Pete & Penny (property owner/Vrbo listers) were wonderful & responsive: from its booking, to its check-in/arrival, to a couple needs once on site, to a “Safe travels/farewell!” upon checkout.
Cabin was adorable…& totally “Maine.”
So nice to have use of kayaks on a small, quiet lake; firepit outside the cabin; etc. Loved that they live on-site/close by & their free-range chickens about, too! :)
My only request would be to update its listing details to thoroughly explain to guests HOW “remote” it is…& that Barkers Pond Rd in is unpaved, EXTREMELY washed out & crippling potholes that you can’t avoid if you tried. Sincerely, had we not come up in an AWD SUV, I’d have truly been concerned with even GETTING to the cabin on this road! A sedan or any “basic” car, literally would have struggled.
As I live in a rural area of Upstate NY with similar(ish) roads in areas: please! Whomever is fully “in charge” of that road? Be it the camp owners, the town/municipality(?), whomever? Take better care/fill/tamp down/grade out your access road on the regular after storms (as well as updating your listing to explain the cabin’s FULL location/this road in!) or, I can assure you, you’ll likely end up with WORSE reviews at some point, when someone gets stuck/pops a tire/cracks an axle coming in to or going out of the extremely poorly cared for road.
That was its only “bad” part…
Cabin itself clean, tidy, great water pressure for showers, etc. - thank you, again!
