Little Tigh Craggan is a cute, semi detached cottage in the heart of the village of Weem in highland Perthshire. Here you’ll find a modern kitchen with a breakfast bar, which is ideal for checking emails with your morning coffee. The cosy living room has a large comfortable sofa to cuddle up on in front of the coal-effect fire, whilst on the first floor is a double bedroom with superior mattress ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and an en-suite bathroom. This bijou cottage is the ideal location to relax and unwind in after a day’s adventures in the surrounding countryside.
From your doorstep you can walk to the two friendly restaurants in the village, onto riverside walks along the River Tay. Weem Hill woodland walk takes you through some of the most scenic woodland to St Davids Well. Dating back many centuries, there are great views of nearby Castle Menzie where Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed on his way to the Battle of Culloden. This area is surrounded by folklore and legends, and the old Kirk in Weem has a magnificent interior and is well worth a visit. The area is ideal for cycling with quiet roads and tracks to follow from your doorstep.
Aberfeldy is just over a mile away and has a good selection of places to eat and have coffee, or visit galleries, an award-winning book shop, community cinema and local shops, including a butcher. If you like a round of golf on your holidays, the local golf course welcomes visitors and there is a putting green in the summer months on which to practice. For adrenaline junkies there is white water rafting, canyoning and kayaking on the river, or for a more relaxing pace a walk in the Birks of Aberfeldy or along the river side. The local Dewars Whisky Distillery offers tours, letting you into the secrets of making Scotland’s national drink and you also get the opportunity to sample some.
For days out you can take a Highland Safari into the mountains to spot the local wildlife surrounded by the dramatic scenery of this most beautiful area of Scotland. A cruise on Loch Tay shows you close up some of the inaccessible areas of the loch, with its nature and wildlife. With so much to do in this area, you are in an ideal all year round location for a short break. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
