The house is set on 10+ acres - beautiful surroundings. Kids loved the hot tub/jacuzzi, fire pit and swimming in the river. Very pleasant porches to sit and read, or play cards.
The house and property were beautiful. My husband got to fish a few times in the river. We walked on the property a lot. Communication was great with Glen. He was very quick to respond to problems. There were some hornets outside the house and coming into the house, but it was taken care of right away. Also, due to the cold They weren't a problem The second and third day while we stayed. The mountains in the background from master bedroom were beautiful. Every morning there were deer in the back yard. We went to safari park and zoo, natural bridge, and Monacan Indian museum while we stayed here. We went to Vito's, Amherst corner restaurant, and the briar patch in Amherst for dinners/lunch.
We had a wonderful time and can't thank Glen (and Wanda) enough. We loved the peace and quiet close to nature and the pristine water of the Tye River. We had an amazing time fishing, swiming, floating our week away! We would definitely stay here again!

Quiet and Relaxing!
This is my second stay here and I loved it. Great space and great environment. The owners are awesome and take care of their guests!!
We loved our stay at this beautiful property. The house and property were extremely well maintained. The online photos don’t do justice to how beautiful and peaceful this home is. There were a lot of thoughtful touches that let us know the owners care about the renters and their feedback. Overall 5/5.

Gorgeous and relaxing!
Had a great time, everything was clean and as listed. I would stay here again. Thanks so much!
This is a beautiful old home right on the tye river with beautiful views all around. Easy check in/out process and owner and property mangers respond quickly to any questions. I highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area.
My husband and I needed some time away from the city with our two dogs and this place could not have been more perfect. From the hot tub, to the deer, to the gorgeous sun sets and beautiful home we loved every minute and will be back! Thank you.

Rustic, clean, easy
The location and viuews are great- Its a great house that had all we needed. Its remote enough that you feel far away, but close enough to "stuff" that you can do day trips ior grocery shopping easily. I would highly recommend this property
OMG!!! This house is wonderful. The views, hot tub, fire pit and quietness is to die for! The view from the master bedroom is so beautiful. Words alone doesn’t do the property justice. We even got a chance to meet Wanda and Glen. They are truly amazing people. Thank you!!! I’ll be back!!!
This lovely property offers seclusion and relaxation.
The checkin process was a breeze and Wanda, the property manager was great. Very responsive and attentive to all our questions.
My family and I really enjoyed getting away and reconnecting in such a beautiful setting.
We're looking forward to our next visit already!
This was out home base for our daughter’s college graduation and we couldn’t have dreamed of a better location. The house slept our family comfortably and provided beautiful mountain views as far as the eye could see. Just minutes from breweries and wineries but the best experience by far, aside from the graduation, was an early morning cup of coffee on the back porch watching all the birds, rabbits, and deer start their day.
Loved that the main bedroom had it's own bathroom but it had poor lighting. Internet service was fair. The additional porches were a plus. The firepit area was nice, the solo stove was a nice touch. Could use a set of steps to get in as it was a bit sketchy walking the whole way around in dim lighting. Overall, I would definitely stay there again!
Me and my friends had a fun get together/bachelorette at this house. The pictures do not do it justice! I highly recommend they update them, because it was way better than I expected. The views were amazing. The fire pit and hot tub were great. The house was super clean and nice. The beds were comfortable. All together it was great and exactly what we wanted! I highly recommend staying here!!
Spent the weekend with family from Va Tech and UVA. Very peaceful and relaxing. Had outdoor fires and just caught up on life. About 20 minute from from brewery. Really enjoyed be able to bring our pet. FYI you can bring your dog to the breweries as well if you eat outstide.

Awesome Farmhouse
This house and location is everything the owners claim them to be. The location is stellar with beautiful views of rolling farm pastures with mountains in the distance. Plenty of wonderful outdoor seating to take it all in. The serenity and quiet you will experience here will allow you to fully enjoy everything the Virginia countryside has to offer, but it will be hard to leave to do it!
From that perspective the location puts you within easy driving distance of Lynchburg to the South, and Charlottesville to the North, but the real pleasure is driving up to the mountains on routes such as 151 that offer wineries and a choice of breweries with excellent dining options. Just perfect sightseeing and dining.
On top of all that the owners and their property representative were super nice, and so happy to accommodate our needs. This VRBO is a winner.
Beautiful House with Great Mountain Views. Huge secluded location, with plenty of options to hike around the property. Outside was kept up nicely, as was inside. Kitchen was fully stocked. Heat works very well (we had a few cold nights). Location is great for hitting breweries and wineries. My only negative comment is that you cannot see the river from the house, although you can hear it. River is short walk down the driveway. River looks good for fishing , which we had planned on doing, but weather was a little too cold . Internet and TV worked well. I worked a few days while there and internet speed was great. All in all a great place.
For cleanliness-there were many, many flies in upstairs hallway & the bedrooms, & a dead baby owl in the fireplace. (Possibly related?)
Accuracy of listing-the whirlpool tub did not work, there was no working vacuum cleaner (there was no bag in it & we could not find any) and no working internet.
All in all - we had a great time - there were 6 adults and 3 children and 2 dogs, there was plenty of room for all of us!
Wanda was great in answering when we called with questions.
We would return and recommend this farmhouse to any family that enjoys plenty of space and a quiet atmosphere!

Great place to have fun and relax
Very nice charming farm house with beautiful views and lots of privacy in a pristine setting. Very stocked kitchen and plenty of dishes for entertaining. The outside dining table was awesome with the view the back yard brings. The basement was fun for ping pong and poker. Close to all the breweries and vineyards. It is not very fancy if you are in to that, but if you want a country feel with no stress this is the place. Direct TV and Wifi (had to call for password) were nice. AC worked great! There is a huge gas grill! We saw lots of deer and cows as well. I would highly recommend this property for a vacation getaway for family, bachelorette/bachelor parties, couples, etc. Lastly, the property manger was great in responding quickly to any correspondence we had.

Very Nice Place
This property very much fit our needs for a family reunion, with other families living near by. The accommodations were great we had room to sleep 10 comfortably, and the outside porches were a meeting point for all. The basement was a great after dark hangout for card playing and games. The yard was used to it's extent by games and fun, although I deducted 1 star for the lack of mowing a bigger yard area out of the advertised 10 acres. We would have liked to had a kickball game but the mowed portion of the yard wasn't large enough. The river was another highlight it's cool refreshing water was an afternoon delight. Wanda Quick was very nice explained everything and answered all questions. We would definitely stay here again when the reunion returns to central VA.

2 night stay
The property manager was quick to answer the phone and gave instructions and check in was easy. However the house is in need of some real renovations. The beds were horribly hard and the master bedroom bed was basically unsleepable. The AC only cooled the downstairs and the upstairs was terribly hot. There were cobwebs in every corner and I even walked thru one going into a bedroom. The microwave did not work. I had to scrub out the coffee pot and machine before I could use it. However the kitchen was outfitted very well with utensils, pots and pans, and dishes. There are mostly single beds in the upstairs bedrooms, except for one room with a small full, and they were bare and sparse. Sort of spooky. The TV had very few available channels and WiFi was sketchy at best. The water pressure was very low so taking a shower was difficult. I felt as though the cleaning fee was too high. On a positive note, the location was nice if you have a big group and want to play yard games and sit on the porch. The porch was lovely and the view was nice. We saw deer every morning and early evening. The house is NOT walkable to the river.
