"Lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings. Friendly staff but not good service in the restaurant. We were left for 20 minutes with nothing to drink and no sign of a wine menu. An American family next to us had the same experience. It seemed the Spanish guests were getting preferential treatment. Tea and coffee in the rooms would be nice as well, something other Parador hotels offer."

Our chance to stay in an authentic medieval farmhouse in the valley of the Pyrenees, with all the modern conveniences we could desire. The owners’ ancestors built it slowly between 1400-1600. "I booked what I thought was a family room- we got a room with two bunk beds so I ended up sleeping on one of the top bunks as my youngest child is too young for that. Not a real problem for one night but the smell of methane coming from the bathroom was a real hazard.
