About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Waterfront home, steps to the beach in protected bay! Birding, kayaking, swim.

Bring the family for a staycation or work with high speed WiFi with a beautiful view. Peaceful. Tranquil. Breathtaking views await you at Similk Bay Beach House! An Easy 75 min. drive from Seattle (no ferry needed!) Located right on the water & just a few steps down to enjoy beach exploration or kayaking the bay (bring your own). Swinomish Golf Course is WALKING DISTANCE from the house. Deception Pass for hiking. Anacortes & LaConner mere minutes. Or tiptoe through the Skagit Valley tulips!

You and your guests can enjoy the entire cottage. If anyone has mobility issues, no worries as there are no stairs needed to enter the home and move about the living space; open kitchen to dining room (seats 8) and living room, plus private queen bedroom and semi-private bedroom with full bed and pull out twin and full bathroom round out the main kevel. You will need to maneuver stairs to enjoy the beach and upstairs private ensuite, but the view is breathtaking on the covered porch which requires NO STAIR USE. All hardwoods throughout.

Bedroom layout: Main level has a private queen bedroom and off the back of the house is a full bed and rollout twin bed (under full bed) room that is semi private with a privacy curtain. You enter this back room to access the stairs to the private master ensuite. The upstairs suite is private with a barn style door. The back bedroom and master suite is excellent for families with children or another couple.

Wonderful beach feel cottage. You'll be wishing you had more time to sit back and relax, to take in the sounds of the lapping water or sitting back to watch the heron, eagles, osprey, migratory winter birds, seagulls, seals and other wildlife that call this bay home.

Amazing family getaway
Wanted to get away someplace close that felt far away. Found this gem on the bay with amazing views. House is as described with plenty of room for four adults. Kitchen is well appointed, and the living area is very open and comfortable. View from both decks were amazing and right on the beach! Definitely bring your kayaks!

The place is remote and reminded me of a place a writer would love because it’s so serene and quiet. The view is spectacular! Great communication with the host who gave great instructions. Great for a family gathering.

Beware of Unjustified Charges and Frustration: A Disappointing VRBO Experience
I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at a VRBO house for two nights, and I feel compelled to share my negative review. Our stay began on a promising note, with us being quiet, respectful guests who adhered to all of the cleaning requirements outlined by the host. However, what followed has left me extremely frustrated and disappointed. The crux of the issue revolves around the host's unwarranted attempt to charge us an additional $720 after our stay. The reason? They claimed that we had two additional guests staying with us who were coming and going all weekend. This assertion is not only baseless but completely false. We had my in-laws over for a coffee during our stay, which lasted less than two hours. They certainly did not stay overnight or occupy any bedrooms. The host's blatant attempt to charge us for non-existent guests feels like nothing short of an attempt to take advantage of us financially. It's disheartening to think that a host would resort to such tactics to squeeze more money out of their guests. As a result of this unjustified charge, I am now forced to dispute the charges with VRBO, which is adding unnecessary stress and consuming valuable time. This entire experience has been nothing but a headache, and I would strongly advise anyone considering staying at this property to think twice and explore other options. Save yourself the trouble and frustration – do not stay here!

WONDER stay on the water.
We brought our kids to Whidbey Island to show them the area we used to live. We went to Anacortes for a whale watching trip and watched F-18’s in the pattern over Whidbey Island NAS. The stay was so relaxing. Thanks for letting us enjoy your special place.

Re-exploring Skagit County
A peaceful, beautiful, property to use as a base for exploration of tulip fields, Deception Pass, San Juan islands. Our small family enjoyed every moment at this wonderful rental. We are originally from Skagit County and what a perfect spring visit from our home in Montana. We will definitely return.

Spring break in the San Juan islands.
Family get away for first timers to the NW US. Anacortes is a perfect location for access to the San Juan's and whales and stunning nature hikes. This was a lovely cottage set directly on the bay with privacy, nature and beauty just out the window. The icing on the cake would be kyack out the back porch.

Excellent Getaway for Six Childhood Girlfriends
Beautiful drive, location and view. Perfectly situated for island hopping and shopping (especially easy to walk on to the ferry, but watch the schedules!). Lots of great restaurants in La Conner, Anacortes and islands. Beach house was perfect for lounging around and enjoying the view from kitchen/dining/great room. Bedroom/beds are probably ideal for two couples and 3-4 kids, but we made it work. Thank you for sharing your home!

Beautiful water view home
We had a lovely stay at this home with my daughter and her husband. The house has a fantastic view of the bay and lots of comfy places to enjoy that view: the cozy living room with a fireplace and comfy couch, the porch with table and chairs for outdoor dining and a handy lounge area, and the amazing lower deck. The kitchen is perfectly equipped. The Master is large and so is the master bath. The first floor bedrooms are smaller with a shared bath. The entire place was immaculate and very homey with good quality furnishings. It felt like a home, not a sterile rental house. The host gave perfect instructions and was super in every way! Would absolutely stay here again over other homes we have rented in the area.

What a view
Driving up to the house I was apprehensive because the house is in a regular looking neighborhood. But once you walk through the gate, you are definitely on the water. The house is nicely decorated with the back of the house all windows overlooking the water. My favorite place was the downstairs deck. There is no ac and I was apprehensive about “mother nature’s ac@ but the evenings were cool and the house was great.

Two Family Stay
The location and views were great! We loved the master bedroom and bath. The house was a little small for 7 people. The adults staying in the guest room found it too warm, probably due to not enough windows to let the cool night air in. Also, we would have appreciated access to the washer and dryer. Some feedback on the cleaning crew: the dishwasher had not been unloaded when we arrived, there was no trash bag in the trash can under the sink, the shower curtain upstairs had mold at the bottom. These are minor complaints. Overall the house was lovely and decorated very nicely with a well equipped kitchen. We loved the peace and quiet and the views!

Snowy beach getaway
Our family of five adults enjoyed the snowy views from this very comfortable property for two nights after Christmas. It was still very cold outside, but the beachhouse was warm, plus the gas fire added warmth and cozy atmosphere as well. We loved the great room with plenty of couch space for all of us, and a big table for our meals and game playing, and wonderful views!! And we all slept well in very comfortable beds. We never went for a walk on the beach because of the snow, but visited our favorite Skagit park - Kukutali Preserve - which we could see straight ahead from the house and only a ten minute drive away, the perfect place in any season for a walk, beach time and a picnic too. We can see, though, how popular this home would be for summer time. It was easy to get to from the highway and close to so many other scenic spots.

Disappointing
Safety issue with Carbon Monoxide detectors going off while oven was on for only 15 minutes! Very heavy gas fumes coming from stove - could not use. Had to vacate property for a good hour. Also, coffee maker was broken, could not make coffee. Images on property description not accurate: there was no firepit for us to make a beach bonfire and no outdoor games per photo, Also, there was no instruction on how to turn on the outdoor lights on deck.

Great property, well appointed and convenient. It is 10-20 mins from all the local attractions and a great place to use as a base. There were 5 of us and everyone had their own space. The kitchen/living room/ dining room is an inviting open gathering space and the kitchen well equipped. The skylights and wood details throughout the property are charming. The view is as lovely as the pictures show! We only wish it had been a bit warmer and no burn ban in place so we could have enjoyed the beach more. Thank you for a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Relaxing getaway
My family and I spent a long weekend here and we had a great time. Laurie was a sweet host and communicated promptly. The view is stunning and you will want to spend the entire weekend just hanging out on the deck. The kitchen is well stocked if you're a family that likes to cook. The neighborhood is quiet, but the house is about 10ish minutes from town. We went to the local market and took the kids to John Storvik playground. If you go during the summer, there will most likely be a fire ban so you won't be able to use the fire pit. Also, be aware that the cornhole pictured in photo 50 is not made available to guests.
