The Space:
Enjoy the calm and serenity of our three-bedroom lakeside home along the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. Located in a picturesque neighborhood in Alton, Bear Lodge provides you with the tranquil breezes of the lake. With private beach and PWC launch access, Bear Lodge is the ideal vacation retreat.
Bear Lodge is the ideal location for family and friends to gather and make memories. The main floor has an open concept living space with a large island that seats six, a dining table that also seats six (ability to expand to eight) and a large sectional. Also located on the main floor are two bedrooms each with queen size beds. One bedroom offers a dedicated office space. There is a large full-sized bathroom located on the main floor along with laundry for your convenience.
Upstairs you will find an open loft space with an option for bunk or twin bed sleeping. There is also a full bathroom and a private bedroom with an additional bunk (full mattress on bottom and twin on top).
Enjoy New Hampshire evenings on the large porch or roasting marshmallows in the provided fire pit. Play some corn-hole, Yardzee, or set up the volleyball net- all amenities included in your home. End the night with a brisk walk around “the point”.
Bear Lodge provides its guests with access to the Smith Point private beach accessed via Peters Path. The beach offers easy access to Lake Winnipesaukee with its sandy shore. Fill up the beach buggy with beach chairs and cool off from the warm summer days. You also have access to launch your personal watercraft around the corner from the home.
We would like guests planning to stay at Bear Lodge to be aware that there are approximately 16 steps to access the main living space. Once you step into the main space enjoy the view of the tree tops from the triangle window from the loft area.

The Neighborhood:
Bear Lodge is centrally located to several Lake Winnipesaukee attractions and restaurants.
We are only 1.5 miles from the Ellacoya Barn and Grill. Or take a 10-minute drive to the bay of Alton and enjoy lunch or dinner on the water at Shibley’s. Drive the Winni loop and stop in at Canoe in Moultonborough or Town Docks in Meredith for lunch or dinner. Along the way don’t forget to stop in at the Moultonborough Country Store.
Like to hike? We are only 5 minutes away from the Mount Major Hiking Trail and Locke Hiking Trail.
In the winter, enjoy all that Alton Bay offers with skiing at nearby Gunstock Mountain! It's only 6 miles away! Ice fishing is also popular in town and you can drive to see the planes landing on Alton Bay in the winter. It is picturesque in every season.
Other Things to Note:
Fire pit: Please note that per fire department regulations, the use of the fire pit requires a permit for each rental period. Guests must apply for a permit prior to using the fire pit to avoid potential liability for damages. Applications can be submitted online at burnsafeamerica
Grill: We ask our guests to clean the grill after use or before check out as a courtesy to the next guests otherwise, additional $35 fee will be charged for cleaning the grill. Thank you!
Please make sure to bring your own beach towels as we only provide bath towels.
Ice: Please note that we do not have an ice maker available on the premises, we kindly request that guests bring their own ice if needed.
Winter time: Given the harsh and unpredictable New England weather, we do not guarantee that deck will be cleared off during the winter time. We're hoping for your understanding!
