A dream project that that has brought us many adventures over the last two years! Not to mention our sweet little baby girl "Evers" who, unbeknownst to us at the start of the project, was on her way! After searching many different properties throughout the south to have our mountain escape, we knew the minute we set foot on this beautiful property it is what we had in our minds eye. It is rare to find a place with this sort of solitude and privacy with the modern amenities to ensure convenience and safety for our families.
The property itself .....WOW!.... Nestled in a cul de sac cove with a mostly year round waterfall just out of the back door provides not only visual beauty and serenity, but with the cascading noise of the water is the perfect recipe for an afternoon nap or a morning cup of coffee! Like many of you out there , we have always been a little leery of the "seasonal" waterfalls that can be kind of tricky from a rental standpoint. On the off chance it is unseasonably dry and the waterfall isn't running, there's also a "second tier" of beautiful background noise from the rushing water of Town Creek just below the rocky bluff right on the property. Now if that's silent, its just dry everywhere! It truly is unusual NOT to have the lullaby of running water. That may not be important to everyone, but it is to us!
The cabin itself is made from historic reclaimed logs that are from different areas of the country and have their own unique stories. If you pay close attention, you'll see the many different species of wood represented and little clues of prior uses of the logs. As much as we love the "old stuff" and the history attached to it, we also like "square, level, and plumb" and modern conveniences. There is new construction combined with the old that gives the cabin the comfort and conveniences that we have all grown accustomed to having. We just couldn't let those go!
Outside of the property and cabin, there's is also a personal connection with the area. My family (who were farmers) were displaced from the county following the flooding of low land areas to form Guntersville lake in the late 1940s and moved further south to setup a new farm where our family currently lives. My great grandparents had a home on that property that was subsequently torn down. If you look throughout the cabin you'll see the "old house" doors and windows incorporated to complete the circle of a presence in the area and represent the family heritage.
Whether you are in town for a wedding at beautiful Burns Bluff or just wanting some time away , give us a look ! For fisherman who want to drive in and leave the boat hooked up to the truck there is plenty of outdoor parking and electrical outlets available. Whatever your endeavor we would enjoy your visit. So without further ado, we would love to formally invite you to come and enjoy Evers After Cottage with us!
As a parting thought, if we are fortunate enough to have you as our guests , we would love for you to soak in each part of the land, the water , the cabin and features within , BUT we do warn you that it is a BLUFF lot and the edge of the property along the bluff and the stream are EXTREMELY steep. All children are more than welcome (as we have small children ourselves), but any children under the age of 13 we strongly suggest be accompanied by adults outside of grassed areas for their safety and the sanity of their parents.
