"The place was nice and we enjoyed breakfast variety on the table and they have vegetarian food too my favorite was fresh fruit salad and home made smoothies everyday. Staffs very friendly and English speaking. The place is walkable to many places. 👍"

"This hostel is right next to the train station so it’s very convenient for travel. The area is a little chaotic but very typical for areas around train stations. The room was clean, the beds were comfy, and the facilities were decent. Was able to utilize the laundry room and the bar area. The bathroom was super tiny and smelled a bit like sewage but totally fine for a night or two. There is a popular shopping area nearby and we were able to visit the Christmas markets. "

We enjoyed a magnificent Christmas lunch, delicious breakfasts and wonderful room service meals. The staff were absolutely phenomenal. We really don’t have enough superlatives for our stay at the Fontenay. Worth every penny! "

"I found this hotel last year, on my first trip to Hamburg. The staff is lovely and the hotel beautiful. I love how simple it is. The beds are super comfy too. The train into the city is just outside the door, but honestly it’s about a 20 minute walk to the city center and a safe walk at that. They have always been accommodating and helpful, even had my room ready early. Thanks for a wonderful stay!"

"We had high expectations for this place, and technically there wasn't anything drastically wrong with it, but it was the accumulation of all the little things that left us disappointed. The location of the hotel is close to a homeless centre, but also close to a grocery store and U bahn. The showers spray water from the fittings, and also the shower is too shallow so it floods the bathroom floor. When we mentioned this, they said all the rooms have the same problem, as well as the fitness...

"Good, clean, quiet hotel, ideal for the central station. The breakfast was very good for the price. The carpets in the hotel are old, but the hotel was otherwise fine. It is in a very rough area with all kinds of less-than-legal activity going on in the streets surrounding it. Heads up if you are travelling alone. "

"Overall, my stay was good. My room and the common areas were rather chilly, probably owing to the loss of natural gas from Russia, but the situation did not cause any concern for me. My room and the common areas were clean, but the elevators could use some cleaning. The breakfast buffet provides a good selection. The property is within walking distance of the Hamburg Hbf and a U-Bahn station, making driving unnecessary."
