"One of the best hotels that we stayed at in Sri Lanka. Right up against the beach front with beautiful views, modern and spacious rooms, and great facilities. "Just an absolutely awful hotel. Do not be fooled by the photos, they are from around a decade ago. Everything is old, broken, full of ants and dead flies, the showers have no doors, the pool looks like a horror film. Some other guests had a party until 5am and when we tried to find a member of staff to complain to there was no-one all night. And then they claimed the next morning there was no party. We tried to ask for a partial refund but the owner refused and made us pay 100%. The...

Its well placed for easy walking to local restaurants, beaches and sights and the owner was able to arrange transport and guides to further afield locations.Breakfast was always more than ample and very tasty. "I left my heart in Talalla Retreat. Incredible staff who were so welcoming and hard working, the Retreat itself is stunning. I had an upstairs bedroom so was able to fully enjoy the surroundings.
