"We used Le Mas des Boires as a home base for a family wedding (service in Saint-Jean-de-Côle, reception at Chateau des Boires). The property was beautiful with a wonderful outdoor garden, refreshing pool (although smaller than the picture), and well-appointed stately rooms with private bathrooms (we had two large side-by-side rooms with balconies that overlooked the property. We loved the historic charm of the building - huge manger in the dining room; stone walls, exposed wood beams, etc....

"Compact and well appointed , we liked the sliding shutters that kept out the sun, and tge masses of storage. It would be a great place to spend several days exploring the area. Julien and Angelique are good hosts who made us feel very welcome, and it was lovely to be able to have an excellent dinner there too after a long drive. We felt the only thing that let it down was the minimalist breakfast- not very good value. We would certainly return, but maybe not for breakfast."

You need a car to go anywhere. We didn't have one! Menu: Although great food, it's French and if you're fussy/have kids, you may find it an issue. Only one staff member speaks English, so...

We were really disappointed that this ‘grand old lady’ of a building in a beautiful river-front location 850m up a drive from the road should have been so neglected and let down by abysmal lack of service. "We loved this hotel. Amazing setting on the river with picturesque views in two directions from our corner room. Utterly charming in every way. The self serve Italian coffee machine in the salon is fantastic. Walk to everything in the delightful village with many riverside park areas. We took short drive to Brantome for an excellent dinner. Can’t edit to go back!"
