This deceptively spacious, semi-detached, old fisherman’s cottage is set just off the harbour in the centre of Craster. Dating back to 1890, it is tucked away, only a stone’s throw from the sea. It has a tiered garden which is detached from the property, about 30 yards away with views to the sea and harbour. The coastal path leads to Dunstanburgh Castle and onto the sandy beaches at Embleton. Brimming with character and sprinkled with family antiques, this holiday cottage provides a homely and welcoming base to explore this magnificent coastline and beyond. Craster is steeped in tradition and centred on the ‘picture-postcard’ harbour, where visitors should try the smoked Craster kippers from the smokery or the local pub. The coastline and inland is peppered with friendly villages and castles, where visitors will find they have to return to enjoy what is reputedly the most unpopulated and unspoilt county in England. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Cosy Craster Cottage
We had a fantastic week in Craster. The cottage was full of character, really well equipped and in a brilliant location. It was so nice to walk each morning along to the castle.

We have just returned from a fabulous stay in Rowan Cottage, a true home away from home. We wish we’d booked for two weeks. It had everything we could have wanted, including amazing wi-if - I can only assume its been upgraded since earlier reviews as with 4 young adults/teenage kids with us it really did get tested. Great location tucked away off the Main Street (with no passers by looking in the window), the cottage was bigger than it looked on the photos. And yes as reviews have said it does have a lot of personal items on walls etc but this adds to the homeliness and means we didn't feel afraid to relax and enjoy ourselves. Facilities were good, plenty of cutlery and crockery, a full size fridge freezer, TV with Netflix, loads of DVD’s, books and games for rainy days, it even had bowls, towels and throws for the dogs. Upstairs was just as good, 3 decent sized bedrooms, good central heating, nice sized bath for relaxing after a long day walking and a separate electric shower off the main bedroom. We’ll certainly be back!! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a lovely stay in Rowan Cottage.
We had a lovely stay in Rowan Cottage. Although it is not on the seafront it is very near, it also has the added bonus that visitors are not continually walking by. The cottage itself is comfortable and well equipped and felt very homely. We will certainly consider staying again in the future. Our dog settled in immediately so what better testimony could there be.

Have stayed there twice. Lovely cottage with lots of character, which feels very homely. Only criticism is that towels are rather thin and toilet seats tend to bite! However would definitely stay there again.
