"Spacious room, comfy bed, quiet area as in the middle of nowhere. We very much enjoyed breakfast, too. The not as good: -we couldn't get the jets on the bath to work -soap at the sink ran out after the first use, but there was plenty of one in the shower so we didn't bother asking for replacement -the TV has very long response time - you press the button on the remote and nothing happens for at least 15-20 seconds. Overall, very good value for money. "

"Really lovely property and great evening staff offering a really warm welcome. The morning staff didn't seem quite as enthusiastic but maybe that was just the time of day!? The facilities lose a star because the breakfast is not included and can be very expensive if you include a couple of coffees, orange juice, cereal and cooked breakfast. Great stay overall though."

"Super stay - high quality furnished room, and quiet late on, despite the vibrant atmosphere at the adjoining pub. Only thing I could perhaps find fault with would be the high tog rating for the duvet (which made for a rather warm night !)"

"The Red Lion was a lovely for me and my partner, we had an amazing stay. The staff at the pub were lovely, especially Aviva who was so friendly and helpful in the restaurant. I give four stars only because the price was a little unreasonable for the time of year (mid-November) when many local attractions are closed. Otherwise I could not recommend this place enough for a lovely weekend break. "

"Absolutely delightful. Breakfast is indeed exceptional, the room is very comfortable and has everything that we needed for a three-day weekend. Netflix an unexpected bonus after a good walk in the nice countryside on the doorstep. Dinner was also excellent plus the Bangladeshi restaurant in Swadlincote provided one of the best "Indian" dinners in a very long time. Location is quiet and safe and Becky and the Staff couldn't be more helpful or friendly."

"We arrived earlier than our check in time, but this wasn't a problem, we had immediate access to our room. The room was on the small side, but as we didn't have full size suitcases it didn't matter. The 5* award is for being able to sit outside on a sunny evening, with a pint just looking at the stunning view, priceless. Dinner was good but a bit 'chips with everything'.
