Unique thatched cottage ,restored to highest spec in gorgeous countryside

Smithy cottage and forge are Grade 2. The forge is one of only two remaining in the UK in its original state. An oil painting of the internal by H.J..Dobson is in the US, a photocopy exists in the cottage. The cottage is very comfortable with an Aga cooker which is on throughout the year and provides a comfortable warmth. Underfloor heating is installed in the corridor leading from the kitchen to the bathroom, and in the bathroom itself.. The corridor houses a built in shower cubicle, and the pretty bathroom which is separate, has a jacuzzi bath for two. The Master bedroom downstairs has a queen size four poster bed and a door leading out into the garden. The kitchen has a lovely feel with grey units and traditional tile flooring. The sitting room has TV, DVD and CD together with Wifi, also a wood burning stove and night storage heating. The sitting room is traditionally furnished and has a large collection of books and children's games. Up stairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and cloakroom style lavatory and basin and the other bedroom has twin beds.

The pretty garden sits in 6 acres of grounds, and because the cottage is south facing
provides an ideal place to sit outside and dine, whilst enjoying the spectacular views.. (table and chairs are provided). The village of Camserney provides some wonderful walks to the waterfalls and on to Loch farleyer. Close by is the small town of Aberfeldy which has many family attractions,, including a leisure centre, distillery, art deco cinema, archery, shopping and restaurants. Castle Menzies is next door and in the opposite direction is Fortingall where the yew tree in the churchyard is reputedly 3000 yrs old and where Pontius Pilate is said to have been born. Further on, is Glen Lyon , the boating and fishing village of Kenmore on the River Tay.. Camserney is about 90 minutes from Edinburgh and Glasgow airports and a central point of Scotland.- ideal for further exploration..

Nice house terrible gardens
House was excellent but description of garden and surroundings including the “spectacular views” was totally misrepresented. The garden and surroundings would be better described as an “overgrown wilderness.” The main website page showing the views of the garden and immediate surroundings are extremely misleading and bear no resemblance to the reality,

Perfect private cottage
For ourselves, this was a perfect place to get away, totally private and extremely quiet. It's about 200m up a single track lane so you have to hope nobody is coming in the opposite when arriving or leaving. The garden in front of the cottage is totally enclosed so you cannot see the lane. The cottage is not large, but is very cosy and is ideally equipped. The Aga takes a bit of getting used to but there is also a small 2 ring electric hob if you do struggle. The Jacuzzi bath is a luxury, especially after a long walk. One thing to be aware of is that at night the area is in total darkness, so unless you put a light on you cannot see anything so a middle of the night toilet visit means feeling your way around trying not to bump into anything. The nearest town of Aberfeldy about 5-10 minutes drive, has everything you require including a nice café serving coffee and cakes. If you enjoy walking there are plenty of walks in the area, including Dull Forrest which you can do from the cottage door. For a more challenging walk Schiehallion is about 20-25 minutes drive away. Will deninitely try to return again next year.

We really enjoyed our stay at Smithy cottage. We had very hot weather and found the cottage quite warm because we couldn’t turn the aga off-I’m sure most of the year this isn’t a problem!! It’s a perfect spot for exploring the local area, few minutes drive from Aberfeldy but in a very quiet spot. The garden was quite overgrown meaning our kids aged 9 and 4 couldn’t really explore as there were lots of nettles/thistles. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need making it a real home from home. Would happily return for another stay.

Extremely well equipped property in a beautiful location. Little tricky to locate the key safe and property itself (as no sign on gate etc). Nice change to use the AGA! Overal very relaxing stay.

Fabulous holiday
We had a wonderful time, the cottage was rustic but had all mod cons. It was very well equipped and we loved cooking with the aga. We enjoyed sitting in the garden and saw some deer come through. We did some lovely walks from the cottage including walking to Dull a few times. Scenery was beautiful. We also enjoyed white water rafting with ‘Splash’ in Aberfeldy and managed to see the beavers. We would love to go back and highly recommend the cottage for a holiday.

Cottage nicely secluded, garden nice and big, could be made better if garden was maintained better. However we spent little time in the garden as there are so many different things to do and see

Absolutely idyllic!
Smithy's cottage is the most delightful little cottage imaginable and everything about it is absolutely perfect. It is very cute and pretty, in a lovely setting, very nicely furnished and maintained, and totally comfortable in every way. (Even the wifi works perfectly!). It feels beautifully quiet and remote, but is near everything. Only 10 mn drive from the lovely little town of Aberfeldy and in the middle of a beautiful and interesting part of Scotland with much to see and do. We saw lots of beautiful butterflies in the garden, many red squirrels, dears, pheasants and even a couple of hares while walking or driving around. We visited castles and gardens, lovely little towns, saw spectacular landscapes and the oldest tree in Britain! We could have played golf or gone canoeing or fishing or even gone to the iconic cinema of Aberfeldy... But most of all, we loved returning to the cottage everyday and were sad to leave. Thoroughly recommend it!

Charming, cozy and comfortable
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, charming and cozy cottage. We were also impressed with the location near Aberfeldy and Pitlochry. There were many good restaurants nearby and plenty of things to do, even on a couple of rainy days, which we suppose are unavoidable on trips to Scotland. But we also had really nice weather and enjoyed a number of hikes. The cottage is very well appointed, with everything one could possibly need. We like the fact that cottage is not near any main streets, cuddled away in a quiet litte village up a hill with a great view of the valley.

Didn't want to leave - perfect stay.
Everything about this cottage was perfect for a few days over Christmas. The kitchen is over-equipped with everything you need and of very good quality. We were very comfortable. This place has a lot of character and I would highly recommend to other travellers. There's beautiful walks and Castle Menzies very close by.

Lovely in every way. Quaint, but clean in a very quiet location
We stayed for a week touring the area around Camserney. Our sty was delightful in every way, and the location was central to our Scotland visit's including Fort William, Inverness, Edinburgh & Pitlochry. As a runner I loved my runs up into the hills, the scenery was breathtaking. Scotland is beautiful, and the Smithy Cottage was a perfect fir for 2 couples to enjoy.

A Delightful Cottage in an Idyllic Setting
We enjoyed tremendously our stay in Camserney. The cottage is a charming mix of traditional and modern. The kitchen was equipped with all the amenities , making it easy to create a either a simple or elaborate meal. It was not too cold during our stay, but the mornings were chilly- the kitchen has an Aga cooker, which kept the space toasty. I was amazed at how easy it was to cook on. The living room is cozy with lots of books and interesting reads about the history of the village and area. My husband and I were traveling with another couple, and we all found the bedrooms to be comfortable. The main bathroom is equipped with all the modern conveniences including a heated floor and towel rack. Owner Elizabeth provided lots of information and was available by phone or email if we had any questions or problems. Another great feature of the cottage was it's location. It tucked away on a street off the main road, and a walk up the hill led us to amazing views and even a hidden lake. It is about a ten minute drive to the town of Aberfeldy, where we able to choose from a great mix of restaurants and pubs. My husband is an avid golfer and spent one afternoon playing at the Aberfeldy golf course. We made day trips into Edinburgh and Saint Andrews- both less than 2 hours away.

Heerlijk verblijf in sfeervolle cottage

Optimal!
