"The hotel room was clean, bright and spacious. It was well equipped, comfortable and excellent value. The breakfasts were exceptional, as were the evening meals. They were generous and expertly prepared. All of the staff were very polite and helpful. We will definately return again."

"We booked this pub/hotel for a two night stay due to going to a wedding at Hallington Mill a venue approximately 15mins drive away. Arriving on a Friday afternoon we received a lovely friendly welcome and had a evening meal on our first night. We stayed in room 7 a fantastic large bathroom which look brand new. Every member of staff we had dealings with very friendly and helpful. "

"Bowes is perfect for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and the many forts and museums around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate both nights at the Bowes and the food on both nights was very good. The Thai food was delicious and you could tell it was all freshly prepared and cooked. The bed was comfortable and ideal for us after long walks. We would have no hesitation in staying again."

"Made to feel very welcome from the point of checkin, a wonderful warm welcome from the huge fire as well, we stayed in the gatehouse room , which is absolutely beautiful, and huge , very comfortable room, comfortable bed, and a huge shower, the room was lovely and warm. "If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would just for the staff!! Anyone we came in contact with were impeccably nice. It was so wonderful meeting them. Their friendliness was very welcoming and warm. Made me feel right at home. They even gave us a take away meal for breakfast because we were leaving prior to breakfast hours."
