"Cold welcome from a blonde lady at reception who asked ‘can I help you’ when I walked in with my walking gear on. Perhaps she thought I was not good enough to stay there but compared to other stays this was unwelcoming! A smile and a welcome wouldn’t go amiss! Other than that The rest of the staff were lovely. The place is pretty and beautifully decorated for Christmas. It’s a lovely hotel. Breakfast was cold & didn’t finish it. Partner disappointed with his breakfast also. "

"Room was lovely, and fairly quiet for above a pub. When we arrived there was several sets of bedding’s and sheets drying in our room over chairs and a clothes airier, must have been left by housekeeping but not in issue we just folded and set aside. Only downfall was that the shower head didn’t stay up. We ate and drank in the pub also, food was absolutely gorgeous both evening meal and breakfast. "

"We took a spontaneous trip to Malham Cove for a night away. This lovely hotel is down a quiet country road 1/2 a mile from the cove and near to several other pubs and cafes. The building is very old and reached over an old stone bridge or the beck (stream) Parking is available and the room was nicely furnished with views of the water and a very comfy bed. "We stayed for 12! Days it was so good. Beautiful property in the heart of North Yorkshire - amazing selection of breakfast. Clean rooms and family-run, friendly service. Sometimes we had to ask repeatedly for clean towels - and we don’t change them everyday. Beds were old and could use updating for comfort. Otherwise - would highly recommend! "

This is the first time I have encountered this in a hotel, This was not easy to make the first cup of tea in the morning. "Really enjoyed our stay. Only negative was that the dinner menu was the same each night. The staff were very friendly and polite. A very dog friendly hotel too - you had the option to have meals in a nice room with your dog - this isn’t the case in some dog friendly hotels. Would stay again."

"This is a relaxed small hotel - a bit like a guest house / hotel with good dining and bar for locals. Sawley is very convenient for Fountains Abbey but isolated - a car is essential. The Spanish chef was very good, as was the room andvthe staff attentive "

"Amazing location. Clean and comfy room. Fridge on landing where we could keep fresh dog food and milk, they can be noisy in the room so great idea. Needs to update to a decent coffee machine if the sign outside says ‘coffee house’. Only filter served and not very nice. Some really lovely, friendly staff. Would definitely come back. 9/10"
