Fantastic Vacation!
We just recently spent a week a the beautiful Mar Azul! It was an easy booking process with great communication. We worked closely with Susan who helped us book a private chef and massages! Mar Azul is the perfect place to stay while in Mexico. You are close to Akumal and Tulum but will not want to leave the house as the pool, beach and grounds are beautiful and relaxing. We will be back for sure!

Fun family trip to Tulum
We had a great family trip. Stayed in a great house and location. Kevin and staff did a great job with the house and keeping an eye on us. We rented cars so that we could adventure out and found really cool excursions to try, like a whale shark tour and jungle/cenote tour. The house was well equipped and handled all 8 of us very well. We also had a local chef come in for the evening one night which was fabulous. The only short coming was the road leading to the villa was horrible. I believe its a private road (home owners pay) and it was in terribly rough shape. It was a test to travel down each day. Only sad part of the trip.

Lovely property on gorgeous Soliman Bay in Tulum
Do you want an exclusive, safe, well equipped beachfront place to stay while visiting Tulum? Look no further. We enjoyed the gated community of high end homes tucked away on this bay - but with easy access to all of Tulum sights, activities and restaurants. The stay includes daily housekeeping and Kevin is a full time care-taker who lives on property and was fantastic, The home also includes concierge services from Susan (who is also a local chef and cooked 2 in-home meals for us which were amazing) which were invaluable for help us to plan unique custom activities. Home has a great pool with lounge chairs, kayaks, paddle boards, a glorious playapa for outdoor dining, comfy beds, filtered water, and excellent air conditioning. There is an awesome exclusive hotel within walking distance of the home that has the best outdoor bar with swings that was a blast to visit. We were there when Tulum was experience Sargasso seaweed (not fun mother nature - happens certain years in the summer months). Kevin and his crew worked tirelessly to clear it from the beachfront of the villa and provide access for our teens to kayak and paddle board. The level of service they provided for an uncontrollable event affecting the entire area (from Cancun to Tulum) was impressive and appreciated,

Perfection!
We just left Villa Mar Azul and we were never so sad to leave a place! It was even better than the pictures and what we had expected! Everything was as described and clean and maintained! The kitchen was so well appointed - it was better than my home kitchen. But we loved cooking on the outside grill and eating outside looking over pool and beach and enjoying the most wonderful breeze. We had this lovely breeze the whole week and almost never used the a/c - opened doors and breeze kept us wonderfully comfortable. The location is right on the bay!! There were 2 kayaks for use and we all took advantage of this. The reef off of of Soliman bay is part of the Belize Barrier Reef - 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. My son saw turtles and skates when snorkeling! (There was also snorkeling equipment for our use!!) Everything we could have needed or wanted was there - the service was fabulous - light cleaning every day inside and out and the management was great! The locations was fabulous for visiting some sites - Tulum, Coba, Cenote Dos Ojos...there are tons more but it was hard to leave our villa paradise. When we didn't cook we ate at Oscar & Lalo's, Chamico (short walk along the beach), And a lovely find in Tulum - The Kitchen Table. I cannot recommend this property highly enough - it was a vacation to remember for all of us. My three year old grand daughter called it her Castle and indeed it was!!!!

Okay spot
The house was nice but there are a few things we wish were more clear in the listing. Also a few things we would have appreciated knowing ahead of time. -the main house is a two bedroom villa. The additional bedrooms are separated by other villas with outside entry. This wouldn’t have been an issue for us but we have small children that cannot stay in separate houses alone. We would not have booked here had we known this clearly. -the pool surround and interior are not child friendly. It is surrounded with very slippery tile and the tile blocks inside the pool are chipping badly which resulted in several deep cuts on our sons feet. The slipperiness of the tile around the pool was not safe for kids under 5. -the pool is significantly smaller than the photos portray. -We had to constantly ask for more towels. Ample pool and beach towels should be easily accessible but it was a constant request. -the seaweed made the beach completely unusable. We were told it was cleaned daily and we did see folks cleaning but it barely made a dent in the amount there was. The smell was also terrible, which made staying outside pretty rough. After a few days we did get used to the smell but it never disappeared. -we also experienced a lot of rain and had several leaks everywhere in the house which again, made the tile very dangerous to walk on. -Kevin and his wife were very nice and did keep the properly cleaned and maintained for us. The house was a nice hang out spot and had most of what we needed. -the hotel up the street went beyond for us when we needed things. They scheduled covid tests for us and also let us use their clean beach which did help lessen the sting of a beach vacation that has no usable beach. The house is probably best for only adults. The outdoor space was nice just not really usable due to the current conditions.

Tulum Vacation
Overall my opinion of the property is very good. The property was clean and adequate for our stay. We spend a lot of time in the pool. The pool, like most in the area, is smaller and great for relaxing in as you take time to enjoy the view of the ocean. On site help cleaned and kept up with our needs. Very nice people. I will note, the seaweed was really bad during our stay, but it was like that from Cancun down through Tulum. Getting to Tulum tourist area usually around 25 minutes. FYI. There is a nice hotel up the road from the property with a great restaurant. Otherwise you need to go north to Akumal or into Tulum. Some Cenotes are close by. Overall a pleasant stay.

New Years stay 2021
Thank you Erin, Susan and the staff at Villa Mar Azul for taking such good care of us during our pre New Years week. The location right on the beach was excellent and made it easy for the little ones to hop back and forth from pool to sand as well as visiting our friends 4 villas down. The meals which Susan di Lima prepared were delicious and she was so very accommodating and flexible with our group, especially since we had 4 children under the age of 7. Her breakfasts were amazing and the New Years Eve dinner she prepared for 14 adults was outstanding. Erin Leriger was also amazing to deal with throughout our VRBO process. She was always available to meet our needs and changes. Thank you Erin! Villa Mar Azul was a pretty property in an excellent location which was very private. Having a car would have made our stay a little easier though for running into town and exploring so something to consider for next time. The house couple were nice and helpful but not intrusive. The villa could use a little updating but was very comfortable. The kitchen would benefit from a new stove/range with all burners functioning for ease of cooking for a large crowd since the villa sleeps 10. Also, since the villa is 3 separate buildings it would be better suited for older children and adults. Since our grandchildren were all under the age of 7 we had to make sure there was an adult sleeping in their rooms since rooms in the casitas are accessed individually from the outside. It was all very manageable though and everyone enjoyed the week. I must say that we weren't expecting such high wind throughout the week but at least it kept us cool! Thanks again to Erin, Susan and the sweet young house couple for taking good care of us.

Wonderful Stay
This property was amazing, it was just as listed and absolutely gorgeous! We spent almost all of our time outside on the patio or in the pool went paddle boarding and kayaking in the bay, and even saw some sea turtles! The rooms and views are perfect. Erin was very helpful in helping to find a chef, covid tests, and answering any questions. I would recommend this house to anyone!

Beautiful Stay in Mexico
We came to Villa Mar Azul for our wedding anniversary and this house was wonderful! The rooms were spacious, the property was beautiful and well maintained and the pool was amazing! The only issue we had was the sorgassm seaweed, which is totally out of their control. Next time I may do better research to avoid that season, but we were still able to enjoy the pool, the views, and kayak out to the nice water and enjoy it there. Susan was SUPER helpful in coordinating drivers to Tulum and to the cenotes, she also made wonderful meals and did some grocery shopping to bring us delicious fresh juices. Highly recommend. They were also able to coordinate Covid Testing to go back to the states for us, which took a huge weight off of our shoulders to go find a testing site.

You won't be disappointed!
I cannot say enough good things about our experience vacationing in Akumal and staying at Mar Azul. Erin, the property manager was super helpful from beginning to end and always prompt with answering our many questions. We were a group of 8 adults with a variety of expectations and were all very satisfied with everything about the Villa. The onsite and offsite staff checked in with us daily and addressed all our needs. There is air conditioning in all the living areas, the furnishings were comfortable, and the outdoor space is magnificent! Recommend renting a car, taxi service is not readily available in Soliman Bay. Our van rental for the week was cheap and made for easy travel to Tulum, Akumal, and for sightseeing in the area.

Mar Azulk Paradise
Villa Mar Azul is a little piece of paradise situated perfectly between Akumal and Tulum. The caretakers are wonderful and super helpful (if you have a chance to taste Viridiana's cooking, especially her friljoles, do it - she is a fantastic cook). The pool is wonderful, the views are spectacular and the location is perfect. One suggestion is to install a "big ass fan" in the outdoor eating area to help with flies, mosquitoes and provide a nice breeze when the winds are not blowing. I would definitely return, great value for money!!!!

One of the best!
I highly recommend! The home is positioned on a protected bay, the water is warm and filled with fish, there is a cool vibe to this home- and it’s well tricked out, we didn’t need to buy any kitchen utensils, or soap. Great caretakers who were kind and helpful but never in your way! I will stay here again!!!

Life in paradise!!!
Fantastic! The villa is beautiful. We've staved all over the world and couldn't believe that for the price Mar Azul is one of the best places we've ever stayed. We used everything -new Kayaks, paddle boards, pool and the owners have snorkeling gear available for everyone. Every morning we woke up in paradise where my wife and I had coffer on the master suite balcony looking out over the bay. The caretakers, Kevin and Lourdes, were always available at our every need. Our transportation from Cancun was included and this was about as easy an experience we could of had. We ate out several times visiting the restaurant at Jashita Hotel, Oscar & Lalo's (we called and they pick all 8 of us up). Our journey intoTulum for food and sightseeing at the ruins was fun and made a day of floating down the river at Xel-Ha. Wonderful family vacation. We're already planning our return.

Paradise!
Amazing view, sand is soft and clean. The trees gave perfect coverage and privacy from neighbors which is great considering the neighbors are right next door. Paddle boards and kayaks were a perfect touch! The rooms themselves are a little slice of heaven and each come with AC and water purification dispensers. Cook wear was adequate, only missing a cookie sheet. No issues with electricity, WiFi, sewer system, or running water. The barbeque grill was a perfect addition and we put it to great use! The grill and oven are difficult to turn on, but on site staff are very helpful. Kevin and Lourdes live in an annex on site and are AMAZING! They clean the Villa and pool daily and are very unobtrusive about it. They are friendly and available for guests. Susan, the concierge, is friendly and works quickly to respond to emails and to set up appointments. We enjoyed poolside massages with the ocean view and it was a true delight! Highly recommend!! Lots of activities very nearby, we took advantage of the ATV/zip line adventure, shopping, cenotes, and the ruins. Also nearby are many heavenly restaurants! We stayed in March and the weather was gorgeous as well as the water temp delightful. Wish there were hammocks available, but otherwise this place is PARADISE.

House rates a 8.75 ,beach 5.0 , location 6.0,
Ok. Just returned and can say we loved the home. Beach was small and water rocky and un pleasant. You can walk down 500 yes and find better access however it still is not a smooth sandy entrance. We are spoiled , granted! We like smooth sandy entrance to a crystal clear sandy bottom. Snorkeling was weak with very little to see in front of home. Fishing is not allowed!! I even hired the crew down at the hotel and they stunk. Total rip off they had no clue and had no set mapping of real rocks or drop offs. The access road is the absolute WORST road ever!!!! Insanely bad potholes which made access miserable! Ridiculous. You are also at least 45 min from Playa where all the action is meaning restaurants and shopping. There is nothing in Tulum worth mentioning. Oscar and lalos across the road was good and would return, however, pricey for the food and ambiance. If you want total solitude you will enjoy the property. The pool is small but works and the staff of Kevin and Lourdes were always helpful. WiFi was spotty at best but worked. The kayaks were vintage dating to the 90's ,hated them! Heavy and took on water. The yard was wonderful as was the outdoor kitchen, loved that! Indoor was great with good tv's all tied to SKY tv in spanish go to 400's for English. Would we go back? No. Sorry owners. The beach was not for us and it was to removed from decent restaurants . We have stayed in homes in playa secreto in puerto Morelos and found access much better to shopping and restaurants. We messed up on location. Again, the home was very nice and highly recommend as would add the pool area and furniture with palapa with outdoor kitchen. Owners,, invest in new kayaks please, yours are the oldest on the bay.

Peaceful Paradise
We had the most amazing time at the gorgeous Villa Mar Azul on Soliman Bay. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, overlooking the turquoise waters of this peaceful bay, which is bordered by a barrier reef, thereby blessing it with gentle waves and calm waters. It's perfect for kayaking, swimming, and snorkeling. There is only one boutique hotel, and 35-ish houses along the beach, so it feels very private and quiet. The Villa itself has been completely and beautifully remodeled and updated with a wonderful, contemporary, light and open feeling. There's a view of the magnificent water from almost every window. If you like to cook, you'll love the spectacular new kitchen, or you may like to grill at the outdoor kitchen/bar under the palapa, which is also a great place to hang out and entertain. The whole place, main house, two-story casita, palapa, pool area and beach, was immaculate and the service was absolutely wonderful and unobtrusive. Other than laying around on our lounge chairs, reading and looking at the water, we especially enjoyed kayaking; (there are two kayaks at the property), and taking walks along the beach. Also, we snorkeled every day and saw rays, snapper, flounder, puffer fish, and many other tropical fish. We found the snorkeling to be best down near the hotel, which is a pleasant 3/4 mile walk down the beach. You can also kayak or swim out closer to the reef for great snorkeling. We loved going into Tulum for breakfasts and dinners. It's a short 10-15 minute drive from the Villa. It's fun to walk around Tulum as well, and we found some really great boutique shopping. In general, meals were incredibly reasonable. We also had a fantastic meal and enjoyed live music at Oscar & Lalo's, just across the highway. We really fell in love with Mar Azul, and truly can't wait to go back. We left feeling rested and rejuvenated and it now has a special place in our hearts!

Villa in Paradise
This is paradise. The property with all the upscale amenities couldn't have been better. The newly redecorated villa with beautiful modern decor and a kitchen supplied well having granite and onyx touches. We admired the art which was so tastefully done. We had a group of four adult couples wanting to see the area and honestly didn't want to leave this property because of the vistas and peacefulness. The outdoor kitchen and pool were beautiful and location to beach was spectacular. We enjoyed walking the beach and ate at Chamicos and Sahara restaurants which were outstanding. I would highly recommend this villa as I cannot wait to book again next year.

Amazing Perfect Villa!
We usually stay at another place in Soliman Bay, but when that was booked I made a last minute decision to book Villa Mar Azul. I was surprised that it was available but found out it had recently been completely remodeled by new owners and was just starting to take reservations. The pictures I viewed online were not of the remodel and honestly, did not look all that appealing. I was told that new pictures and a web site will be up in the next few weeks. We just wanted the serenity of Soliman Bay. When we showed up the Villa took our breath away. We were taken back by the beauty of this place. It really is exquisite. Marble floors and granite throughout. Very contemporary with touches of traditional Mexican. As my wife said, 'gorgeous artwork" throughout. The beds were some of the most comfortable we've ever stayed in. We had a fully stocked bar and chose to have some meals catered. The area offers so many good restaurants especially Oscar and Lalos (across the highway) and Zamas on Tulum beach road. We usually like to have both options, but the food was so good and really reasonable I wish we had chosen to eat in more. The pool is not huge, but perfect for a dip after the ocean. The palapa with the outdoor kitchen and bar are really beautiful, unique and convenient. Better than some 5 star hotels we've stayed at. The beach is very nice, but I recommend water shoes since there are some rocks in the water until you get further out in the bay. They had water shoes and snorkeling gear available for our use. The snorkeling was fantastic, as usual. Turtles and rays and so many beautiful fish. This place is a steal for the price and I highly recommend it. I just wish we could have stayed longer. The management company made our stay memorable and helped book a couple of tours. Erin from Latin Latitude Vacations knows what she is doing! I think we've found our paradise. We will be back!

Weekend in paradise!
Just came back from spending a long weekend at the newly renovated Mar Azul on Soliman Bay. It was stunning! The house sits right on the bay which is secluded and quiet and is just steps away from the Caribbean. The house is open and airy and yet comfortable and welcoming. I think my favorite area was the bar under the palapa between the main house and two casitas. We hosted a party for some friends and it was so amazingly comfortable. The property also has available an fabulous chef that put together a delicious and visually stunning spread for us. The management company is top notch and are wonderful to work with. They are easy to reach and were very attentive to anything we needed during our stay. They offered grocery stocking, an in house chef, masseuse services, excursions, concierge services and event planning. All of this made for a stress free trip. They even provide round trip transportation which made getting to the house a breeze. This is absolutely a property that I will go back to over and over again!

Breathtaking!
We've stayed at a lot of places in the world. I have to say this quickly became one of our favorite. From the moment you walk through the front gate, through the beautiful villa and out the back to the pool and steps from one of the best beaches in the world, your world changes. Everything was remodeled recently and is exquisitely appointed with majestic views. From the property rental manager Erin to chef Susan and the housekeepers you're made to feel like this is your home the minute you enter. The beach is beautiful, but occasionally there was seaweed, which was cleaned off 2 or 3 times a day. The snorkeling in Soliman bay is probably the best in Mexico. Turtles, rays, octopus and so many different varieties of fish right on the reef. Easy access to Tulum, Akumal or Playa del Carmen. We found that you can have tranquility and still get in your night life! Looking forward to our next visit.
