We had a fantastic break at March Cottage.
We had a fantastic break at March Cottage. The area is beautiful and the situation of the property is excellent in the glen....very quiet and peaceful. The hotel at the start of the glen is very welcoming and serves good bar food. The small towns of Lairg and Bonar Bridge aren’t far away to purchase groceries etc. The house itself is very warm and comfortable and lacked for very little. There is no mobile phone signal but there is WiFi. It’s pretty slow as you’d expect in such a remote area but we were able to make WiFi calls and use email. The only negative thing was the TV. This is provided by an old Sky box without a card. We’re not big TV watchers but nice to catch up in the evenings but there’s obviously a lack of channels, but the worst is, there are no Scottish channels. So you could get the UK news but the (local) news was either from Birmingham or London depending if you were on ITV or BBC. It’s ironic that we’re Scottish and on holiday in the Scottish Highlands but could only watch English TV. A good option for the owners would be to bin the Sky box and plug in a Freesat box in its place. Then many more channels are available including BBC1 Scotland, BBC Scotland and STV....all free Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A well equipped house located in a peaceful, scenic glen reached via a single track road which is well maintained. A river runs to the front of the property and we were lucky to have a couple of deer visiting in the garden during our stay. Cleanliness was to a high standard throughout the home and it was very warm with the added bonus of a wood burner should it be required. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property and we hope to return again in the future for another relaxing break. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Outstanding accommodation in a glorious setting.
Outstanding accommodation in a glorious setting. The cottage is very well equipped for a comfortable stay, great care has been taken to ensure that everything you might need has been anticipated, way more than most self catering accommodation. The owners are delightful people who are concerned to ensure your comfort and enjoyment during your stay. Pet friendly and a great environment for long scenic walks. For those interested in salmon fishing the cottage frontage is the lower on the Glencassley Castle Fishings, so absolutely brilliant for a fishing party.

Lovely house in a lovely location, only scored down on local amenities as you are 3.
Lovely house in a lovely location, only scored down on local amenities as you are 3.5 miles up a dead end rd, but there is a lovely hotel at the start of the road that serves good beer and fine food. Having said that, you wouldn’t be booking a property like this if you wanted the cinema and crazy golf. What it does offer is peace and quite and superb scenery. We did a big shop in Dingwall on the way up and then picked up bits and pieces locally in Lairg. If fly fishing is your thing then the river Cassley is outside the front door. If you like walking or cycling these are also from the front door. Centrally placed for the west, east and north coasts, all of which we visited, also only a little over an hour down to Inverness. The house is very spacious with en-suite plus two other bathrooms, with a log burner in the lounge, I would recommend roller skates to get from one end of the kitchen/dinner to the other. We had a great day out canoeing on the Kyle of Sutherland with locally based ‘Go Wild Highlands’. Also had a lovely walk on the local Rosehall trails. Birds of pray and dear could be heard every night although it took until our final day to really see anything up close, when...opening the curtains revealed 3 deer happily munching away oblivious of us, they stayed around for almost an hour. Overall, a great property in a great location with an overall score of 10/10 Would definitely return, just not next year as our preferred dates are already taken. We had an absolutely fantastic week in March Cottage. It is in a stunning location, and we loved feeling so remote. The cottage is spacious, spotless and very comfortable with gorgeous views. Our two labradors loved the river and we all enjoyed numerous sightings of deer-especially a stunning stag a couple of yards from the kitchen window. Thoroughly recommended. When we arrived at March Cottage it was sunny and warm and we were totally amazed at the cottage and its surroundings. It is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful area. We cannot fault the cottage and it had everything we needed. Their is so much space, the beds were comfortable and the showers were great. We saw so much wildlife, deer, stags, badgers, salmon and buzzards all from the cottage. We would advise people to take some binoculars as we were constantly looking for the wildlife with ours. Cassley Falls at the beginning of the lane is beautiful and the walks along the river in the opposite direction are equally as beautiful. We enjoyed a walk through Rosehall Forest too. As it's in a central location we were able to visit the East,North and West coasts quite easily. I have family in Tain, so were able to meet up with them throughout the week. Our two dogs both enjoyed it too. (A small fenced off area for the dogs outside may be something to look at doing in the future, although ours thoroughly enjoyed the freedom and once we got used to it, it was Ok. Wish we could have given 9.5 as a rating as this would be the only thing we felt we/people might like for their dogs and the only thing that could be improved.) Local amenities are very limited. We had a meal at the local pub which was Ok but the nearest shop was 14 miles away. Our advice would be, be prepared with shopping as the nearest shop is a fare journey away and it did take a while to get used to that. If you want remote, this cottage is for you..... just beautiful! Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A wonderful cottage nestled in remote Glen Cassley. The cottage was warm and welcoming with most things that your would expect. The kitchen was well equipped and the cooker was excellent. The bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable. It was great to have a wood burning stove with plenty of wood available. A wonderful place for the children to play. We saw lots of deer. There are many forest walks close by and the west cost is beautiful short drive away.
