A great place for students or people on a budget. The staff are really friendly. The location is great - things are never really more than a 20 min walk or 10 min tram ride away. However, being right in the centre means there was a lot of noise so might not be ideal for light sleepers. The stairs to the rooms are pretty narrow and steep which could be problematic for anyone with knee problems or if your'e really stoned :)

Top floor room so shoebox in the sky lol but honestly didn’t mind it,definitely overpriced for the standard of room etc but you’re paying for the location,smack bang in the middle which is what I wanted. Only needed a bed to get the head down. I would only recommend staying here if you have been to Amsterdam before,have to say the receptionists were very helpful especially the female one I didn’t catch her name,really lovely lady

I was scared by the reviews regarding the rooms and cleanliness in general, after 4 nights I can say that the Mallemoolen hotel is an excellent hotel for those who don't have many expectations and want to visit Amsterdam without being a slave to public transport. My room was located on the third floor without a lift and with steps at the limit of climbing (I am an athletic and young guy so personally I had no problems) 6 square meters with face-height beams in the center of the room, very uncomfortable as I struggled to move freely. shared bathroom/shower which was always clean, the only flaw was that the light in the shower didn't work. The hotel staff are very friendly and make you feel at home straight away. Would I go back? Yes but the price is too high for what is given in exchange.

As a group of backpackers it was an amazing location and just what we needed. The room was a bit small but as described, enough shared facilities which made it feel like they were your own. Kind and helpful reception who are available to let you in round the clock even after a night out! This was perfect for a 3 night stay with the included breakfast being a lifesaver. You get what you pay for and more!

The stairs are too narrow. Its good to stay here if you are a backpackers or just carry hand luggage. Overall, I still l enjoyed my stay here, it is very central and safe.

Terrible room with extremely narrow and scary stairs (less than 18 wide and only 4 inch step). No elevator, terrible washroom with no shower curtain. And on top, Hotels.com charged double the price compared to what hotel was charging directly.
