Our family really enjoyed the stay here even though it is between the towns. It is conveniently located for the west and south gates of Yosemite and the two nearby towns. we loved Idle Hours, and the Hideout Saloon (great food at both).
We had all the space and amenities we needed to feel like home. Everything we needed in the kitchen. Lots of games, movies and activities. Great local details book, and my son most enjoyed the ping pong table out front.
Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
This is a perfect location for Yosemite as you're equidistant from the south and north entrances. The extra touches such as tea, coffee, condiments, coffee to go cups etc really made a difference. We'd happily stay here again.
Stephanie is incredible. She’s one of the best host I’ve encountered. She’s responsive, giving me recommendation and ready to help in anyway she can. Her place matches the description. Everything is spotless. My kids love the games available inside the unit. They also love swinging on the hammock outside. Her unit is also very cool with 3 split AC which make us relaxed after exploring Yosemite in hot days. Having a car parking with shades is a plus especially during heat wave like this summer. The house is also spacious and has everything that we need to stay as family of 4. Stephanie has also several stainless steel appliances to cook. My wife loves to cook with it. Overall we love and enjoy our stay. We’ll definitely stay at Stephanie’s place next time we visit Yosemite again. We highly recommend Stephanie’s place for those who want to visit Yosemite. Thank you so much, Stephanie!
Great experience with home owner. It felt like home when we got there. Everything was clean and neat, and all the kitchen stuff was labeled. We love our stay and will try and go back. The town is nice and it's in between both gates to Yosemite, which was our main reason for booking here.
Overall wonderful experience. We had to dodge the Washburn and Oak fires, but the location and hospitality were awesome. This VRBO is as advertised with clean, comfortable furniture and all the items needed to enjoy our stay. Stephanie was helpful and friendly.
We had a great experience at Stephanie’s place!! It was clean and inviting with a lot of helpful signs and instructions on the property. It is about 45-60 mins from entrances to Yosemite, depending on which one you use, and about an hour and 30 mins to get into Yosemite Valley. There is a lot of seating and a hammock in the yard to enjoy your morning coffee or see the stars. 10/10 would recommend!
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very clean and comfy. Stephanie has everything there that you may need. She was very responsive and went above and beyond. The yard was great and it was very quiet. Would definitely recommend!
Honestly I was pleasantly surprised how big the cottage was. I was expecting it to be smaller. The cottage was actually available earlier than the normal check in time. The owner let me know if I wanted to check in earlier. The house had everything stocked and ready to have us. It was a great stay, no issues
Our stay at the Sunset Cottage was amazing! The home is clean and comfortable with thoughtful amenities such as games and travel tips. It was also a great place to come home to after a tough hike in Yosemite (an hour away). We would recommend!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stayed at Stephanie’s cottage. She had absolutely everything we needed to make our time comfortable. Communication was great, check in process easy. We were driving to Yosemite everyday which is a bit of a trek (1.5hrs) but coming back to a full kitchen, hot shower and comfy bed made the long days worth it. Would happily come back and stay again!
The place was clean and had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable, plenty of space, great amenities. Only 10 minutes outside of Oakhurst, which had a grocery store and plenty of restaurants, even a couple coffee shops. Only issue is that, the cottage is about 45-50 minutes from the Park, but that's only to the entrance. It's at least 1.5 hours from the cottage to Yosemite Valley. It was a little too much of a drive for me and husband everyday. We went to the park for 3 days, and that was over 3 hours a day just to get to and from the Park.
The two-bedroom cottage is a haven for those looking for peace, quiet, and comfort. Comfortable beds, high-quality linens, and a host that has thoughtfully provided helpful extras in the kitchen, bathroom, and living area make this an ideal location for a week or a weekend away. Located about 30 minutes from the South Entrance to Yosemite National Park and about 15 minutes from the town of Oakhurst and its many modern amenities, this country retreat is perfect for those looking for both convenience and privacy. Highly recommended!
My friend and I were attending a wedding in Yosemite National Park. The Sunset Cottage was perfect. The South Gate entrance for Yosemite was the closest to the cottage. Unfortunately, for us the wedding ceremony and activities after the ceremony were happening in the valley, so the north entrance was easier, but it took a bit longer to get to the park. We did not spend much time in the cottage, we were very active in Yosemite, but coming back to a hot shower and a comfy bed was the best. I have only a small complaint, the shower head and hand held tubing interfered with the shower caddy and the water spray was spraying mostly up against the wall, not down the middle of the tub. I adjusted the hose and it was better, but it was still staying mostly on the wall.
This property is exactly as advertised. The beds were comfy, the house was clean, and we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We went into Yosemite everyday of our visit. The drive was easy and pretty. It was nice to come to a home each night after some long hikes. Our host was very friendly and made sure we had what we needed. I would recommend this place for sure.
If you are looking for a place to stay near Yosemite, stop looking and book! This is the most adorable cottage! It has everything you can possibly ask for. It is easy to get into both the El Portal and Mariposa entrances from here. Oakhurst is not far away for all of your shopping needs. The Hitching Post is definitely worth a stop in, sit at the bar and meet some real characters. Stephanie, the owner, is absolutely wonderful! This cottage is hands down one of our top favorites!
