"The staff at the Hotel Mondego worked very hard to make us feel welcome. We asked for directions, dinner suggestions and tour advice and they always had a ready answer and a smile. Loved the location in Coimbra, as well as our third floor room with a balcony view of the river. We had a wonderful stay!"

"Nicely renovated property with pretty good breakfast. The main downside is that their thermostat is centrally controlled (to turn on for heat or for cooling), and when we went the evenings were turned on for heat. We prefer it cooler to sleep and it was only possible to open the windows, which meant a lot of noise given the hotel’s central location. The hotel is recommended otherwise, so if you’re not a light or particular sleeper it’s a good choice in Coimbra. "

"We LOVED our stay here! Right from when we checked in, we got a glass of champagne and a snack, followed by a wonderful breakfast hand delivered to our room the next morning. Everything was spotless, and the staff was very welcoming. The only thing that you should be aware of is there is no lift, so if you can’t do stairs, ask for a main floor suite. Highly recommend this place in Coimbra! "

"If your looking for modern conveniences this is not the hotel for you, but if you want 1920s charm, this is 5*. No fridge, coffee, satellite TV, but great charm.and a pleasant breakfast. Very friendly staff, old carpets and I think it's great."

"Our stay was absolutely amazing! The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of everything, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. The property itself is charming, with the unique character and ambiance of a vintage pharmacy that adds so much personality to the experience. "The staff was immediately friendly and kind. They helped us upgrade our room, leave our bags before check-in, and gave us a tour of the guesthouse. The kitchen was clean and big. The room was beautiful and comfortable. There is no soap or shampoo but it was okay as we brought our own. "

"The apartment made us experience the life in the old city which was nice. But the place was not as shown on the reservation site (the bedroom was not made of stonewalls). Also, it didn’t look like it was well taken care of. The electric blinds were worn out and one literally fell off the wall. I wrote an email to the owner but never heard from them. I slept one night out of 3 because there is zero insonorisation and the party from down the hill goes from 11:00 until 5:00 in the morning! ...

"Lovely Hotel in the heart of the city and just a short walk from the Coimbra University. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast included and the restaurant in the hotel have many options and are great for a quick bite to eat. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. "

Hated leaving

"Absolutely loved everything, but especially the staff. They all made us feel at home in Coimbra and treated us as guests rather than customers. The breakfast was excellent! We hope to come back soon and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel to our friends and family. "
