Awesome Cottage, Views, Waterfalls, Cute animals, streams, privacy, easy access

Welcome to Wicklow Woods! We have designed our large 10 acre+ property for families and groups looking to stay in extremely clean and tastefully appointed lodging. There are steams, ponds, waterfalls, distant views of the mountains without ever leaving Wicklow.

If your dream is escaping to the North Carolina Mountains, we are nestled in a quiet cove surrounded by beautiful mountains, minutes from downtown Andrews, NC. While staying with us in Wicklow Woods, you will find peace and serenity that can only be found in the Mountains of the Carolinas. We are just minutes away from Andrews, NC where you can enjoy mountain biking, golf, fly fishing, horseback riding, scenic drives & walks, shopping. White water rafting adventures on the nearby Ocoee or Nantahala rivers are not far away. Our close proximity to many of major attractions, such as the Cherokee Nation Reservation and the Great Smokey Mountain National Park makes our location desirable for families looking to pack their week-long vacation full of activities.

Wicklow is an Andrews, North Carolina getaway with the privacy of cabin lodging. The decoration is somewhat shabby chic and upscale cabin lodging. We often get comments about the high quality of the furnishings, bedding and linens. People feel immediately comfortable! (Please see the feedback and comments from past guests.) You will find a mini library and plenty of games to entertain yourself or the kids! We recently enlarged the stocked fishing pond, added a new horseshoe pit as well as a 10ft high waterfall that empties into a wading pool with sandy beach. Visit with our miniature donkeys that reside in our pasture.

The lodge has a spacious feel with 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and 2 family rooms featuring large flat panel cable TV with DVD. Sunshine fills the upstairs living area by day, and the large stone fire pit and Adirondack chairs afford cozy nights by the fire. The fully equipped kitchen features oven, stove, refrigerator, large microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffeemaker and additional small appliances. The antique farmhouse dining table with handmade bench and Windsor style chairs can seat up to eight. You have everything you need to prepare a homemade family feast.

Quiet country cottage
My family and I stayed at Wicklow Woods for a long weekend. It was perfect and we loved the country setting. The grandkids had a great time feeding the donkeys and running around in the field. We stayed here last year and the bedding and decor had been updated. Wonderful place to stay.

Gorgeous property
Loved our stay at Wicklow Woods and will be returning next year. Grandchildren had a wonderful time playing in the creek and wading pool, feeding the donkeys and having s’mores around the fire. The house was perfect for the 9 of us. Highly recommend.

Happiness is in the eye of the beholder
My grand kids loved the property and all the things they could do. Two of them get hornet bites, one in the eye while petting donkeys. That ended that adventure. The lower floor of the house was horribly damp. There were many spiders and other bugs in the house. My granddaughter wouldnt slee. If my kids go back again, good for i won't p inher assigned room because of spiders on the wall and in corner of closet. The kitchen had little black ants all over. Direct tv is not my favorite and phone reception was spotty. Its a very long way from town, if you like that good.

Not good
My family and I were so upset when we arrived at this property. The mold/mildew smell was unbearable. The place was also dirty. We had to cancel our vacation plans and go home. It is not nice to rent this place out to people.

Recommend Highly!
This property is absolutely fantastic for a family or group. From the grounds which were just stunning (creek’s, small water falls, feeding the donkeys, fishing pond..), it was perfect for our family! The kitchen is stocked with essential gadgets, silverware, pots, etc. which was helpful. Comfortable beds. We truly enjoyed our week stay. But… I will say there are some issues that need to be addressed. BLACK ANTS. They were all over the kitchen. If you leave ANYTHING on the counters, it will be invaded by ants. We had to throw some things away due forgetting to put it away or not putting it in a sealed container. Be warned. Leave nothing on the counters. There was a board on the deck/patio we noticed that had a hole in it. After walking on this deck while we were there, a huge hole appeared. Dangerous if it’s not fixed soon. The downstairs toilet moved every time it was used. There was an odor of mold, musty smell in one bedroom downstairs & one upstairs. Not sure where that was coming from. If there is a large group (which we were), more kitchen towels should be available. We had 4 teenagers with us. The Wi-Fi/internet was horrible. They were not happy. Very spotty or non existent. It worked better outside than inside. The good thing.. no Wi-Fi made them go outside and enjoy their wonderful outdoor things Wicklow had to offer. Wicklow is a great choice to family’s wanting a big enough place to be comfortable, plenty of amenities.

A wonderful property to relax and get away from it all. Owners were friendly and accommodating. The driveway could be a handful if traveling by motorcycle, but definitely manageable. Brings carrots for the donkeys.

Beautiful Country Hideaway
Property is lovely with a creek running through it. House was spacious and worked well for us. Upon arriving we found there was an invasion of ants but the owners, Robin and April, responded immediately. There are a/c units both upstairs and downstairs but not in the bedrooms. I kept the doors opened to the bedrooms during the day to keep the rooms cool, so it wasn't a problem. My grandkids loved the friendly mini donkeys and playing in the stream and the adults enjoyed horseshoes, while I enjoyed walking the property trying to identify various trees and reading by the stream. My husband had to work quite a bit and found the internet connection sufficient (that was a must for him). We would definitely consider returning! We took a day trip to the Smokey Mountains don't miss Mingus Mill or the Mountain Farm Museum if you head that way. We loved 2nd Story Entertainment Mini Golf in Blue Ridge and the Cuban food at Rum Cake Lady also in Blue Ridge. We had a wonderful afternoon exploring at Leatherwood Falls about 35 minutes away (no crowds and the trails were filled with interesting things for the kids to explore) We ended our stay with an all day rafting trip down the Ocoee River!

Clean with lots of uninvited guests
I don’t know how else to describe this property. The grounds are amazing, the linens clean, the counters spotless, and there are bugs - specifically spiders in nearly every corner of the house. Luckily my two little boys turned it into a game while Dad and I were less thrilled with their kill counts it was kind of “ok”. However, we left some hotdog buns, in a bag, and a bottle of kids Tylenol on a counter for a day and came back after visiting family to ants all over the counter, all over the bag, all over the Tylenol, and more spiders that moved in to areas previously inhabited by those we massacred. I messaged the owner to let them know, but after traveling to Andrew’s for literally my entire 40 years of existence (family is all from that area) I know mountains attract bugs, but the level of spiders in this home is indicative of a larger problem and ants can be combated. The donkeys, the goats, the mini horse, and the fishing - all outdoor activities were fantastic. It is absolutely gorgeous property and it is so disappointing that the detail of dusting or getting in the corners of the house was left undone. The location is superb as my grandparents owned a home just down the road and my father grew up in that area. We love this area and exploring new options for visiting our remaining family in the area, but this will not be a return location. We left a day early because it was just too much and with Covid being what it is we were not interested in trying to work something out that should have been addressed prior to our stay. I messaged through VRBO before we left for our vacation and asked about a coffee pot vs a keurig and never heard back. In addition I messaged when we left early and have not heard back. The property is gorgeous, truly and oasis but our uninvited roommates ruined the trip.

Amazing place in a great location
We had a great time! The property is 5 minutes by car from the regional airport, so it's ideal if you fly yourself or take a charter from one of the bigger airports around. The farm is amazing for kids. Our 5 year old learned how to fish for trout and use a stand-up paddle board all in the same week. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evening and the amazing night sky. Lot's of activities around. Scenic drives, hikes in the forests, white water rafting, time on the lakes, etc. The house has 4 bedrooms and easily sleeps 8 people. We only used the upstairs section with its two bedrooms for.our family. A decent grocery store is in the town nearby and there is also a walmart super center 20 minutes away for everything else. The owners have created a nice little booklet with tips for local activities, restaurants, etc. Great stay overall and we look forward to coming back for another visit some time.

This cottage was absolutely fantastic. The property was gorgeous - with ponds, a storybook stream running through, ducks, goats, donkeys, a pony and a fire ring stocked with firewood - perfect for S'mores or a glass of wine under the stars. The property owners were very kind and accommodating. My whole family had such a great time.

This home was perfect for two families. The house was well stocked, the property was quiet and our kids loved spending time on tad pole beach with the ducks. The owners were also willing to accommodate our dog at the last minute which was so helpful! We would absolutely stay here again if we plan another trip to andrews.

Remote Hide Away with Great Internet
Enjoyed our stay in this remote (off a 1 lane road) farm. Beautiful deck with loads of space. Great location for families wishing to reconnect (with internet for the teenagers). My eldest college-aged child needed great internet to complete her summer school work and we were not disappointed with anything around internet connectivity. Cell coverage is very spotty and depends upon your carrier. My other college-aged daughter loved the goats, donkeys, and pony. The owners' dogs (dachshunds) were also welcoming and quite cute. The cottage/home is located on a small farm with multiple houses. The main house is occupied by the owners who left us to enjoy their property, the ponds, the spring-fed brook, and the lovely woods filled with ferns and wild rhododendrons. The studio (also on the property) was occupied by another family, but again we were left to enjoy ourselves and the owners' small farm. Kitchen is supplied with every available tool - loads of cooking equipment. Robin (the owner) provided coffee, small cereal boxes, and tea for the first morning which was much appreciated since we arrived at dusk and did not want to utilize the beautiful but narrow road late in the evening. We had plenty of supplies provided such as toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing soap, towels, laundry soap (possibly from the last guest), etc. Robin (the owner) was very welcoming and helpful in general. They provided a large amount of wood for bonfires with a beautiful fire ring. We enjoyed singing by the campfire and making smores. We had beautiful thunderstorms which knocked out the pump and left us without water one afternoon. We contacted Robins and the repair was completed in about 4-6 hours. Our only complaint was that the lower level bedrooms smelled a little musty. There was Febreeze in the laundry area which allowed us to freshen up the musty aroma. We would choose this home again, so no need to worry.

Wicklow
Beautiful property. Kids loved the waterfall, small beach area and pond. House was spacious and plenty of room for the 10 of us. That being said, the house needs major updates, repair and CLEANING. Zero curb appeal with the weeds and not much landscaping. All deck and fire pit furniture need a good power washing and some need a fresh coat of paint or just plain replaced. Old busted looking grill that we didn't use. Debris on deck. A playhouse the littles would have loved to use but needed a major power washing. Inside we found worn furniture, walls that need painted, musty/unidentified smell in lower level bathroom and bedrooms (I thought lower king room smelled like urine), a kitchen table that was forever sticky no matter how hard we tried to clean it. Major cobwebs in upper living area and a dust coated ceiling fan. Dirty floors (all tile and wood throughout). Old, loudwashing machine. We could not locate the advertised welcome book that was to detail the checkout procedure. Trash can outside with worn off instructions on where to take trash. Thankfully we ran into the owner and he advised us where we could take it. Driveway in and out is one way so be prepared to have to back up if you encounter someone coming your way. I had noticed before we booked the property that there were no reviews in 2018. I asked the property owner why and he stated they rented the entire property to a company for a year or so. Maybe all the wear and tear was in the last year??.Spending some time and money to update, repair and deep clean would make future reviews 5 stars again I am sure. We have rented several properties in this price range in prime season and sadly this one was in the worst shape.

Needs an overhaul
We have stayed at Wicklow Woods three times before, but this was the fourth and final time. The setting is great! The animals and nature are great! BUT... The house was dirty and unkept. There were spiders and roaches in the house, we killed several! The downstairs area was very musty and needed to be dried out with DampRid or something.. The downstairs bathroom needs to be cleaned badly...it wreaked of sour, musty odors. The bed cover/quilt on the downstairs king bed was stained with, what looked like, grease, in more than one area! The upstairs sofa and love seat are quite worn out and beaten down, and need to be replaced. The kitchen has one 9 inch skillet and nothing more to cook bacon, eggs, etc. in for more than 2 people. We were there four days and were given 4 coffee filters, a few drops of detergent, no paper towels or napkins, and no spices other than salt and pepper. The TV downstairs cuts off and back on about every minute, makes it a pain if you are watching something like a sporting event. The owners live on the property an d let their dogs run loose, so they become a nuisance to your own pets when you have them outside. And finally, the road to the house is good, until the last part into Wicklow. It needs some serious repair work and is one thunderstorm away from impassible!

Great place for a vacation, nice and peaceful.
Enjoyed talking with the owner , Mr. Robin and meeting him and his daughter Daisy. We enjoyed the visit from their pets (Teddy and Emma ). We also enjoyed feeding the farm animals. Our granddaughter and grandson enjoyed the visit from the 3 goats when they were playing at the water fall. It's a perfect place for the whole family. We stayed in the cottage which had a relaxing porch that my wife, Shirley enjoyed sitting on in the morning and afternoon. Thanks for a great week. We would recommend this place to others. Awesome!

Excellent place to just get away!!
The property is absolutely breathtaking. It's the perfect place for the whole family . It has two beautiful ponds with floats and paddle boards a kids play area horseshoe pit. We brought our out corn hole boards and had plenty of room and privacy. I fell in love with goats and donkeys and don't let me forget the little precious Emma (mini Shelty) that came for a visit. Had a great time rafting and enjoyed just coming back to the house and hanging out by the fire pit . We also got the pleasure of meeting Mr and Mrs Sargent (homeowners) they were the nicest people and they made sure we had we had everything we needed. It was such a wonderful family weekend we will b coming back for sure really soon.
