Casita Perdiz at Cortijo las Rosas - Peace & Tranquility in the Olive Groves

This is a large, airy beamed casita with a private courtyard.

Casita Perdiz (meaning Little Partridge House) has a large open plan living area. The seating area is furnished with Moorish style sofas. There is a log burner for cool winter evenings and satellite television.

There are two large windows, one looking out down the valley and the other from the kitchen area onto the courtyard. French doors lead out onto a private courtyard, whilst an open staircase leads to the airy master bedroom with lovely views. The second bedroom is downstairs off the private courtyard where there is also an outside porch for eating and barbecueing

There is a full sized electric oven/ hob plus a fridge with a freezer compartment - essential for cooling the local beer and wine! A good range of plates, pots, glasses etc. allow for home from home, relaxed food preparation. Basics (such as salt, pepper, oil, washing up liquid etc.) are provided as part of our service. There is a kitchen table to seat four for dining.

Outside there is a large private courtyard planted with jasmine and lavender, surrounded by traditional high white walls. You are not overlooked by the other casitas. There is outside seating for relaxing and a table for eating, with a porch providing shade on our hot Andaluz summer days. A barbecue allows you to make the most of outside living.

The communal patio and pool area is shared by a maximum of 10 guests and is set on the side of the hill facing fantastic views of the valley, hills and olive groves. There are tables and chairs provided for eating, or sitting with a cool drink and watching the sun set…… There are also cushioned loungers for sun worshippers! The pool is set on the edge of the patio and has a comfortable seating ledge in the water, giving you somewhere to sit and keep cool whilst you read or just gaze at the view…..
There is an outside shower room with toilet and basin so that you do not have to return to your casita once ensconced in the sunshine.

There is also a laundry room accessed from the pool patio area, with a washing machine, wash basin, iron and ironing board for communal use.

An hour and a half from the airports of Malaga and Granada, the secluded setting of Cortijo las Rosas, amidst tranquil olive groves, gives guests a chance to chill out and relax around the pool between days out visiting historic and cultural centres within easy reach: Antequera, Alcala la Real, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga, Ronda, Seville etc...

Taste the oil produced from the renowned olives of the Subbetica; enjoy the local wines from Montilla or the Anis produced in nearby Rute; barbecue the plentiful fish and seafood available or let us organise a takeaway from nearby Molino los Justos with its traditional “home cooking.” Our local town, Algarinejo, boasts the restaurant Casa Piolas which features in Jon Clarke’s “Dining Secrets of Andalucía” – their Menu de Degustación is an experience not to be missed!

Nearby Lake Iznajar offers a beach with pedalos and kayaks for hire with a beach bar on hand for cool drinks or eating. Walkers have the freedom to explore the countryside of the Subbetica right from their doorstep - or to walk amongst the extraordinary rock formations of El Torcal. El Chorro Gorge offers the adventurous a chance to experience the spectacular Camino del Rey or to trek around our local “mesa” overlooking the lake, and examine the archaeological dig carried out by the University of Granada – you might have to share the view with the goatherd and his goats...

Allow Cortijo las Rosas to help you unwind, enjoy an unspoilt Andalucía and guide you to its historic treasures.

Beautyfull Spring Break in Andalucia
We had a wonderful stay at Cortijo Las Rosas. Gillian and Marylynne keep this rural traditional Cortijo perfectly maintained and combine the traditional Architekturen with tasteful Interieur decoration and modern amenities. Gillian and Marylynne we're of caring politeness, never intruding. Communicaton went perfectly right from the start. The Cortijo is locatrd quiet, with wonderful Views from wach room, Clear night skies, singing birds in the morning, humming bees, scentting roses, tasty herbs. Even through the nearest Village Fuentes de Cesna can bei reached with E-Bike within 5 minutes for getting fresh bread and foods. The small towns in the surrounding are charming, alltough not that known. We enjoyed serious cycling, Tours to Granada, Cordoba, Antequera, Caminito del Rey and of course the Pool.

perfect spot and a slice of heaven
My husband and I stayed for three nights in the Casita Perdiz and it was a slice of heaven! Gillian and Marylynne were extremely helpful before hand with information and communication. Their directions were perfect to find the accommodation.Just follow their directions and you will not get lost. The pictures are accurate and the place really is even nicer than the photos. The apartment itself was beautifully done, large, well equipped, spotless and had everything you could want. The bed was very comfortable and the place was extremely quiet and restful. We went with the arrival food and wine package you can order from Gillian and would highly recommend it as it more than provides a great variety of food and beverages for you, so you don't have to worry on arrival. The scenery was beautiful and there are many locations you can visit lovely little Spanish towns within easy driving distance. Gillian was very helpful when we were there about places to visit or places to eat at. The renovation photos of the place that Gillian has are incredible and you can see the effort and pride that they have put in to the place We would go back to this property in a heartbeat, and would highly recommend it.

Paradise
This amazing place was perfrct with its traditional cottages and fabulous hosts, where nothing was to much trouble. A car is a must however the surrounding areas were perfect for exploring and the village was a short 20 min walk away. My mum who is in her 70's, and has difficulty walking, enjoyed every minute even though the tarrain was challenging for her and would visit this fabulous place in a heartbeat. This is a perfect retreat to get away from modern life, to collect yourself and breath............. We are looking forward to our return.

Aaaannnnnndddddd RELAX!!
My partner, Gareth, & I took my mother who was visiting us from NZ to spend a week relaxing in Andalucia with some exploration of the region thrown into the mix. Our week staying in the Cortijo was superb - the service from Gillian and Marylynne was excellent - always going that extra mile to make us welcome and ensure we had the most fabulous experience. The drive to get there is adventurous - and worth making the effort. The accommodation was beautiful, spacious, clean and well set out for the three of us to balance spending quality time together and having room to take our own time out. We enjoyed cooking in the well-supplied kitchen, eating in our private courtyard, playing in the pool either by ourselves or talking with the small number of other Cortijo guests and playing games together in our private living space. Given the temperatures of a late Spanish summer we were impressed with how cool it was inside our Cosita plus having the benefit of fans if required. We were able to completely switch off. At my request Gillian happily arranged for us to go to a mind-blowing restaurant 20 minutes drive away including a taxi to & from so we could all celebrate together, a local masseuse to come to the Cortijo so we could relax whilst being pampered, and on one evening a local dinner in the nearest village. We did 3 day trips - the first was to Seville (2.5 hours drive away), the second to Granada to explore the Alhambra (1.5 hours drive away) and the third to Ronda (2 hours drive away). We also went down to Iznajar (10-15 minutes drive along a winding road) to appreciate the beauty of the lake and village. We were thrilled with our time here and recommend staying here! Go, relax and definitely request to have an evening arranged for a degustation experience as we did!

A fantastic setting in the heart of Andalusia
A fantastic setting surrounded by olive trees with a magnificent view over the andalusian countryside. The accommodation has been wonderfully decorated with more than everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The owners have really gone out of their way to make you feel like you are in your own home.

Formidable !

Beautifully peaceful retreat!
What a beautiful spot! These three charming casitas really are a find! The location is quite remote but well worth the effort. Our casita was charming and superbly maintained. The welcome pack of food was brilliantly chosen and being able to sit by the pool with a chilled glass of wine plus crisps and snacks just after our arrival was much appreciated! We sadly only had two days here but very much hope to be back for longer one day!

Perfect Homebase for Andulucia
Beautifully kept, and presented Corjito las Rosas is a perfect place to explore the area. Ten days in the Perez Casita was wonderous. Very well supplied, access to communal fridge and freezer made it easy to plan for meals. I highly recommend the plentiful welcome package. It was nice to be able to split exporing days with rest days by the pool, enjoying the gardens and the view. We appreciated the knowledge that both Gillian & Marylynne shared and hints of where to go to explore. We highly recommend a stay here - thanks for the memories.

Lovely rural location
We loved our stay at Cortijo las Rosas. The casita was well equipped with really good extra touches, for instance local olives and olive oil, herb and spices. The owners made us feel very welcome and went out of the way to make our stay as special as possible. We were recommended a local restaurant for a gastronomic meal where we had a memorable evening. Marylynne even provided her own personal book for my bird watching husband. If you would like a holiday in a rural location with beautiful views and wonderful hosts, I would recommend you try this fabulous place to stay..

Idyllic, peaceful, comfortable place in the hills
This was our second visit to Las Rosas, and we hope it will not be our last. The property itself is lovely and the location is wonderful. We stayed in Casita Perdiz - the closest to the pool. It is well appointed, comfortable and stays cool in the heat (in as much as anywhere can in Andalucia). Being on a hilltop Las Rosas is never oppressively hot. The property and the grounds are kept in excellent shape by Gillian and Marylynne, as is the pool. We spent hours watching house martins swoop down to catch insects from the water! The terrace gets the sun all day, but also offers plenty of shade. In the evening and at night it is a delight - no sound but the cicadas, and brilliant stars. For me an added bonus is that Steve, one of the owners, is a keen cyclist and lent me a bike and led me on a couple of fabulous rides, including one round Lake Iznajar. Its not cycling for the inexperienced, being hilly and hot, but the scenery is beautiful, the roads are empty, the gradients are mostly reasonable (7-10%) and the coffee stops in the nearby villages are a treat. And Steve is excellent company on a ride! Iznajar, the nearest village, is striking, with its white buildings and obligatory hill-top church. There are some tremendous views from the village over the lake and good places to eat, particularly the tapas bar in the patio at the top of the village. There is a lot of good food to be had in the vicinity. Gillian and Marylynne are reliable sources of recommendations for places to eat, from local cheap and cheerful to Michelin standard cooking. And the house kitchens are well equipped should you, like us, enjoy cooking. The welcome pack is recommended The Cortijo is well sited for visiting Granada and Cordoba (both must-sees). Antequera is also well worth a visit. Having done that last year we pretty much stayed put (except for my rides and one trip to Cordoba) and chilled out. All in all Las Rosas has quickly become one of our favourite places. Thanks to Gillian, Marylynne and Steve for being excellent hosts. Hope to see you all again soon!

Cortijo Las Rosas, Casita Perdiz
Cortijo Las Rosas surpassed all expectations. If it's peace and tranquillity you require, then look no further. Gillian and Marylynne are absolutely lovely and the love they have for their beautiful Cortijo shows in even the smallest of details. Spotlessly clean, wonderful linen and gardens the create envy! So much thought has been put into making sure we had everything we needed and both ladies were on hand for any advice and information. Would very much like to return.

Peaceful casitas among the olive groves.
Deep in the Andalusian countryside among the olive groves, our casita met all expectations, the property was clean, well maintained, and the owners could not have been more helpful, thinking of everything one could need, in the kitchen, heating and a washing machine. Venturing to local towns and further afield to Cordoba and Granada with their excellent directions was very helpful. we would definitely recommend these casitas to friends and family.

Perfectly peaceful simple luxury
We unreservedly recommend Casita Perdiz at Cortijo las Rosas and wish we were still there. It feels a long way from anywhere, though is in fact 15 minute (uphill!) drive from Iznajar. On arrival we discovered a simple comfortable house, perfectly cool in the Andalusian heat. Stylishly decorated, comfortable beds and great bathrooms. The pool area is particularly lovely with a wonderful view across the valley. At night we sat out there and heard only silence. Both Gillian and Marylynne were welcoming and full of information on places to visit and to eat. Try Casa Piolas is in Algarinejo for Michelin starred quality food at around €50 per head or Tasca Patio De Las Comedias in Iznajar - great tapas. Also on a food theme, we highly recommend the welcome package on offer – high quality local ingredients which kept us going for a day and half. You should also take advantage of the massage and therapy service offered by Sarah Jackson – a treat after a day’s travelling.

A lovely place to relax and enjoy.
Cortijo las Rosas is a beautifully kept oasis amidst the olive tree covered hills. My husband, John, and I spent a week in April alternating trips to Cordoba, Priego de Cordoba and Ronda with days relaxing poolside. Gillian and Marylynne were very helpful with any queries we had. The accommodations were above average.....clean, comfortable with many extras not usually found in self-catering rentals. I would suggest getting the Welcome Pack as we were very happy to be able to stay put for a day after finding our way through the hills. I would recommend this accomodation to anyone who is seeking a quiet place in the countryside that is also convenient to the cities and towns of Andalucia.

Beautiful!!!
We stayed for one week in Casita Perdiz and we just loved it; actually everything; the house with a great atmosphere, nicely decorated and made with love; the well equipped kitchen; the fantastic 'welcomepack'; good showers, perfect beds; a beautiful patio with nice smelling flowers. The view is wonderful: a valley with olive trees and it was so nicely quiet: we could just hear the sounds of the birds! The pool is nice! And there are plenty of games and for example, a jeux de boules set. Gillian and Marylynne are really nice and helpful! Thank you again for a memorable week! We'd like to come back in the future! Casa Perdiz - A Perfect Rural Retreat
My wife, daughter and her best friend (both 16 years old) spent six fabulous days at Casa Perdiz during Spring Break this year. We arrived late the first day during a Spring shower and Gillian and MaryLynne were there to greet us holding much-needed umbrellas. This was just the first of many kindnesses afforded us by the sisters during our week there. Usually we would return from a long day of sight-seeing to find a fire started in our stove and our laundry folded. Gillian and MaryLynne provided excellent and practical information on which sights to see, how to get there, and where to park once you arrived. Our unit contained a large quantity of tourist information that was invaluable in prioritizing what we wanted to see. The property itself is a renovated farm house with several "casitas" added to the property. Casa Perdiz was a delight. It was quaint and yet functional. We fell in love with the place. The views from the terrace are breathtaking - acres of olive trees covering the hills - and the setting is perfect for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban life, but still be close to the major sights in Andalusia. We were able to take relatively easy day trips to Grenada and the Alhambra, Ronda and the Costa del Sol, and Cordoba. Seville dropped off of our schedule due to the fact we ran out of time with all the things to see and do - obviously a "next time" is in order! We also enjoyed hiking the trails around Cortijo and were awed by the beautiful views on top of the mountain. As is evident we highly recommend Cortijo. We had a memorable stay! We will be back!

Casita Perdiz
An ideal and picturesque location for outdoor pursuits like walking, bird watching or mountain bikes, yet equally well located for day trips to Granada, Cordoba, etc. Very well equipped with a beautiful pool, although the water was too cold for a swim in March. The Casita is fitted to a very high standard and is clean, comfortable and well managed. Gillian and Marylynne are extremely helpful and pleasant and cater for every need including providing detailed information and ideas for a wide range of activities and restaurants in the local area. Surrounded by olive groves the views are lovely and the birdsong and wildflowers in March were exceptional. We had a wonderful 2 weeks and would recommend it to anyone with similar outdoor interests.
