"I found that most staff have a problem understanding english, which was quite surprising for a hotel chain and hotel staff. However and overall, I found this to be an issue for most of Marselles. For example, in restaraunts, the menus are often only in french and lack any english translations. Maybe it is the principle of the people or region, not sure. I received messages feom the hotel asking to review them, all in french, eventhough at check in I did not present a passport from a french...
