"Used this hotel as an overnight stop both on our journey down to the south of France and also on our return. Situated close to the railway station, the town centre and the old medieval town which is worth a stroll round. On our arrival on the journey down shortly before dusk the receptionist gave us directions to places to eat, most were closed so ended up at McDonalds!"

Would consider using again, but might look for options slight closer to the centre of Montlucon. We were only staying for one night on our way south through France. "A magical setting and very quiet place. We stopped here on the way from Le Bugue in the Dordogne to Paris. However, it was a bit basic! We were staying in a cottage next to the mill which was 1970s concrete and furnished very basically. I have seen more luxurious student accommodation. The dinner was ambitious but truly awful. I had melon with champagne followed by pork mignon. The first course tasted rather soapy, the second had a thick sweet sauce. We didn’t pay 12 euros for pudding, feeling...
