer suggestions. The back yard and beautifully appointed deck area is an added bonus! This house is on a quiet street, yet is close to everything we wanted to see and do in the Asheville area. We can't wait to return!
