"The hotel is fairly new and therefore really modern and clean. There is a spa on site which is ideal after a days walking. The free shuttle bus into the heart of Salcombe is a great idea as the walk does involve a few steep hills although this is how we travelled into Salcombe most days. The hotel is right on the beach and is in a very quiet location. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. If like us you come here in the winter and you want to walk in and out of Salcombe then remember to take a torch...

"I enjoyed my brief stay at St Mellion’s. The staff were welcoming and the hotel was clean and tastefully decorated for the festive period. The bed was huge and the bathroom had plenty of towels and handwash/shower gel etc. Although there weren’t many gluten free options on the restaurant menu, the staff were helpful and made me a GF steak and chips which was perfectly cooked. The cooked breakfast was all GF and a very generous portion. I would definitely stay again. "

"Front desk were helpful and friendly. We paid for a superior double. The room was really drab and had strange twin headboards mounted on the wall that didn’t sit over the bed. When we complained we were moved to a better room promptly. The hotel is def outdated and a bit rundown but the staff were pleasant and the room was clean. The plug socket blew out and killed our phone charger. We probably wouldn’t stay again. "

"Our stay at this hotel was lovely. There were a few issues with our bath and window but the staff arranged for an alternative room to be made available for us. Both rooms were very well appointed. The weather outside was poor but the reception rooms in the hotel were decorated beautifully and kept warm with lively open fires and we enjoyed refreshing drinks and tasty snacks. "A one night stay on a wet and windy weekend in January. After booking, the hotel phoned to say that they were actually closed that night but they could give us the same price at their other hotel, The Palace. All we were looking for was a room for the night; we really didn't expect it to be such a stunning room with a prime view. We would have been very happy with anything, but this was really superb.
