Cozy, dog friendly cottage on the edge of Kinblethmont Estate near to golf and beaches
The West Lodge is a delightful little detached country cottage with its own large private garden about 3 miles from Arbroath. It is comfortably furnished with two bedrooms, cosy sitting room, dining/ activities room bathroom with shower and new kitchen. To either side and behind the garden are the mature mixed woodlands of Kinblethmont estate. The West Lodge is set back from the road with a lovely large mature garden all round the house containing shrubs and plum trees. The garden is open to the road however there is a walled in area for small children/pets (the wall is about 2 foot tall). There is also outdoor seating and a BBQ. Behind the house is a farm road that leads through unspoilt woodland into the heart of Kinblethmont estate. There there are woodland walks and the 2 acre walled garden (about 1 mile away) with children's play area, badminton, table tennis and ball games.

Perfect getaway
We had a lovely stay at the West Lodge. The cottage was as described, and very clean and well-equipped. The owner was very helpful from the time we made the first contact, from accommodating our additional guests, providing us with a grill, to thoughtfully leaving us some biscuits and milk at the cottage. The cottage was very clean and very well-maintained.
The cottage is in a very good location to explore the area, and there is plenty to do. It certainly helps as the owner gave us lots of useful tips. We explored the beach in the nearby area, which is absolutely lovely, and we were lucky with the weather.
Would definitely recommend this cottage!

Fantastic Break
This is the second time we have stayed at West Lodge in Kinblethmont and we cannot recommend it enough. The cottage was spacious enough for my husband, my 2 boys and myself... my parents came to stay too and there was loads of room! The walled garden is the area my 10 year old loves most in the world... The owner kindly gave us a pass to park at the garden. The cottage is well equipped and cosy. The owners are very accommodating.
We will definitely return!
Thanks for a fab holiday.
Cosy and comfortable home from home for touring the area
A lovely place to stay within easy reach of all the beautiful beaches and fishing harbours from Dundee to Aberdeen. Lovely walks in the estate, woods, deer and pheasants, ancient trees and the enigmatic walled garden. A special treat was access to the estate's historic art and artefacts including a Pictish Stone on display in the grand old house. The cottage is very pleasant, comfortable furnishings and a sunny kitchen with all one needs, and very peaceful.
We all really enjoyed our stay, the West Lodge had everything we needed to just unpack and get settled in. The area was perfect for us as we could walk to the walled garden in just over 20 minutes and a beautiful beach was a short drive away. We had a lovely time and although it rained a couple of days the cottage had everything for a rainy day inside. The garden is a beautiful feature too, great for just sitting and listening to the birds and watching the wildlife.
We would return again but perhaps next time with just us grown ups to enjoy a peaceful break. Although we didn’t bring our dogs this time, we can see the appeal as the beaches are long and quiet, perfect for them to run on and West Lodge has plenty of walks to tire them out!
A lovely comfortable cottage with everything you could need.
we stayed at the end of October when the weather was very cold but the cottage was lovely and warm and cosy. It was nice to see the birds feeding in the garden.
We walked through the woods surrounding the cottage to the walled garden a long walk but really lovely with pheasants running around. We played table tennis in the walled garden not ready for the Olympics yet though. A drive to Glamis Castle is well worth the visit. We had a lovely day there going round the castle and grounds.
We would definitely stay in West Lodge again.

Homely cottage
We enjoyed our holidays in this homely cottage, nice und helpful contact with the owner. Lots of attractions around Arbroath, many good notes what to do and to see in an informative booklet in West Lodge. We would recommend this property exspecially to families with kids.

Quiet cottage within everything you could need.
Great location to stay. The cottage had everything you could need. The little cycle path to the garden was lovely. We visited Arbroath, Luna bay and Montrose from here. The cottage was reasonably priced. Will visit again.

What a lovely cottage. Very nice.
First sight looked good, a wee quaint cottage, not far from town yet on its own in the countryside and perfectly private.
This is the ideal recluse. Nobody to bother you and all your own space, and lots of space, both indoors and outdoors. Yet, within a short time, you can drive to lots of different towns and some excellent beaches. There are good walks too from your doorstep, including the estate and grounds.
Best of all is just the peace and quiet in your own home-from-home in what seems to be the middle of no-where.
The cottage looks deceptively small from the outside but is actually like a mini tardis once you enter the door. It has everything you may need from spoons to wi-fi (although the spoons are a bit better than the wi-fi - remember it is the countryside).
if you are single or a couple or a have a couple of kids or guests or want to bring your dog you will be happy here.
Don't get me wrong, this is not a 5 star hotel but any faults are normal for a family home.
So, if you are looking for good quality accommodation with all you need for a stress free, relaxing, self-catering holiday then this, in my opinion, is perfect. I heartily recommend this and would be happy to return.

A beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings.
We absolutely loved our stay at The West Lodge. On our arrival it was lovely to find all we needed for a hot beverage and our son loved the cookies. The cottage itself is very well equipped and was in the perfect location to explore the surrounding area. Thanks to the guide books in the cottage we explored Lunan Bay in it's glory, finding quartz veins running through the inside of the caves. The views are truly breathtaking. We enjoyed hiking in The Cairngorm's with our dogs. There was so much to see and do we long to return in the future.
It was great to feel welcome having two dogs. Having a fully enclosed garden was fantastic. There are fabulous walks to be had on The Kinblethmont Estate where we saw wildlife including deer. Outside our kitchen cottage window we watched the birds on the feeders.
Our final 'supper at the West Lodge was spent in the garden having a lovely BBQ. When it was time to go home we felt rested and replenished. We cannot recommend this cottage enough. Excellent communication from the owners/staff. Many thanks for such an enjoyable stay. We will return in the future!

Komfortables Cottage in ruhiger Lage

Holiday in Scotland
We have spent a wonderful 10 days in the West Lodge Cottage in late July and in early August. The cottage offers all you need, quiet location, surrounded by greenery, close to town and excellent base for exploring the countryside. I am sure we will return. Best regards, Ivanka

Peace & Quiet only 10 mins. from town.
Lovely cosy, comfortable cottage on main road (not busy) and on the edge of a lovely estate where one was allowed, even invited, to take advantage of the opportunity to wander thru' the estate. The cottage itself was as listed, with all needs provided for, even the bottle opener was not forgotten. Good bathroom with roomy shower. Fine kitchen with room to sit there and it looks out onto a large lawn with woods behind. Large garden is ideal for young children and toddlers. Fruit trees and bushes also (Brambles hmmm!)
I could go on, but suffice to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be returning a.s.a.p.

Wonderful two weeks, nothing to miss
We spent two weeks in the West Lodge cottage and enjoyed every single moment. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and the surrounding area invites for nice walks. The weather was nice enough even for outside evening dinners although we didn't use the BBQ provided. The Arbroath Smokies had been ready to eat coming from the shop. The West Lodge was a perfect "base camp" for us doing Geocaching
Jessica and Robert are very friendly and helpful if any kind of question comes up.
We would 100% recommend to other people to stay in the West Lodge. Try it!

Sweet little hide-away, perfect for golf (600m)
We were a group of 7 persons and were very happy and satisfied with Kinblethmont house. The rooms are perfect and nearly new with a great living room and a perfect kitchen with everything in it. A big barbecue grill (gas) is also provided.
The house is very clean and quiet, ideal for a relaxing holiday.
We hope that we can return next year again.

West Lodge
We had a very enjoyable stay at West Lodge. It is fitted and furnished to a high standard and had a homely feel. The welcome pack was much appreciated.
The information booklet supplied after booking was very comprehensive and helpful.
I would recommend West Lodge to couples and families who require first class accommodation which is ideally situated for a visit to the north east of Scotland.
Thank you Jessica
