Cozy and romantic apartment in captain's steering cabin

This newly refurbished apartment is in the captain's quarters Ämsterdam Houthavens "of the freighter. It is a cozy, romantic and comfortable. The lounge in the captain's steering cabin above deck offers a beautifull 360 view of the old Amsterdam Houthavens (lumber harbor), the IJ (the main water way to the harbor) and the city. Below deck there is a seperate sleeping area; a dining / living area with a small, but fully equipped, kitchenette; and bathroom with shower and toilet.
All amenities are brand-new. There is an internet connection. The apartment has its own entrance It has a sense of spaciousness and there is a sea of tranquility. A great place to relax and watch ships of all sizes and swans come by while the boat gently rocks.

It was a perfect location and Dana was a joy to meet and beyond kind to me and my partner. We had no trouble with sea sickness and everything was a 20 minute walk away. We loved the view, the location, and the boat itself and would stay again if given the chance.

An Incredible Stay on a Beautiful Boat
This house boat is what dreams are made of. Clean, cozy, and incredibly comfortable; I don't think I've ever slept so well. Dana is an absolute gem and incredibly helpful. Would absolutely stay here again!

Great time on the Dana
My husband and I stayed for several days and it was a perfect adventure. We wanted something other than another hotel stay and we got it! Very cozy, well appointed, and a great location. Between the ferries (5 min walk) and the train station (20 min walk), we had everything we needed to get around. Host was incredibly helpful in sharing information. Would absolutely stay again.

Wonderful Weekend in Amsterdam
We had the pleasure of staying at Houseboat Dana for a long weekend. Not only was it cosy, clean and comfortable, but the location was also close to tram/ ferry stops. Dana was the most generous and helpful host we’ve ever had. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a romantic weekend in Amsterdam.

We stayed here to visit Amsterdam for 2.5 days & we could not have been more pleased! the location was incredible, very different than normal hotels - which made it even better! The owner was the best part; she was so helpful, pleasant & I wish I could have stayed longer just to hang out with her! Very fun experience on the houseboat we loved the perch up top for sipping wine and chatting/napping under the sun/rainy sky one day it was so very relaxing. The free ferry is a quick walk away to get into central Amsterdam.

This was a very fun and special stay on a houseboat!
The owner of the boat made this experience exceptional. The boat is very clean, well equipped and pleasant to stay on. I was worried about it being heated- it was warm! Plenty of hot water in the shower as well. I enjoyed sleeping in wheelhouse- it poured rain one night and I loved hearing that. My husband preferred the sleeping quarters below as it was more quiet . We really enjoyed meeting Dana- she’s charming!!!

Perfect! Just book it!
My daughter and I had the best time. The houseboat is super cozy and so beautiful. We had a bit of a bad luck with the weather but staying on the houseboat made it so much more fun as you could stay up in the captains quarters and enjoy a beautiful view instead of being stuck in a hotel room. My daughter got bad cold and Dana was so helpful providing us with medicine, honey, herbs and tea. The bed was very comfortable and everything was super clean. The location was great as you are not in the midst of everything but still only a couple of bus stops away from the hustle and bustle. We slept so well since the bed was very comfortable and there was literally no noise from outside as there is no street going by. The kitchen and fridge are awesome as you don’t have to spent tons of money eating out but if you feel like it there are some good options in walking distance like a Thai place or a Turkish place and a great grocery store as well. I would definelty book another stay here! 100%!!!

Griet's ship is wonderful located, on the verge of the centrum. So you can reach the city quite easy and simple by foot. Simultaneously it's possible to enjoy the loneliness, silence and relaxation at the ship and it's environment. The apartment is - in respect of the exceptional offer of such a ship, this reconsidering - complete suitable. The landlady also live in this ship. She is very nice, adjuvant and regardful, she's a really open, pleasant communicative and tolerant, liberal person. Thank you, Griet, that we could have been your guest. Always a pleasure!

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt auf dem Hausboot! Das Ambiente war einfach einzigartig und die ruhige Lage hat perfekt zur Entspannung beigetragen. Sehr schön. Die Lage und der Ausblick war unglaublich schön. Als letztes Boot am Steg eine super Aussicht auf die Lichter des Hafens bei Nacht zu genießen war sehr romantisch und etwas ganz besonderes. Sehr nette Gastgeberin und perfektes Wetter.

Great experience on a Boathouse!
Dana’s boathouse is perfectly situated, close to Amsterdam Central Station and the city centre. Well equipped, if you want to eat small meals on the boat and enjoy the wonderful view of the canal. Dana is a very nice person and available for your questions and needs. I recommend!

Wir haben unser verlängertes Wochenende in dem Hausboot von Dana verbracht. Es war einfach nur wunderschön. Die Lage des Bootes ist unbeschreiblich. Abends konnte man riesige Kreuzfahrtschiffe beim Auslaufen beobachten. Die Gastgeberin Dana ist sehr sehr nett und hilfbereit. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gern wieder. Anreise vom Hauptbahnhof mit der Fähre ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Traumhafter Urlaub auf dem Wasser in Amsterdam
Ich habe die Reise meinem Sohn und seiner Lebensgefährtin geschenkt und es war eine ganz wunderbare Erfahrung. Die Vermieterin Dana ist sehr sympathisch, hat die beiden ganz herzlich begrüßt und ihnen viele Tipps gegeben. Das Boot ist sehr schön renoviert, alles sehr sauber und gepflegt und die Lage in Amsterdam ist hervorragend. Es war ein ganz großartiges Erlebnis und leider mit drei Übernachtungen viel zu kurz:-) wir kommen gerne wieder und dann etwas länger! Nochmals einen großen Dank an Dana!

Romantisches Wochenende auf dem Hausboot
Wer Luxus und Komfort sucht, der ist auf der Dana falsch. Wer aber mal ein paar schön romantische Tage auf einem Hausboot verbringen möchte, zu dem passt die Dana. Zu Fuss ein wenig weit in die Innenstadt, je nachdem wohin geht man schon 45 Minuten (eine tour), mit den Rädern aber ein Klacks. Die Eignerin lebt im vorderen Teil des Bootes, sehr Nett und Hilfsbreit. Genossen haben wir die super Aussicht in der Steuerkabine, sehr gemütlich und wunderschön. Man kann mit dem Auto an den Steg fahren (der erste wenn man vom Bahnhof kommt) Dana liegt ganz am Ende des Steges, mit "unverbauter Aussicht". Zum Parken kann ich das I-Dock empfehlen, vorher online buchen, ist viel günstiger, ca. 5 Minuten vom Boot entfernt. Wir würden Dana wieder buchen, wenn wir wieder mal in Amsterdam sind.

Vermieterin des Hausbootes war sehr freundlich & hilfsbereit. Das Hausboot war klein, aber fein und die Lage war perfekt (10 mins Fußweg bis ins Zentrum)
