You’re close to the neighbouring towns of Anstruther (9 minute drive), Pittenweem (12 minute drive), St Andrews (16 minute drive), St Monans (17 minute drive) and Elie (21 minute drive).

Crail is also a golfer's paradise, with its close proximity to world-renowned golf courses. Tee off at the prestigious Crail Golfing Society, one of the oldest golf clubs in the world, or explore a range of nearby courses such as The Old Course in St Andrews, Kingsbarn Golf Links, The Fairmont Golf Links, Lundin Golf Club, Scotscraig Golf Club and Elie Golf House Club, that cater to all skill levels. These golf courses include several having Tour Championship status and historic connections mainly within 5-20 minutes drive: or why not travel in style choosing one of the many luxury tour operators in the area.

Visit the historic Crail Harbour and witness the bustling activity of local fishermen bringing in their daily catch, including lobster. Feel the sense of maritime heritage as you explore the harborside, capturing the essence of a traditional Scottish fishing village. The Isle of May National Nature Reserve can be accessed by of one of several boat trips departing from Anstruther regularly and has a helipad for the more adventurous. For the brave of heart, the beach adjacent to the Crail harbour area, only a short walk from Westland Shores and surrounding shoreline are excellent for a cold water dip or sea swimming. Experience one of the three restored tidal pools a short drive away in Cellardyke, Pittenweem and St Monans (which are generally not dependent on tide times) offering an alternative for families looking to swim in the sea or for groups seeking a cold water emersion experience (you can even join the sea swimming community for a dip - ask for details).

Sample the delicious local cuisine in the charming restaurants and traditional pubs dotted throughout the Neuk. Indulge in fresh seafood delicacies, including mouthwatering fish and chips, or savour traditional Scottish dishes bursting with flavour. We recommend The Beehive for coffee and cake, visit Crail Fish Bar for a proper fish supper, and the newest restaurant in town The Shoregate offering excellent food and refreshments through the day. There are several others including the Balcomie Links Hotel and other tea rooms, or for a fine dining experience book The Cellar in nearby town Anstruther. Check the calendar for The Bowhouse Market in St Monans for the finest fresh local produce you can buy, whilst sampling some delightful organic wine or beer at Futtle. Of course, how can we forget the butchers and bakers (incl award winning bread) in Crail town centre, JP Penman and GH Barnett respectively. Local convenience stores are handy in Crail with the local Crail Co-op (a larger one in nearby Anstruther), Dan's Goods and Crail Pharmacy, all your needs are catered for.

Lovely house in a great spot
Really lovely home, really clever layout, and very comfortable. It had everything we needed for a relaxed stay, partly staying in and cooking, and also a great base for going out. The coastal path is right on the door step, and it’s only a few minutes walk to pubs, shops and restaurants on the main street. Would definitely book again
